kinda funny that people act like it's boring for mark and helly to be romantic as if well-executed central romances on tv aren't actually pretty rare. like maybe it's normal for the male and female lead on a tv show to have romantic tension or get together at some point. not saying romance is uncommon in general. but how often does a tv romance have something genuinely weird and interesting going on, like sev does w the split selves all having their own dynamics. or how often is it something the writing fully embraces and does a complete, good arc w (tbd how that turns out of course). or uses in a genuinely artistic/thematic way. it's really not that common. art tv has a lot of v interesting dynamics bt romantic partners but not v many of them have a central storyline i'd call a "romance". is it so crazy to be excited when it looks like you might be getting some quality food.

sooooooooooooo many things to scream about tonight but number one on the list is the difference in the ways dylan and mark's outies talked to their innies. from the get-go mark scout is nothing but patronizing to mark s. he created mark s as an escape from his grief, and now he wants to use mark s as a means to an end to save his wife and pick up his life where he abandoned it. he gets helly's name wrong and calls her 'the person you're seeing' because he doesn't recognize mark s's humanity. he sees mark s as an extension of himself, and he only loves gemma, so of course whatever mark s feels for helly can't be real or worth fighting for. and when mark s understandably doesn't see it his way, mark scout lashes out, calling mark s a child.
but then you have the letter dylan george wrote to dylan g. in three paragraphs dylan george talks to his innie like an adult, like they are peers. he's angry at dylan g, but at the same time, he understands why dylan g did what he did. he would have done the same if he were in dylan g's place. after years of being jealous of his outie, dylan g learns that his outie thinks he (dylan g) is the one to emulate, the self-assured badass. and where helena and mark scout made their innie's decisions for them ("i am a person. you are not.") dylan george breaks the cycle: he offers his opinion, but ultimately puts the decision back in dylan g's hands.
at the end of this season, dylan g is gifted agency. and after fulfilling his purpose, mark s steals his agency back.

Ugh I love this scene so much!
I know Adora has so much inner turmoil. She does love Catra, she always has, even in her worst most horrific moments, she’s never stopped loving her. And for that she feels so fucking guilty. She bares the burden of all the people Catra has hurt even though she did everything she could to stop it. Still, she sees the good in Catra and she fears no one else will.
At the same time, Adora has never allowed herself to want anything for herself. It’s always been about serving those around her.
So it is some serious character development when Adora admits that she wants to go back for her. I think that’s when she starts to accept her true feelings for the first time and heal. 🥲
