rereading successor arc in an attempt to find an answer to a Quastion and good god i forgot how down bad near is. theres absolutely no indication mello is behind the kidnapping at all until near is like By the way. Was he eating chocolate. and soichiro is like uhhh i guess i heard a crack? and near is like
