‘ crap ! ‘ the exclamation rang out of her lips before she could even process what was going on. not a second after the sharp sound of metal clashing on the floor shot another spike of adrenaline through her veins. looking down she realized that her shoes and jeans were basically ruined, but even worse the floor of the supply closet was covered in a pool of paint. a stream of curses flew out under her breath as she frantically searched around the room for a mop or a towel or anything that could help clean the mess to no avail. biting her lip she accepted defeat and snuck out onto the shop floor looking for the closest co worker she could find ‘ um, ‘ she cleared her throat a nervous smile on her lips ‘ you wouldn’t happen to know where the mop is ? ‘

𝐬𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧  𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡        &  peeked  his  head  towards  the  sound  of  the  supply  closet .    eyebrows  picked  up  questioning  what  could’ve  happened .    although ,   he  figured  that  if  they  weren’t  asking  for  him  then  he  didn’t  need  to  care  about  it .    he  went  back  to     skipping  up   &   down     the  aisles ,   head  bopping  with  the  music .    addison  caught  the  his  eye   &   he  offered  her  a  smile  before  slowing  down  to  stop .    he  noticed  how  nervous  she  looked   &   the  smile  turned  down  into  a  small  frown  as  his  eyebrows  furrowed  together .    the  mop  ?    he  puckered  his  lips  as  he  glanced  down  to  what  he  was  holding .    there ,   stationed  between  his  two  legs     riding  it  like  a  broom ,     was  the  mop .                    ❝       uuuhhhhhh .       yes ,   actually ,     ❞                    sebastian  said ,   moving  the  mop  to  hand  over  to  addison .                     ❝     want  help  ?     ❞

❝     𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐨    . . .    i  was  at  the  coffee  shop  when  i   REALIZED   that  i  had  a  stamp  coupons  that  was     completely  filled     which  means  that  i  got     two  coffees  for  the  price  of  one !      &  while  i  could  just  drink  the  both  of  them ,   i  figured  i  would  give  the  other  to  you .    it’s  just  a  plain  black  coffee  because  i’m  not     entirely  sure     of  what  you  liked ,     ❞                    sebastian  explained ,   holding  out  a  cup  towards  his  coworker  with  a  bright  smile  on  his  face .    now ,   did  he  already  have  at  least  two  cups  of  coffee ?    yes .    HOWEVER ,   he  ran  on  at  least  five  cups  of  coffee  a  day  which  he  was  at  halfway  right  now .    what  he  wasn’t  going  to  say  was  that  he  was  up  all  night  &  drank  two  energy  drinks  during  that  time .    but  that’s  okay  because  he  rearranged  his  entire  apartment  which  was  a  task  he’d  been  putting  off  for  quite  some  time .

‘ i think we should get a cat, ’  he says, apropos of nothing, fingers brushing absentmindedly over the top of the bucket of records they’re sorting through. ‘ for the store, i mean, ’ he adds to clarify, ‘ don’t give me that look, just hear me out for a sec— ’ all pretense of helping to sort through the records is dropped—although to be fair, joe has soft-banned him from handling any of the merchandise ever since he managed to misplace an entire box of 80s classics—as he turns towards the other, eyes shining. ‘ did you know that petting a cat can reduce stress and anxiety ? and people love cats. we could totally increase foot traffic if we had a cat. ’ 

𝐚𝐭  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞  𝐨𝐟  𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 ,   sebastian  stopped  what  he  was  doing  which  wasn’t  really  anything  that  magnificent  &  started  listening .    when  mentioned  getting  a  cat ,   his  eyebrows     rose  up     in  suspicion .    getting  a  cat  for  the  store  would  be  a     great  way     to  bring  in  customers  plus  just  think  of  the  hours  he  could  spend  petting  the  store  cat !                    ❝     a  cat  sounds  interesting .    although ,   we’d  have  to  run  it  by  joe  &  i  don’t  think  that  he’d  like  that  very  much .    so    . . .    we  just   HIDE   the  cat .    that’s  it ,   james ,   put  down  those  records  we’re  going  cat  shopping .    &  of  course ,   if  we  don’t  get  the  cat  from  the  shelter  then  we’re  doing  it  wrong .     ❞

⋆ * ✰ —   (   elliot  fletcher .    22 .    he  /  him .    trans  male .   )        i  hope  that  SEBASTIAN  MCCURE        isn’t  late  for  their  shift  again .    i  swear  to  god  they  can  be  so     guarded  &  forgetful     sometimes .    then  again  i  know  joe  hired  them     two  years  ago     because  they’re     agreeable  &  organized   ,    whatever .    every  time  they’re  working  they  always  want  to  play        karma  chameleon  by  culture  club ,         it  kinda  drives  me  up  the  wall .    i  think  they  ended  up  working  at  empire  because  he  moved  back  into  town .    they  remind  me  so  much  of  worn  out  converse  paired  with  jean  jackets ,   chipped  black  fingernail  polish ,   spending  money  you  don’t  have  to  feed  the  caffeine  addiction .

sebastian  logan  mccure   . . .   man ,   what  a  guy .    he’s  a  huge  ass  nerd  &  enjoys  all  types  of  things .    if  i  had  to  put  him  into  a  type ,  it  would  be    VAGABOND .    he’s  rather  much  of  an  explorer  &  thrives  off  of  the  bare  minimum  of  the  materialistic  things .    he’s  much  more  content  with  a  simple  couch  for  a  bed  than  a  house  with  more  than  4  rooms .    he’s  never  satisfied  with  anything  he  does  &  always  dream  of  becoming  one  of  those  van - life  people  due  to  the  simplicity  they  have .    the  one  thing  he  will  splurge  on  is  making  sure  that  he’s  updated  with  the  newest  phone  &  getting  a  new  computer  every  couple  of  years .    other  than  that ,   catch  sebastian  at  the  local  grocery  store  getting  ramen  noodles  or  at  the  thrift  store  getting  clothes  &  other  things  he  may  need  to  keep  his  studio  apartment  comfortable .    he  does  tend  to  spend  more  time  in  his  hammock  outside  &  at  empire  records  than  anywhere  else .    it  isn’t  even  surprising  to  find  him  sleeping  in  the  back  room  of  the  store  before  or  after  a  shift .    he  is  the  type  of  guy  who  can  &  does  lip  sync  to  every  song  &  dances  along  without  any  qualms  because  life  is  too  short  not  to  have  fun .

he  grew  up  in  derby  for  most  of  his  life  with  an  adoring  mother ,   a  step-father ,   &  a  younger  brother .

the  family  was  pretty  much  okay  other  than  being  exposed  to  very  toxic  masculinity  &  a  toxic  mindset  from  his  step-father ,   paul ,   at  such  a  young  which  in  time  turned  into  mental  abuse .

sebastian  took  the  brunt  of  the  abuse  from  paul  due  to  the  fact  that  he  wasn’t  paul’s  own  child  like  his  younger  brother ,   alexander ,   was .

when  sebastian  came  out  as  trans  when  he  was  9  years  old ,   paul  didn’t  like  that  in  the  slightest  &  made  the  abuse  even  worse  to  the  point  of  threatening  of  violence .

but  that  didn’t  stop  sebastian  for  being  who  he  was  &  his  brother  &  mom  showed  their  absolute  support  &  love .

it  did ;  however ,   help  spur  huge  dysphoria  which  is  still  a  struggle  he  has  to  overcome 

during  his  middle  school  days ,   sebastian  would  find  solace  at  empire  records .

he  would  spend  every  day  after  school  there  whether  he  was  doing  homework ,   listening  to  music ,   or  bothering  the  workers  with  questions .

empire  records  became  his  home  away  from  home  &  was  the  only  place  that  made  him  feel  safe .

when  he  was  11  years  old ,   his  mother ,  adelaine ,   started  him  on  puberty  blockers  secretly  without  paul  knowing  &  started  saving  up  money  in  case  sebastian  wanted  to  get  top  &  bottom  surgery .

we  just  stan  adelaine ,   okay .    she’s  11 / 10  mom .

paul  caught  on  after  a  few  years .

at  this  point ,   paul  became  unbearable  &  adelaine  filed  for  divorce  &  promptly  moved  out  of  the  house  with  sebastian  &  alexander  to  move  a  couple  of  states  of  over  in  with  her  sister .

during  this  stint  of  being  away  from  derby ,   sebastian  was  14 - 19 ,   just  turning  20 .

in  this  time ,  he  did  get  top  surgery  when  he  was  18

was  voted      “ best  smile ”      &      “ most  likely  to  become  famous ”      in  high  school

&  fought  a  bigger  fight  of  being  bisexual .

with  the  toxic  mindset  of  growing  up  thanks  to  paul ,   he  struggled  hard  with  internalized  homophobia  finding  himself  disgusted  most  of  the  time  with  himself  which  didn’t  help  at  all .

sebastian  came  to  terms  with  his  sexuality  when  he  was  17  but  often  times  still does  those  intrusive  thoughts  that  who  he  loves  is  absolutely  wrong

the  reason  why  he  moved  back  to  derby  is  because  he  had  something  to  prove .

sebastian  had  to  prove  to  paul  that  he’s  comfortable  with  who  he  is  &  isn’t  ashamed  of  it .   he’s  finally  able  to  express  himself  fully  &  embraces  that .

however ,   when  he  moved  back ,   he  found  out  that  paul  found  another  wife  &  actually  moved  away  from  derby  a  couple  of  years  prior .

sebastian  was  reliving  his  years  spent  at  empire  records  when  joe  approached  him  &  asked  if  he  would  like  a  job  &  sebastian  wasn’t  about  to  turn  that  down .

he’s  been  working  here  for  two  years  now .

living  in  a  small  studio  apartment  that’s  only  a  block  away  with  an  adorable  cat  named  frankie .
