I love how contrasted the track titles are, like there are the poetic and dreamy ones (lavender haze, midnight rain, bejeweled) and there are the brutal and honest ones (you’re on your own kid, vigilante shit, karma), either way it feels like a threat- she’s gonna end us all

i know that we have only had a slight glimpse into the midnights era as of this exact moment, but it is so incredibly clear to me that taylor has crafted an honest, soul-baring compendium of stories that will bring us comfort and make us feel understood and less alone during our darkest nights. being vulnerable is so scary and difficult — even more so when you are revealing a number of your fears, deepest scars, and lowest moments to a world full of people who have been perpetually praying on your downfall — so i hope she knows how thankful we all are that she has kept the door to her heart open.

midnights is dark 1989. 1989 was the party, midnights is the aftermath. everyone has gone home. there’s glitter on the floor. it’s sultry, it’s sad, it’s sweet, it’s maddening. it’s folklore’s heart wrenching honesty, but 1989’s synth and image. we’re not in the london countryside anymore, we’re back on the streets of new york city

There's something very romantic about the fact that this album likely wouldn't exist without the process of her combing through her old albums and reliving all of the memories associated with the music that got her to where she is. This is going to be so so so special.

Autumn makes me want to live in a small town with tons of history and character. Leaf-strewn cobblestone streets. Old buildings and homes that range from small cottages to large estates. Maple, oak, and pine trees line the streets and cluster in yards, and when they all turn orange and gold in the fall it’s the most beautiful sight. Small local businesses thrive. It’s walking distance to your favorite coffee shop or diner. There’s an ancient library on the edge of town with the greatest selection of books, comfy armchairs, tables, and big windows to read by. Time moves slower there. Everything is safe.

I love Lover. I love all of the fun, new and interesting sounds Taylor was able to experiment with on the record. I love how everytime she talks about this album she lights up. I love the happiness and joy that stems from the short lived era. I love that that this is the first album she owns.
