I love creative commons under the current context (I release all my work under a creative commons license) but, like. From the perspective of anyone who believes all intellectual production should be free to reuse and build upon, it (like all copyleft systems) is kinda just a bandaid solution by virtue of being an opt-in thing.

Like we can promote creative commons all we want but that doesn't change the fact that the default state of affairs for any intellectual work is someone owning the exclusive rights to its usage, which is the fundamental problem with copyright as it exists.
