Lessons

I learned so much from today, and strangely it started out as such a regular, ordinary day: 1) Just because you're used to people casting you away, not everyone will do that. 2) Its okay to take risks, because sometimes those risks will pay off. 3) Sometimes it's hard to let go of the past. And everyone will tell you that it will be the hardest thing you ever do. But you won't ever really know how truly hard it is until you have to let something or someone from your past go. 4) Clinging to a safety net is okay sometimes. But if you want to move on and be happy in life, cut down those nets. Cast aside the safety you so desperately hang on to, and let life show you the joy you can have. 5) Just because you've never been treated the way you deserve, doesn't mean that one day you won't find the girl who sees how lucky she is. Its strange to think just how much Hayley has taught me over our short time together. But ya know what? I'm starting to laugh again. I'm starting to smile again. But most of all, I'm starting to be happy and have fun WITHOUT having to rely on one solitary person. I will always love my Annie. But I may have finally found the one girl who can compete with her, even if there is no competition to speak of...

Have you ever met someone who’s absolutely perfect? Her smile, her laugh, her personality and then you find out that they don’t think they deserve better than they are getting. Their girlfriend makes them think that being treated shitty is okay.. Honestly that’s NOT okay and never will be. How could someone treat a girl like that and not feel like shit about it. That’s what I call a terrible person. NO ONE should ever think that’s okay. Amazing

Its strange that I can feel completely calm when talking to her.. Usually I freeze up and get all nervous and flushed. Yet with her, its just like holding a conversation with my friend. I can talk to her about anything and she just smiles and accepts it. Hell, today we talked about all my exes! And strangely, she wants to meet my family and my roommates. She wants to see my house and get to know me for who I am, which is something I'm not really used to. I'm used to people wanting to see me because of what I can do for them, what I offer. With her, I offer nothing but friendship and maybe someday a relationship. But I refuse to jump the gun and push into anything quickly. I won't chase her off with talk of a relationship. I'll let her bring it up. And who knows, maybe I just made my new best friend? Maybe she came into my life as Annie left because she is meant to fill that void for a while? Anyway, I'm glad I found her. And until the day I get into trouble, I'll walk the mile to see her every night as she works. It makes us both happy when I walk in those doors, so I'll keep doing it. For both of us.
