Martin Luther King isn't evidence that peaceful protesting works. He's evidence that even if you're peaceful, they'll still kill you.

The change wasn't in response to people listening to Martin Luther King. The change was in response to the riots that happened after he was murdered.

If you're able to command that protesters be peaceful, then you're able to command that the ruling class be peaceful. And if the ruling class were peaceful, the protests wouldn't exist.

its crazy that a lot of what we call 'video essays' these days are basically low budget documentaries on increasingly weird and niche topics. no network approval no tv budget just one guy with maybe a hired editor/writer and a couple of friends willing to read voice lines. and then they put it on youtube like its no big deal. insane.

That phrase "the Moon is shamed" immediately made me think of Lover's Oath. When the boys are getting old enough to recognize what their feelings are and mean, and Hugo is finally unable to hide his love anymore, they're out on a high balcony alone and Varian is feeling some kind of way about Eugene being more traditionally attractive in their culture.

Varian: I mean, I know they want me to find someone to marry but like... ugh. Even if I DID like any of them, all those girls like Eugene more. Like... am I ugly or something?

Good morning, evening, or night depending on where you are! Because your honor I’m back on my dark kingdom bullshit, let’s talk about language!

This had been brain rotting me for a few days and I’m finally able to share, yay!!! Very nervous but I’m excited to share

If the dark kingdom had its own language it would be called Umbrasa because the fandom name for the dark kingdom is Umbra.

Let’s start with consonants and vowels:

I feel like the dark kingdom would keep they’re letters simple and few and most definitely distinct in their pronunciation. They’re in a kingdom built in darkness, you have to be able to hear someone clearly because you can’t see their body language or read their lips to understand them better. So the letters are to the point, and easy to understand (not slurred into anything).

I made a few symbols and kept others from the phonological inventory. Here’s a picture!

1-3 are vowels and 4-15 are consonants. You saw right, only 3 vowels here but they can be pair to together in every way (ea, ae, oa, ao, oe, and eo). So there’s options. And only 12 consonants? Yes, yes there are only 12 consonants.

Pronunciation:

1. O (soft) 2. E (hard) 3. A (soft)

4. Ck (that hard k sound)

5. R (hard r, like the r in hard) 6. R (soft r)

7. V (V but without out the little e sound, if that makes sense)

8. Ed (like the British Z but without the z, if that makes sense)

9. Sh (like in shoe)

10. B (the Russian pronunciation of B where the back of the throat is more open)

11. M (soft) 12. L (soft) 13. Wh (like in who)

14. N (like in bang but without the g sound)

15. G (soft like in mage)

Grammar:

Not much here. It has the same noun-verb pattern as English (noun then verb) but there’s no articles (a, an, and the) and there’s not much need for ‘are’ either. Their sentences are also very simple. For example instead “it is ok to cry” it’s “you allow yourself cry” (you are allowed to cry, you can allow yourself to cry).

Words and phrases:

Now there are some common words and phrases that people say because that’s a good kick off point to making it actually speakable.

Ok I’m not translating these because my brain is starting to hurt a little lol, but here you go

4. Are there rocks growing in your ears? (I’ve hold you to do something like fives times and you haven’t)

I know this is not very good but it’s a start

Oh man... so um... if you go find the hugo masterpost Anna Lencioni did (not terribly long ago oddly) so we could use him most effectively, you'll learn some things. One of them is that this meme couldn't be more backwards.

I get it. The vibes he has when he's alone and doing his thing as D&D artificer Hugo are so wholesome. That's because they're usually just him and Olivia there. In reality, the character was played as a functioning sociopath so out for himself that he'd sell his own grandma to save his ass.

VaT7K Hugo has the capacity for empathy for things that aren't him or Olivia. His arc in the story is, in fact, the process of learning to love and trust people.

D&D Hugo probably would happily shag Varian and then proudly hand him over for the cash. Wouldn't be hurt by it, probably would mildly mock him before leaving.
