There is the parallels of Grian causing Mumbos deaths, but actually, Mumbo caused his own deaths. It's a classic lesson on the butterfly effect.

At the end of session 5, in a desperate attempt to succeed his task, Mumbo got martyn to do bets about jumping over a campfire. Grian, who had to join in on bits that session, did not participate and hit succeed falsely. This caused him to reroll for a hard task this session and need to summon the wither paired up with Ethos warden.

If Mumbo didnt play with fire, Grian would have had no reason to be in the nether looking for a fortress, and Mumbo would have had no reason to be there either.

And Etho likely would have had a different hard task if it wasnt a joint task with Grian. So Mumbo wouldnt have been fighting the Warden in the first place.

But even if that wasnt the case, and Etho still had to summon a warden... Mumbo got hung up on two fence posts running away from it.. the very two fence posts Mumbo placed a couple episodes earlier.
