The forgotten Swiftie generation?

Hi @taylorswift!! I know there’s only about 17 days and 21 hours until Lover is released!!! You must be SO EXCITED!!!

That means there’s only 8 days and 21 hours until my birthday, and it’s a big one this year, the big 40!!! After seeing the posts from Secret Sessions I just want to address an elephant in the virtual room...many of us “older Swifties”, “golden Swifties”, “Swiftie parents” call us what you will feel like we have absolutely no chance of being invited to anything. I will say this feeling has been present for awhile but the wound was reopened tonight when someone posted about being 2 or 4 when Fearless came out. I’m not saying that those fans are any less deserving, this is truly about observations and just letting you know about this other side of the fandom.

We may not have as frequent a social media presence because many of us work full time and/or are raising families. BUT when Fearless came out we were in our late teens or twenties. Your music has guided us through the most important days of our lives! Many of us have had your music playing at our weddings, in the delivery rooms when our babies were born, at our children’s graduations, on Mother’s Day, etc. You’ve added so much to these moments with your meaningful lyrics. We have been at every tour, bought every CD, waited in anticipation as we are now for every release day and have vivid memories of each era and what it has meant to us! We would love to have the chance to thank you too!!!

Many of us also have Swiftie children who we bond with over your music, announcements, videos, release dates, tour!!!, etc as well! I know you’re not a parent but you can trust me when I say that it brings your stan level up several notches when you share that passion with your children. There’s no words to explain how fun it is to scream lyrics in the car while blasting your music with my daughters on the way to school. The best I can compare it to is your relationship with your mom which I know is so special💗. We are inspired by her as well. I also propose you consider some sort of event in the future (or tour m&g) that would include parents and their Swiftie kids...it would mean the world to us (and there are a lot of us out here).

All I’m asking is that you don’t forget us this Era! There are so many wonderful, deserving fans that are over 30 too! We would love to have a chance to hug you as well and share a moment to let you know what your music has meant to us. In the mean time we’ll be out here cheering you on, pre-ordering Lover and making plans for release day!

The fact that @taylorswift invites fans to her HOME, plays her album for them, feeds and hugs them and is gonna share pages of her personal diaries still amazes me. She does so much for her fans it’s unbelievable and exactly the reason she’s a roll model for us and so loved 💗💗💗💗💗

Posting any photos of myself anywhere is, in honesty, a painful experience. But here goes:

At the age of 39 my life was divine. I was working as a Clinical Director for a statewide agency focusing on children & teens placed outside their homes into foster care & residential treatment. I was the single mother of a gorgeous daughter who loved to dance with me in the living room with abandon. We went to bed happy & I woke up the next day in intensive head pain & nonsense talking. I had had a stroke.

My life changed with the snap of your fingers. I was forced to retire. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t read & I was terrified. I was angry at the world for two years. It took me three years to learn to read again. I describe what I call are “bad brain” days when my thoughts wont come out verbally. I still write numbers backwards, get overwhelmed easily, especially when there is lots of stimulation around me. I cry just like breathing, something common with survivors. It takes lots of repetition to learn anything new & I often tell friends & strangers to teach me “ at a kindergarten level”. I use a walker.

Yet my life has many blessings. Taylor your music helps me when my pain is overwhelming & I can’t sleep, or my anxiety is out of control. It’s your music the doctors play in the operating room when I’m having surgeries, your music they play to keep me from having panic attacks in the MRI machines

Because of you I have the most amazing friends in my life that I will treasure for life.

My daughter has been through so much in the last year and as a mom I want nothing more than to make everything better. She has literally been through hell and it sucks to witness. A year ago this month she lost her ex boyfriend in a ATV accident and struggled and then her one and only paw paw was terribly sick and passed away in September, 17 days after seeing @taylorswift In Concert at Nashville. She has been piecing her life back together and has now learned she has PCOS and a possible tumor on her pituitary gland. It has been one thing after another but one thing has been constant is her love for Taylor @taylornation We are awaiting some tests to figure our next step in this journey. In the meantime we will continue what we know. And that is discussing all the Easter eggs and theories of TS7. Thank you @taylorswift giving us something to look forward to.

This is my daughter singing Never Grow Up at her Senior Baccalaureate. She chose this song because it resonates so much with what we are both feeling right now. She will always be my little girl. I’m so proud of her and It makes me so happy to know her Senior Class is now educated on what an amazing artist and songwriter @taylorswift is. @taylornation Proud is an understatement. ❤️
