Chicham bridge is the highest bridge of Asia situated above a deep gorge of about 1000 feet high!🌉

. Located in the North-eastern part of Spiti, this bridge connects Kibber to Chicham village.🚚 . Before this, the villagers used to cross the way by a dangerous ropeway, it took 14 years to complete this. It finally completed in 2017! . The trip to Spiti! . Kibber is a village high in the Spiti valley in the Himalayas at 4270 metres or 14,200 ft in Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for its monasteries and the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located 20 kilometres from Kaza and a bus service connects them in the milder summer months. . The village has around 80 houses, unique, given that they are made of stone instead of mud or adobe brick used extensively elsewhere in the Spiti valley. There is a civil dispensary, a high school, a post office, a telegraph office and a community TV set in the village. Kibber Monastery was founded by Serkang Rimpochhe of Tabo. . The Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1992, which spans over an area of 2,220.12 km2 of land. The elevation range of this sanctuary is 3,600-6,700 m above mean sea level. The vegetation here is sparse and have high medicinal properties. It is very popular for snow leopard which you may see if you go there in snow season! . The mysteries of Key Monastery! 

The name ‘Spiti‘ means “The middle land” and has immense similarity with Buddhist culture as to that found in Tibet and also in Ladakh. No doubt that the whole of Spiti is known as Little Tibet!

 This charismatic monastery was founded by Dromton back in the 11th century. However, during the 17th century, it was attacked by the Mongols, when it was under the reign of the Fifth Dalai Lama.

 In 1820, it was again targeted during the disastrous wars between Kulu and Ladakh. But these aren’t the only challenging things that the monastery has seen! In the year 1841 when the Dogra army attacked it under Rahim and Ghulam Khan, it was severely destroyed! 

The same year, the monastery suffered, even more, when a Sikh army targeted it. The complete period of the 1840s was hellacious for the monastery that it caught fire and in the year 1975, an earthquake destroyed it leaving it buggered!

 Later, State Public Works Department and Archaeological Survey of India helped in the renovation and the monastery was totally repaired so that the monks could stay there and continue with their peaceful lives!

Hello, everyone! Our video of Manali-Leh Cycle Trip 2018 is out! We started off from Manali with 20 young students from Vidya Niketan Birla Public School Pilani and all had an incredible experience paddling all the way from Manali to Leh. We completed this distance of 470 kms in 10 days covering Khardungla - World's Highest Motorable Pass!

A trip to Spiti..! . Tabo is a small town in the Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River that lies on the road between Rekong Peo and Kaza. . This town surrounds a Buddhist monastery which, according to legend, is said to be over a thousand years old! The Dalai Lama has expressed his desire to retire to Tabo since he maintains that the Tabo Monastery is one of the holiest. . In 1996, the Dalai Lama conducted the Kalachakra initiation ceremony in Tabo, which coincided with the millennium anniversary celebrations of the Tabo monastery. The ceremony was attended by thousands of Buddhists from across the world. Tabo Monastery's spiritual head is Tsenshap Serkong Rinpoche! . A small government run dispensary presently serves Tabo with two doctors who rotate their services and a small pharmacy. The nearest hospital facility is in Kaza, some 2 hours away! . The Serkong School, only school here was established by Tabo Monastery on 29 May 1999 (Serkong Tsenshap Rinpoche's 15th birthday). The most preferred route to Spiti is from Shimla via Kinnaur valley. The journey starting from the ‘Queen of Hills-Shimla’ leads you through Rampur to the splendid Kinnaur Valley. Explore the paradise as it resembles! Every moment you would feel the beauty of Himalaya changing. . The last town of Kinnaur is Nako. Nako Lake is a prominent feature here where it borders the village. It is a mesmerising lake where you can spend some time in peaceful ambience. There is a helipad too adding to its importance. . Chango gompa, about a few kms away from the Nako monastery on the road from Spiti, has a prayer wheel more than 500 years old, which measures about 3.5 metres in diameter. Spiti valley is accessible throughout the year via Kinnaur from Shimla route on a difficult 416-kilometres-long road. The thick snow separates the land of Spit from the rest of the country for around 6 months. . Tourists from outside India need inner line permits to enter Spiti through Kinnaur. In summer it can be reached via Manali through Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass. . Shimla to Spiti route is more preferred for the travellers coming from distant parts as it gives them enough time to get acclimatized to the High Altitude and thus less prone to altitude sickness.
