It's been a few weeks from release, so here is my full piece for the @monochrome-walker zine! If you haven't had a chance to check the whole thing out, I suggest you do-- there is plenty of amazing art and writing in it!

If Sherlock Holmes was Isekai'd to a fantasy world he would just deduce the rules of this world and get back to solving crimes. He'll find an elf girl sidekick,name her Watson, and pretend like nothing happened.

Ok as promised here is the tutorial for how I mend my binders so that they still stretch!

Supplies:

- binder (obv)

-needle and thread, I’m only using embroidery thread here so it shows up better

That’s kind of it, if you want you can also use a pen to mark the lines of the seam and an embroidery hoop to hold but but neither are really necessary

Like you can see here there are gonna be two lines you’re seeing on. Most seams already have two lines that you can follow especially on stretch fabric but if not then just mark it in

Now for the actual stitch pattern.

You move in kind of an “x” pattern, if you’re familiar with backstitch it’s a little like you’re working two lines at a time of back stitch.

When you’re done, the front should have two lines of something that looks like backstitch or running stitch, depending how close your stitches are to each other, and the back should have a pattern of crosses like this

And that’s it! It still stretches and is just as durable if not more than the machine stitched seams that the garment comes with.

me: Hm, I have an idea for a textured stitch pattern I could use on a sock. A nice, basic sock with some texture, yep.

me: The beginning of the round makes a jog in my repeating texture, which annoys me. I could add a narrow vertical stripe, just a couple of stitches, ribbing maybe, to make the break in the pattern look like an intentional design feature. It's still pretty simple, though.

me: Actually this vertical stripe should be a little wider, more of a decorative panel, so I can put some cable-y things on it.

me: Now I need to decide how to end the textured section, and make a transition into plain stockinette for the foot.

me: plain stockinette is boring, I think it needs a little border just before the toe.
