Okay, I had to remind myself this today but! Rest is an activity. It's a gentle activity, yes, but it is an activity. You're not "doing nothing" you are recovering from whatever taxing thing and preparing for future taxing things. Lying there cranky about having to rest will ruin the quality of your rest. As will beating yourself up or being annoyed at yourself for "doing nothing." You're not doing nothing. You're investing time into giving your body the best shot it has at getting through tomorrow unscathed. Rest is something you Actively Choose To Do in order to Feel Better or at least Not Worse. It's like when you plug in a phone. You say it's charging. As in, charging is an activity the phone is doing. Charge your body too.

how would everyone in the king’s army react if they found out about his abuse of lain?
there definitely would be people within the army who would change their entire opinion on the King and revolt or desert (Sycamore for one would march her straight ass over there and attempt to kill the bastard herself if she got confirmation of what he did to Lain), but I think, given the toxic masculine environment The King has cultivated in the army with likeminded people like him at the top, a lot wouldn't care.

I’m confused were the soldiers aware of what the king had been doing to Lain? This is just a guess considering the implications that captain frost gave. It feels like they knew something was up. Or at least frost did. Because why else would he accuse lain of sleeping his way to the top and subtly slut shaming him?
I do not want this to seem mean but rumors exist. This is an army of primarily men who see the king being very close to someone who is young (Lain is an adult in this flashback, just a young one) who they see as not being worthy of his rank; of course there's going to be rumors that Lain's sleeping around to get his way to the top (Lain being trans also has a hand in the rumors being so widespread. the transmisogyny). It's just extreme gross locker room talk.
No one knows the extent to which the King and Lain are involved. The King would not want the full extent of their relationship getting out and he's set it up in a way where it won't. Frost is just spouting rumors at Lain to get under his skin bc he's a dick head and mad that Lain is a higher rank than him despite being younger.

i think it's incredibly fascinating how the cats in the king's army could've (and probably did) see signs of grooming between the king and lain but they never really cared or if they did care all of the blame was put on lain because he was "unfairly advancing." it's an incredibly poignant part of the story and corroborates the real life fact that a lot of abusers, the vast majority of them, aren't acting alone and have systems and enablers in place to be complacent and even encourage their horrible actions. very good writing i love this story overall so far
exactly. It's something i don't see touched on a lot, I often just see "there's just this one bad egg and once we get rid of them everything will be fine" when that is rarely ever the case. It doesn't help that The King is at the top of that ladder, so he can just appoint people who he knows wouldn't care/would agree with him at the top the social hierarchy making it harder for people who DO care to actually do anything.
Yeah..... </3 It's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better I'm sorry to say

hi everyone! the developer of the website I host Explorerz on is having a hard time covering his monthly costs. i think Comicfury is such a wonderful space for comics and one of the few remaining websites that values art over predatory profiteering. Kyo makes it a point to keep the game level - ads are opt-in, custom css for comics is available to everyone, etc. if you can spare a couple bucks each month (the lowest tier is $3 which shakes up to 36 dollars a year), you’d be preserving one of bastions of creator-centered webcomic culture and helping it continue its growth!

SM3 AU where Shadow saves Robotnik and then joins the... family?? They're stuck in the UK whilst Robotnik recovers (AGAIN!) from radiation sickness this time. Robotnik spends his time terrorising the small town. Stone is a takeaway delivery guy on his motorbike. Shadow's family situation will never be normal.
Got wayyy more thoughts on this but i wanna draw more pics...
