《Give Me a Kiss》
Masterlist ✦ Next Chapter
✥---------------✥---------------✥
Ch 1 - Give Me a Touch
[Recently, the internet-popular Shenquan Group decided to invest in the Lanjing Streaming Platform. At current, series B funding has already been completed. Whether Lanjing’s numerous popular streamers will leave or stay has been a popular topic amongst the people. Lanjing is at the forefront of the country’s streaming platforms, with streamers such as Yanwang, Give Me a Touch, Icon, and other large streamers.]
Xie Wenxing hurriedly swiped on the notification that popped up. He found a cigarette from the side of his desk and started up his equipment while smoking.
This is his second year after becoming a streamer. The first year, Xie Wenxing had little popularity under Longmao. During the end of his first year, Longmao started recommending new streamers, but the platform didn’t give him a frontpage recommendation, and suppressed his streaming time. At this time, Xie Wenxing just so happened to have met a headhunter from Lanjue, and decided to jump ship to stream on Lanjing’s platform.
Who would’ve thought that just as he jumped ship and Lanjing had just helped him pay back the breach of contract fees, the platform itself would encounter a large problem. Powerless to continue, the platform could only collect funds from outside sources.
Xie Wenxing’s line of sight fell on the words, Shenquan Group.
By chance, Lanjing reached out to Shenquan.
Reaching out to Shenquan wasn’t the problem. What was most unexpected was, the investment in Lanjing was being personally handled by Shenquan Group’s heir. It is said that this heir has recently been interested in the continuously more prosperous e-sports industry. They first imposingly purchased two industry clubs in Modu City, and this year, they even advanced into the streaming world.
Lanjing Streaming, which was made popular by the game League of Legends, became their first target.
[...... If this finance move is successfully completed, Shenquan Group will become Lanjing’s largest shareholder, with shares held under Guanhe’s name. Lanjing’s Yi-Jie, Lu Yaoyao, has previously publicly expressed on stream that she holds a positive impression of Guanhe.]
As expected, here we go again.
Ever since Lu Yaoyao was sang on her previous stream and expressed that she just follows the company’s orders, but that the new leader is quite handsome and is her male god, these gossip blogs have loved exaggerating her words. This long Weibo post attached a screenshot of Lu Yaoyao’s stream, with her long hair to her shoulders, wispy bangs, a delicate face, a smile on her face, and her skin white as milk.
He scrolled down. It was Guanhe’s photo.
It seems to have been taken during this year’s LOL World Championship. The club that Guanhe had invested in, EVE, had fought their way into the final four for the WC after many years. Although it stopped at the semi-finals, for many League of Legends fans, it was a good result. When the competition ended, as their boss, Guanhe took a photo with the EVE members. In the words of a EVE fangirl who was at the scene, she originally went to see her esports male idols, but accidentally saw a first-rate Mr. Perfect.
The members of EVE were all tall young guys with long legs. Their looks were also top-notch in the industry, Xie Wenxing was close with their club’s marksman. Marksman Flash was at least 180cm tall, but next to Guanhe, the so-called god of looks, Flash, was forced down a notch. The Guanhe in the photo had slightly drooped his eyes down. He had an inner lid, and the shape of his eye was that of a bent peach flower.
He was half a head taller than Flash, and when photographed next to Flash, his skin was even more fair than the internet-addicted youth who doesn’t see light most days of the year.
Once this photo was released, a large portion of the girls in the esports circle became excited. EVE was already a top team within the country with high interest and a large number of fans. Those girls would have never guessed that their bias’ sugar daddy would be handsome to the point that they couldn’t close their legs.
As expected of EVE, even their financial backer was perfect.
Xie Wenxing scrolled to the bottom. Sure enough, many people were lapping up Guanhe’s looks. This man truly was scarily good looking. Compared to his youth, twenty-five year old Guanhe’s personality was more introverted, and he wore a plastered smile that wasn’t too indifferent but didn’t come on strong, making him seem more mature and graceful.
Xie Wenxing remembered that Guanhe used to be like that in the past too. In middle school, many girls had crushes on him. Whenever Guanhe played basketball, practically all the girls on the court were there for him. Guanhe’s grades were good, his family background was good, and he gained the affection of girls wherever he went.
The Xie Wenxing of that time also played basketball. He was in middle school when Guanhe was in high school. Not sure whose smart idea it was to organize a friendly competition between the middle school team and the high school team, specifically noting to include both teams’ visual representatives. Xie Wenxing was in his third year of middle school at the time. When he heard that they were going to compete with their seniors, especially when he heard they specifically asked for him, he took to the court without any objection.
Guanhe was the high school team’s best player, and was always the MVP on the basketball court. No matter how you put it, Xie Wenxing and team were shorter by half a head. His teammates were oppressed to the point of questioning their lives. During halftime, the enemy team’s MVP came over to speak to Xie Wenxing.
With the blinding sun blocking his head, and loud pants, Guanhe held a bottle of water. He leaned in as he twisted open the bottle and handed it to Xie Wenxing.
He said.
“Give me a kiss, I’ll let you guys win the next three matches.”
Returning from his memories, Xie Wenxing chewed on his cigarette.
What’s scarier than your ex-boyfriend acquiring the company you work for?
There really isn’t anything.
This means your ex-boyfriend can decide whether you stay or leave.
As the largest streaming platform in the country, aside from the primary gaming streams, Lanjing also has many singing streams, mukbangs, chatting streams…… but there are also bad streamers, which caused Lanjing to get a bad reputation. With Shenquan’s acquisition of Lanjing, they started to tidy up the platform one by one from top to bottom. They examined each streamer, and if any cautious issues came up, the streamer could be not allowed on the front page, or even terminated.
Xie Wenxing had only jumped ship from Longmao not long ago, and Lanjing had only just recently helped him pay for the breach of contract fees. The million in  compensation fees from when he signed the contract hadn’t even hit his bank account yet. (1) His daily earnings came only from the gifts given during his streams.
That is to say, if Guanhe wants him to leave, he must immediately leave, with not a cent to his name. An extremely embarrassing situation.
The scariest part is, he can’t forget Guanhe.
Even if it’s looking at a photo of him, Xie Wenxing’s heart would still uncontrollably throb a bit. Back then, he was the one who brought up breaking up, but now, he’s still the one who can’t let go.
Just in time, his computer and equipment finished booting up. Xie Wenxing turned off his phone and prepared to start streaming.
The cigarette had a choking peppermint flavor, making his throat a bit husky. Xie Wenxing logged into his account and started preparing to say hello to his audience.
There was already a few hundred thousand people waiting in the stream chat. After a while, this number would become larger than two million. Once they saw him come in chat, the bullet comments enthusiastically greeted him.
[Mo-ge, good afternoon] (2)
[Husband (heart) (heart) (heart) (heart) (heart)]
[Even his greeting is handsome, I’m truly blessed]
Xie Wenxing’s game ID was [Give Me a Touch], so some fans used the [Mo] character to give him a nickname.
He took a look at the never-ending (heart)s scrolling across his screen and lazily said, “Why does this look so much like a scammy p*rn stream?”
[Old Mo is being a pervert again] (3)
[Mo-shen is reliable, I’ve always thought of you as a s*x streamer. Don’t reveal much, but you sure are fast at it] (4)
[Stop yapping, hurry up and start]
  ……
Xie Wenxing stopped replying to the bullet comments and logged in to League of Legends.
“Going to play a match to warm up.”
AFter five minutes, he was matched into a game. Out of habit, Xie Wenxing took a look at the IDs of the players on his team. He laughed as soon as he saw it. He was the first player, with his ID name [Give Me a Touch], and the fourth player’s ID name was [I’ll Give You a Touch]; they were couple IDs.
“Let me introduce them to everyone, this fourth player is my wife,” Xie Wenxing said, “Let me ask my wife what they want to play, I’ll help them steal it.”
Surprisingly, as he said this, he actually typed out a message.
The fourth player didn’t answer him, but another player recognized him. [Big thighs, I’ve already laid down]. (5)
Xie Wenxing laughed, “You aren’t even my partner, what use is lying down? Come, come, come, move.”
In succession, the bullet comments told him to stop being a flirt, they couldn’t stand it anymore.
The Ban&Pick section ended, and the game started loading. Xie Wenxing saw that [I’ll Give you a Touch] indeed was a girl, as expected. He threw out a message saying he was going to take a piss and went to the bathroom.
When Xie Wenxing returned, the game had already loaded in. He only then noticed that the user with a matching couple name [I’ll Give You a Touch] had chosen to play Sona. Xie Wenxing thought this was strange, but didn’t think too much about it and began to buy his equipment.
Instead, it was his teammates that said: [Sona?]
The mid lane Fizz also typed: [This young girl probably doesn’t know how to play, Jhin doesn’t work with Sona].
Xie Wenxing’s character was Jhin and [I’ll Give You a Touch] had chosen Sona, so they were in the same lane. Jhin and Sona aren’t exactly a great pair. If the marksman isn’t able to farm enough, there’s a high chance they’ll lose.
Top lane: [Master doesn’t know how to play their position? To choose Sona even after seeing Jhin, real sh*t].
Xie Wenxing slightly frowned. They hadn’t even started the game, but they’ve already started arguing. [I’ll Give You a Touch]’s Sona was already walking toward the bottom lane. Doesn’t seem like they plan on rebutting.
Xie Wenxing typed: [Try scolding them again?]
He privately said to the Sona: [Just focus on healing me, it’s not a big deal].
He originally thought that with Sona’s cool demeanor, she wouldn’t reply, but who would’ve thought that they would reply to Xie Wenxing.
[I’ll Give You a Touch]: [Okay].
Xie Wenxing thought they were a little cute, so he replied with one word: [Good]. (6)
It was both flirtatious but also doting. He saw Top lane, who had been scolding them earlier, type out a row of ellipses.
Fortunately, the two mid laners for this match were extremely good, especially Jhin, who had godly defenses and kills. He killed his way down the lane. The enemy Bottom lane had basically been annihilated by Xie Wenxing. It was only thanks to the enemy Jungler sense of tempo that they were able to last till end game. When stealing the dragon, their Top lane rushed in, causing their entire team to get attacked, with the Jungler getting slain first. Their tempo was awful, and not only did they lose the dragon, but aside from Sona and the Mid lane Fiz, their team’s other three players were all dead.
When clearing the dragon, Fizz was also annihilated by the enemy.
Now, only Sona was left with the challenging task of protecting their base. Sona actually hadn’t been too shabby, but at this moment, even the Top-lane who had been scolding them at the start could only say [GG].
Which meant, this match was doomed.
Xie Wenxing took a look at his equipment panel. Although he had been continuously killed at the start, his equipment was the best out of everyone’s, with him holding a thousand more coins than everyone else. Xie Wenxing adjusted his equipment again. He can fight.
The only problem was whether or not the Sona could persist until he respawned. Xie Wenxing typed: [Persist twenty-three seconds? Twenty-three seconds and I’ll be alive].
After sending this, the Sona didn’t reply, but earnestly cleared minions until the Sona was killed by Twisted Fate. One of their turrets exploded.
But it had already been twenty-three seconds. ID [Give Me a Touch] respawned from the spring waters. The current Jhin had already completed six legendary items. The Jhin under Xie Wenxing’s control was akin to a demon shuffling between minions and enemies.
Basic attack, combo, kill again. A slew of legendary moves just like the Grim Reaper that dictates one’s life. He was truly a master worthy of this title.
Everyone was listening to the League of Legends system announcements: (7)
“An enemy has been slain!”
“Double Kill!”
“Triple Kill!”
“Quadra Kill!”
The last one remaining, Caitlyn, flashed away, but was similarly rooted by a basic attack from Jhin.
“Penta Kill!”
“Ace!”
Xie Wenxing’s viewers on his stream were already going crazy:
[Omg omg omg 66666!] (8)
[Legendary!]
[Mo-ge really knows how to play]
  ……
It was a little inflating.
The Xie Wenxing who had just gotten a pentakill smilingly tapped on his keyboard: [Am I handsome? Hurry up and compliment me].
Obviously he was asking the Sona.
*
Guanhe, who had just respawned, was taken aback when he looked down at the words on the screen. Under Guansha’s stunned gaze, he typed out a line: [Very handsome, compliments for you].
“Bro,” Guansha said, “So you do know how to compliment someone?”
It was New Years Eve, and Guanhe had taken time out of his busy schedule to come home. Guansha, who had just started her sophomore year of high school, had been called to be reprimanded by their grandmother, but she had already opened up the game. In a moment of desperation, she could only have Guanhe, who had been sitting next to her reading news, substitute her. “I already entered a match. If I win, I’ll get promoted to Challenger. Bro, play well!”
After Guansha said that, she hurriedly ran upstairs to the second floor.
Guanhe had played League of Legends before, but back then, he mostly played with Xie Wenxing. Xie Wenxing liked playing flashy positions, so Guanhe was forced to play support or top lane.
Guansha came back just as Give Me a Touch landed a pentakill and shrieked in Guanhe’s ear. When the nexus exploded, Guanhe almost went deaf.
“He’s my idol! My religion is him! Long live Mo-ge! ! ! !”
“Do you know who you were just playing with?”
Of course Guanhe knew. His first day after investing in Lanjing, he saw Xie Wenxing’s name on the contract. But he shook his head.
“Mo-shen! He’s a big streamer on Lanjing Stream’s, which is the company that you invested in. A year ago, he streamed himself climbing up the ranks until he entered South Korea’s top ten. He can play any position, except for support because he doesn’t like it. He’s best at playing ADC, bottom lane is his……”
As she spoke, she slowly lowered her voice as she watched Guanhe’s line of sight droop.
She looked at Guanhe again.
His eyes were as dark as the ocean floor, and she couldn’t make out any emotions. But in any case, she was still his blood-related little sister. Guansha knew that his current state was not the best.
What Guansha didn’t know was that when Guanhe typed out those words, his heart was feeling way more complex than she could imagine.
On one hand, he was tooth-gratingly angry at what that untamable wolf cub Xie Wenxing had done to him that year, but on the other hand, he was still unable to get rid of this longing feeling for him. (9)
His life had always been smooth sailing. No matter where he went, people always praised him. It would be reasonable to say that he didn’t need to take a second chance. That year, Xie Wenxing had already hurt him so much. If he were to continue to pay attention to this man, he was no different than an idiot.
But——
Guanhe asked, “What is his stream room number?”
——
(1) ¥1,000,000 CNY equals approx. $140,916.80 USD
(2) Xie Wenxing’s username is 你摸我一下 (ni mo wo yi xia), which lit. translates to You Touch Me A Bit. I kept the translation as Give Me a Touch for his full username, but 摸哥 sounds weird as Touch-ge, or god-forbid, Touch-bro, so I kept the nickname as Mo-ge. Hopefully this still makes sense! If anyone has a better suggestion, feel free to let me know.
(3) 老摸 lao mo: Lit translated, Old Mo. It’s basically a short form version of Old Pervert + Mo (his nickname). If you wanted to get into specifics, in Chinese, there’s a term 老色批 (LSP), or old pervert, which is what you call a very perverted person. So they’re just adding his name onto that term.
(4) 摸神 Mo-shen: Anyone who’s extremely good at their craft may have the word 神 (shen, god) added to to a character of their name. This is basically respectfully addressing them as a god of their craft. Here, Xie Wenxing is extremely good at esports, so his fans use the word 摸 Mo from his ID and add a 神 God to it. Same as (2), I’ll be keeping the phrase as Mo-shen because it just sounds better than God Mo/Mo-god.
(5) 大腿 da tui: Lit. translated, Big Thighs. It’s part of 抱大腿 (bao da tui), which means to basically cling to someone’s lap. Here, the player is saying they’re ready for Xie Wenxing to carry them, so they won’t have to do anything.
(6) To the translator gods, please forgive me for this translation, but I could not think of any better option. Here, Xie Wenxing says 乖 guai, which basically means like good girl/boy. Kind of like how you’d speak to a baby or a pet and say they’re a good girl/boy, not in a weird way. Hope that gives a bit more context.
(7) All the League announcements are originally in English. At most, I just fixed the author’s typos.
(8) 6 - Any of these sixes you’ll see together doesn’t mean the devil’s number, but rather that they’re very impressive or cool. This is because in Chinese, six (liu), sounds similar to 牛 (niu, cow), which means impressive/cool. Can be any amount of sixes, from one to infinity. Of course, context clues are important too.
(9) 狼崽子 lang zaizi: Lit. translated, wolf cub. He’s calling Xie Wenxing wild and untamable, like a wolf. Not that he’s an actual wolf.
✥---------------✥---------------✥
TL/N: Oh my god, this chapter was long. The amount of League terminology I had to search up was ridiculous (눈_눈) I haven't played League in ages, so please bear with me. Hopefully the terms were correct.
Lots of internet slang too lol. I know them, but translating it is another beast.

Chapter 1 - Ugly
Airport Terminal.
The surroundings were packed with people. One middle-aged tall man wearing a polo shirt scurried by in a hurry.
One hand was holding his phone by his ear, and the other was lifted. He lowered his head to check the time.
On the phone, his producer friend who made television programs for a video platform was chattering away, “Ol’ Wei, you know a lot of younger kids. This time, no matter what, seeing as I’m asking, you have to help me.“ (1)
Wei Guangkuo held his pose as he listened to the voice on the phone, and stood still panting as he looked up at the arrivals board. He said, “Okay, I’ll see if there’s anyone suitable at the school. If there’s a suitable candidate, I’ll give you a call.”
“They need to be good looking, haven’t signed on with a company, and have never debuted before. It doesn’t matter if they’re not in the entertainment industry, as long as they look good. Recently, entertainment companies have been excessively reusing the same trainees - having them go on a competition show just two months prior, and then immediately joining another competition show. With just those same few faces, if I were the audience, I would also be tired of seeing them.”
Wei Guangkuo kept an eye on the arrivals terminal. He didn’t say much after hearing all that, and just replied, “I got it.”
“What are you doing? All out of breath and absent-minded.”
“I’ll talk to you later, I’m at the airport picking someone up.”
“Okay then, you go do what you need to do. I’ll contact you later, you better not forget my request.”
“I won’t.”
After hanging up the phone, Wei Guangkuo continued unblinkingly watching at the airport terminal gate despite the bustling sounds around.
Suddenly, a group of people pushing luggages walked out of the terminal gate.
Wei Guangkuo immediately and attentively scanned the group.
Between the intertwined figures, rolling suitcase sounds, and the sounds of people speaking, Wei Guangkuo’s eyeballs were so wide they could pop out. Still, he could not find the person he was looking for. He couldn’t resist complaining to himself, “This brat, why has he still not come out. Doesn’t he know his own uncle is waiting?”
Right as he was thinking this, a figure emerged from the gate and walked over.
It was a young and tall adult male who was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and carrying a backpack on one shoulder.
His eyes and head were lowered as he looked at his phone. In front of him, he pushed a luggage cart containing two large suitcases.
Only once he walked out of the gate did he lift his head. Once he made eye contact with Wei Guangkuo, his face immediately showed a bright smile. Raising his hand, he waved. “Uncle!”
A most normal greeting, but it drew the attention of people in his surroundings. The crowd of people at the arrival gate constantly cast glances. There was even the sound of a sharp intake of air, followed by sounds of exclamation.
These sounds of exclamation were nearby Wei Guangkuo. When he heard it, he raised his eyebrows and lifted his chin a bit. Wearing an extremely proud face, he greeted his eldest nephew.
Once the uncle and nephew pair met, Jiang Zhan walked out from behind the cart, raised his arms, and gave Wei Guangkuo a hug only relatives would give. “Uncle.”
Wei Guangkuo felt emotions rising. “Brat.”
Jiang Zhan smiled, “Miss me?”
“Miss my ass.”
@
It was already 9PM, and it took at least an hour and a half to get to the city from the airport.
The car turned on to the highway. Wei Guangkuo drove as he spoke, “Really not staying at my place?”
Sitting shotgun, Jiang Zhan tilted his head sideways, the shadows of trees on the side of the highway quickly passing by his line of sight.
Jiang Zhan yawned, and in a casual tone said, “Nah, I don’t live with old bachelors.”
Wei Guangkuo heartedly laughed. “Alright, up to you.”
Having finished joking around, Wei Guangkuo started nagging, “I already cleaned up the house and bought you a few daily necessities. When you get back today, go to bed early. Tomorrow, you should wake up before 9AM. Young people shouldn’t constantly think about sleeping in till noon and not even eating breakfast.”
“Got it.”
“Tomorrow’s the weekend, I have no classes and no plans. Come over, we can have lunch together.”
“En, okay.” (2)
“Do you drink?”
Jiang Zhan smiled and turned his head. “Yeah, will you let me drink now?”
Wei Guangkuo humphed. “You’re not seventeen, eighteen anymore. You’re already twenty-five, why can’t you drink. Just so happens I have a bottle of Dream Blue. I’ll open it tomorrow to welcome you back home.” (3)
Jiang Zhan chuckled and nodded, “How amusing.”
Wei Guangkuo lightly humphed. His eyes wandered off to the side, but his heart was full of mixed emotions.
This nephew of his… He’s grown up now, but he had always liked him. It can’t be helped, his looks were good, had a good personality, cheerful and outgoing, and was talented at small talk. This kind of kid, who wouldn’t like him.
Unfortunately…
His fate wasn’t good.
The Jiang family was wealthy for many years, up until they encountered a small business crisis. Jiang Zhan’s father made the wrong decision and lost everything, causing the company to directly go bankrupt.
How old was Jiang Zhan at that time?
In his memory, he had already been accepted into university.
If everything hadn’t changed, with the Jiang family’s conditions, Jiang Zhan, a proper rich second generation, would have attended a nationally famous school, gone abroad to study, graduate, and then come back to the country to take over his family business - no problem at all.
But the Jiang family collapsed overnight and Jiang Zhan’s father died that same year from an accident. His mother was diagnosed with cancer during his third year of college and died of illness in Vancouver a year ago.
Sigh.
Thinking about it, Wei Guangkuo could only sigh and lament in his heart.
Good is that everything is in the past now.
From here on out, it’ll get better.
Wei Guangkuo had faith in this nephew of his. Jiang Zhan had such a good personality, and his natural conditions weren’t bad. Seeing how he was able to overcome those few years, his future could only get smoother.
-
Jiang Zhan lived at Plum Bay Community, at his family’s old house. Because they hadn’t registered the property rights, when the Jiang family went bankrupt, it hadn’t been used to repay debts.
Because it was an old house, it had practically never been lived in, so the house naturally didn’t hold many memories.
Jiang Zhan didn’t care much. After all those years, the hardest part had already passed. His mother also peacefully passed away a year ago and didn’t have to endure the torture of sickness anymore. He didn’t have to be sentimental anymore.
Returning was a brand new start for him.
Jiang Zhan only wanted to look to the future, not his past.
As for what he planned to do in the future and whether or not he should find a job, Jiang Zhan himself hadn’t gave it much thought.
For the moment, he wasn’t short on money, and he had ways to earn more money. His life wasn’t as hurried anymore, so there was no need to be as stingy now that he was back. He’ll take it one step at a time.
It was Wei Guangkuo who mentioned, “If you want a job and don’t have anything suitable, I can help arrange for you to come to my school as an assistant.”
“No need, I’ve had enough of school for this lifetime.”
“……” This brat.
Jiang Zhan wasn’t in a rush, leaving Wei Guangkuo in a bind. He could tell that his nephew meant it when he said he wasn’t in a rush and wanted to keep things unplanned. Wei Guangkuo’s own matters, on the other hand, were organized all neat and tidy.
Sleep early, wake up early, jog for exercise, watch movies or shop or play ball, he had a plan for each and every day.
Thus, Wei Guangkuo didn’t plan on bothering any more, it was his nephew’s choice.
What he didn’t know was that this nephew of his, ever since the night of his return, hasn’t been idle.
Bubble King Can Operate Large Airplanes: Photo God!! Are you there!
Photo Editor: ?
Bubble King Can Operate Large Airplanes: A frontline fansite admin has more airport photos, is it still the same price as usual.
Photo Editor: En, same price as usual.
Bubble King Can Operate Large Airplanes: I sent you the photos, check your email. I’m in a bit of a rush for these photos. I need them by this evening, can you finish quickly?
Jiang Zhan sat in front of his laptop. He didn’t answer when he saw Bubble King’s message, instead opening his email attachments.
That’s right, Jiang Zhan is a photo editor, one that people in the circle call “Photo God”——
There was no photo he couldn’t edit, no broken pixel he couldn’t handle.
No matter how defeated the celebrities in the photos looked, as long as he edited it, it would always be god tier in both attractiveness and aesthetics.
Fancircles even had a saying, every time they see a gorgeous photo from a fansite, they can’t help but suspect if it’s Photo God’s handiwork.
There was another saying as well, Photo God’s photos? Don’t kid yourself. Does your fansite even have the money to hire Photo God? Don’t you know how expensive he is?
Which is why even though he had clearly never watched tv shows or followed any celebrities while he was overseas, he still knew about practically every single thing happening in the entertainment circle.
There was no way around it. The only line of separation between photo editors and fancircles was the internet.
Before Jiang Zhan returned, he hadn’t gone online for a while, meaning he hadn’t accepted any jobs. Now that he was back, he turned on his laptop to find a pile of orders.
Now that Bubble King had sent the photos over, he habitually took a first glance through the raw photos.
As the photos loaded, Jiang Zhan picked up the glass that was next to him.
The photos opened in the middle of the screen. Jiang Zhan looked up.
With no prior warning, he was suddenly confronted with a familiar face in the middle of the photo.
The hand holding the glass paused as Jiang Zhan’s gaze fixated on the screen.
After a few seconds, he put down the glass, closed the photos, and opened the chatbox he had with Bubble King.
Photo Editor: I take back my previous statement.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: ??? Huh? (4)
Photo Editor: Not the same price as usual, 10 times that.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: B-b-b-b-b-b-b-bro, w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-why are you suddenly increasing your prices?
Photo Editor: They haven’t increased.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: ?
Photo Editor: The same price still applies to other celebrities.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: Let me ponder this for a sec. What you mean is, all other celebrities are still the original price, only Yao Yufei is not.
Photo Editor: Yes.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: why. (5)
Photo Editor: Reject uglies.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: ……
This Bubble King person used to be a fansite admin for a celebrity. Because they both had money and lots of spare time, they often would hire Jiang Zhan to edit photos. After that celebrity was exposed for having an affair and domestic violence, Bubble King became an anti-fan. However, they didn’t leave the entertainment fancircle, rather, started managing Jiang Zhan’s orders.
What needed to be edited, what orders would be accepted, how the money would be transferred, this was all managed by Bubble King. Jiang Zhan’s only job was to edit photos.
Bubble King didn’t know how to react after seeing Jiang Zhan reply with those two words, “reject uglies”.
Ugly?
Yao Yufei could be considered ugly?
Of all the celebrities who debuted from a competition show this year, he was the most handsome!
But Bubble King didn’t dispute Jiang Zhan. Considering the ten times increase in cost and the “reject uglies” statement, he probably just didn’t want to accept this order.
If he didn’t want to accept it, then so be it. It’s not like anyone was forcing him.
Bubble King replied with a nodding head sticker to acknowledge understanding and swiftly went to reply to the customer.
Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes: Dear, terribly sorry, but Photo God has too many orders at the moment, so they won’t have any time. We can’t accept this order, sorry.
“Ah.” Lan Yinhui let out a cold scoff and put down his phone.
What a headache. From the company to photographers to his own people network, there were so many people who knew how to edit photos. Where did it make sense for him to make an alt account to find someone to pay to edit photos?
On another thought, could he be blamed?
After all, Yao Yufei was simply too hard to please.
Once the raw photos come out, he would always be dissatisfied with this and that. After it’s edited, even though everyone thought the photos weren’t bad, once he got the photos, he would insist on sending the photos back to be re-edited.
After it was re-edited, he would still be dissatisfied, going so far as to say that the edits didn’t display the temperament he wanted.
When asked what temperament he wanted and if he could provide some photos of other celebrities as examples, he himself couldn’t explain either.
Fed up with his bullsh*t, Lan Yinhui became angry even thinking about it.
He fumed as he walked toward the dance studio.
When he got to the studio, to his surprise, he didn’t see anyone practicing.
Yao Yufei had gone to the company immediately after his plane landed. Perhaps he was tired, but he was currently sitting cross-legged on the floor. He was arched over his phone, intensely staring at the screen. He was unmoving and seemed to be lost in thought.
Lan Yinhui purposely lightened his steps and walked over, hoping to sneak a peek at what he was looking at. When he got closer, he bent over and took a quick look at the screen.
Yao Yufei seemed to be entranced by a photo of a man?
“Who’s this!?”
Yao Yufei jumped. Who knows what he felt guilty about, but his face turned white. By the time he lifted his head, Lan Yinhui had taken his phone.
Holding the phone, Lan Yinhui stood up and lowered his head to take another look. Only now did he find out this photo had been zoomed in on.
The original photo angle was a little far away but the photo itself was clear. The photo was of a man wearing a white t-shirt pushing a luggage cart and sporting a backpack on one shoulder. The man’s eyes were clear and his expression was bright. All in all, quite handsome.
Lan Yinhui raised his eyebrow and held out the phone facing toward Yao Yufei. In a questionable tone, “Who is it, for you to lose focus like that?”
Yao Yufei furrowed his brow and made a swipe for his phone. “No one, give it back.”
Lan Yinhui avoided his hands. With the spirit of a detective, he asked, “Someone you used to know? Classmate? Friend?”
Yao Yufei didn’t answer, prepared to steal his phone back.
Seeing as the color on his face had changed, Lan Yinhui remembered something. He stared for a bit, his eyes expressing shock. “It wouldn’t be that ex-boyfriend you broke up with, right?”

(1) 老韦 - Lao Wei - Ol’ Wei A sort of term of endearment when addressing a person (typically a friend). The direct translation would be Old Wei, Old being the term of endearment, and Wei being Wei Guangkuo’s last name.
(2) 嗯 - En A sound of acknowledgement or agreement.
(3) 梦之蓝 - Meng zhi Lan - Dream Blue A wine bottle name: http://www.yangheglobal.com/mengzhilan-series.html
(4) 王泡泡想开大飞机 - Bubble King Wants To Operate Large Airplanes Author suddenly changed it from 王泡泡会开大飞机 to 王泡泡想开大飞机, so I also changed it in English from “can” to “wants to”
(5) This text was originally in English, so I just italicized it to note the difference.

Welcome to XiaLan's Tumblr. I'm just a hobbyist translator (only CN->EN, or EN->CN), translating things for fun on my own time. I have no schedule, it really depends on how busy I am that week.

My qualifications?
Honestly, idk. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese, but that doesn't make me perfect. There may be things that aren't 100% correct, so feel free to let me know! Sometimes it may just be that I didn't know how to express it well in English, because English being my first language doesn't mean crap either. We're all for a fun time here, not for a serious time, ok!
Can you translate x,y,z?
Sure, if I find it interesting, I'm down to do so, but I'm literally just one person, so probably two projects is the max I can handle at once. I usually like just fluffy stories with no long-winded angst and toxicity, but these are always the types of stories to never get translated or get dropped because it's not popular enough in the English danmei fandom. I do realize these stories might not get loved as much, but I'm just making myself happy here!
Do you need help?
YES! If you want to help edit, I would be ever so grateful. I just post without editing so if it makes sense it makes sense, if it doesn't lol I'll fix it in post ig. If you want to help, feel free to contact me on Discord @ imperfectlantern.
Can I donate?
While I appreciate the thought, please give your donation to a charity of your choice instead (づ๑•ᴗ•๑)づ♡ They need it way more than I.
