I think another thing that suffers is recs are usually posted on discord nowadays. Rec lists are slowly dying off in my opinion... Or is that just me :(

I remember curating an entire list of bmblby fics in an excel file that were all recommended in the first big bang's discord fic channel... Let me see if I can unearth it :)

negatively vagueposting in a relatively small fandom about respected writers when most members of this fandom know who you’re talking about comes across as petty and mean. doesn’t really lend itself to making me want to engage with your posts or fic.

i mean, i never said anything negative about the authors themselves, nor did i even say anything bad about their fics (many of which i’ve read and enjoyed), but that they’re always the same fics and authors that get recommended. it’s futile because they’re on so many lists and everyone knows about them and has read them, so to me there just doesn’t seem like much of a point in recommending the same thing over and over? eventually it’ll just become a cycle that locks out people looking for new fics they haven’t already read while simultaneously giving up-and-coming writers or less popular writers less of a chance to share their works, which i’ve seen a lot of people dejected by to the point of quitting writing fic at all

i’m sorry if me saying this upsets you or makes you not want to engage with my posts anymore; i’m confident and appreciative of my audience and my friends, but i don’t like hurting people or chasing them away. despite that, my concern still stands, and we really do need to be better about sharing new works by different writers so that the fandom can thrive for everyone

I feel like such a hypocrite for being both a bumbleby shipper but also wanting to see Yang fight at maximum power, which considering how her semblance works means her being on the brink of death but continuing to fight through sheer grit and resolve- That’s just metal as fuck and I want to see it.
