hey there! i think the premise behind your zine is super cute! i just had a few questions about how it's being run. is it limited acceptance, or come one come all? the application doesn't ask for email or discord; how do you plan to ensure contributors are meeting check-ins on time? are the merch options you've suggested intended to be physical?

In regards to discord/email, it was intended to be included on the form, but it must've been removed by accident if it isn't on there but we did request at least one of the applicants socials so we can send them the discord server link.

Acceptance into the zine isn't fully limited but we will be taking a look at the applicants social media and works to ensure they won't be spreading negativity should they be invited to work on the zine.

Checkins will be done via discord.

Initially merch and the zine was intended to be physical but due to limitations we will be doing the zine physical with the option for printable merch, we are looking into a means of making physical merch distributable without extreme shipping costs which has been the primary barrier as to inclusion

Yes, if you just send us a message to our Tumblr with what your old usernames used to be and what they have been changed to that is perfectly fine

When is the deadline to apply? I'd love to contribute but I don't have an idea just yet, I just wanted to know how long I can wait to apply. I also don't have much work to show. I've been writing short stories and novels for years but I don't post them online. I'll see what I can do.

I read your rules on the definition of a crackship and I just need to make sure. I don't see anything that says fe character x fe character (of another game) (ex. Ephraim x Chrom or Lucina x L'Archel). It was somewhat mentioned but only in a Warriors sense. Are those type of crackships allowed?

Yes, those types of crackships are allowed, any all crackships across the fandom are allowed.

Zine Rules

As with all projects there has to be a few rules:

Pairings cannot be incestuous in nature. Any pairings where the character shares blood is not allowed (Eirika x Ephraim, Corrin x Azura, Ike x Mist, Byleth x Rhea), where characters were raised in a sibling, parent etc type relationship is also not allowed (Micaiah x Sothe, Corrin x the Nohrian Royals) and last but not least pairings featuring couplings where they were raised to believe they are blood siblings/children etc but at the last moment they were revealed to be not related are not allowed, (corrin x the hoshidan royals, Almheda x Zelgius), the only exception to this rule is pairings in which their parents were married but they were not raised together.

Pairings cannot feature an adult and minor. (If the game features a timeskip and both characters are adults post timeskip the pairing is allowed so long as it is depicted as such).

The constituent definitions for a crack ship: a pairing that does not share a support conversation in their respective games (Sylvain x edelgard, Frederick x Emmeryn, Tethys x Ephraim), a pairing featuring a fe character and a non fe character (Lucina x Spiderman, Clive x Kermit), has a support conversation in warriors that does not occur in their respective games (Chrom x Camilla).

The constituent definition for a rare pair: a pairing that shares supports in their respective game with less than 150 works on ao3 or ffnet (less than 50 for games prior to fates).

No harrassment towards contributors based upon their; race, age, religion, ships, sexuality, nationality, gender etc; will be tolerated, anyone who fails to abide this rule will be reported and banned.

Zine Announcement

After weeks of speculation and planning we are pleased to announce the; In Another Life Fire Emblem Zine. This zine will feature art and short fics about various crackships and rarepairs across the Fire Emblem games. At this point in time we are collecting fan interest in the production of the zine as well as determining key features about the final format of the zine.

Interest Check Form:

We will be collecting interest for the next two weeks up until the 25th of March, and from there an announcement will be made as to the format of the zine, and application forms for writers and artists will be released.
