Okay so admittedly I did all of these yesterday thinking that the assignment was due and entirely rushing. Some of these were my final prints but now they’re just proofs. The zinc plate is definitely harder to work with than the plexi plate, it requires less wiping, slightly thicker ink, and is just harder to carve. Still overall happy with the design cause I think its interesting.

4.4.1 Assignment 1: Blog and Post Kate Collyer
I really liked the style of her work and I want to start incorporating more minimalistic backgrounds to my pieces.

Jill Parisi artist visit
I liked her use of botanicals and very vibrant colors. So I was inspired to make a funky flower.

Here is my first proof with colors. I’m honestly surprised how well it came out because I used a combination of water- based inks and oil based inks. Using water-based for the stencils and oil for the collagraph. I was worried that soaking the paper for the collagraph would ruin the water-based designs but it didn’t. I made the ink for the collagraph too thin but overall I’m happy with how it came out.
