cranberryshortcake,
Thank you for being incredibly helpful and providing more than enough information. I deeply appreciate it. Maybe one day I can be as literate in comic books as you are and we can hold a conversation about them. Or I can place blame on you when I am sleeping on a mattress made of books and comics.
I am unsure as to my answer to my own question. I think your answer is a good one and may mirror my own feelings on matter of the simple decisions in life. Of course I would allow someone to learn from their mistakes if it was regarding something like not turning on their blinker or for forgetting their phone charger when I asked them to bring it. But when thinking of the more serious aspects of what that question could mean, I don't know. It isn't that I am that petty but because I am unsure of whether I could recover from something like the betrayal of cheating. (I use this as my example because I was reading an article over it earlier today, but I suppose it is a good one for the topic of relationships given the origin of the town's want to create this anonymous email opportunity.)
I don't think I am as brave as you when it comes to that risk of closing ones self off. I know that is what love is, it is the knowledge that grief is to follow eventually, but that's precisely what scares me about it!
Anyway, I will give you the opportunity to ask the next question we discuss!
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Dear indignentmarker,
If you go to the Comic Barn here in Swynlake, you'll be well taken care of. Both Nick and Al are very knowledgeable and if you give them any kind of baseline, they'll give you plenty of places to get started without it being overwhelming. Just say you're a new comic reader, interested in X-men and redemption arcs, and they'll take care of you.
I promise, I don't work there. But I've been a frequent customer, so I know them both pretty well.
As for second chances, I do.
Of course, it depends a little bit on what happened. There are some things that are hard to come back from, some hurts its hard to forgive. But I do feel like it's worth it to try. Even if I get hurt again, I know it would be worse not to have tried at all.
Not that I'm perfect at it. Like I said, there re some hurts that are hard to forgive. But I don't want to risk becoming too closed off to it.
Do you?
All the best,
indignentmarker

cactusassessment,
Thank you, I had a lot of thoughts on the question.
Do you have sensitive eyes?
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Indignentmarker,
Anything is fine!
And wow, that is such a thoughtful answer for such a shitposty question and honestly? Love it. That's a great idea though I think blood would be less terrifying if it were grey.
For me, I think yellow actually. No real reason besides, sometimes, lemons and other yellow things reflect light a little too well and hurt my eyes. Get it way, I'm inconvenienced.

cranberryshortcake,
You should! I would encourage you to put it into some sort of publication in the future as well.
Thank you for the very expansive explanations. I will attempt to bring these to our local comic book store when I can! I am sure the people working there will be able to point me in the right direction even if I get some of yours confused on my way in. From the little bit of detail you've given me they seem like very interesting reads.
Though I am going to have to point out that I think this brings us to the end of that thread of conversation. Is there another you would like to take up? I suppose it's my turn to ask the question since you did the last?
Feel free to ignore mine and ask your own if it does not suffice or you simply do not wish to.
Do you believe in the second chance?
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Dear indignentmarker,
I might need to screenshot the wise comment. That's usually not the kind of compliment I end up getting, so thank you for that.
Honestly, bloopers might be the best part of a DVD. it's so much fun to get to see the way the cast have fun with each other, or get to see this incredible stars making mistakes and being human. If it wasn't obvious, I really like to laugh.
I suppose getting told that you enjoy everything does leave a wide open field for recommendations.
But, if you like redemption arcs, I think I'm still going to recommend the X-Men comics. Magneto is one of the earliest villains in the comics history (and he's usually one of the main villains whenever they make movies) but he's drifted into being an ally and out again depending on the story arc. A lot of the mutants on his team also are sometimes allies and sometimes antagonists for the X-Men, depending on the story. Also, some of the original heroes fall into being antagonists for a time.
If you want to get started at an early introduction point, Giant Size X-Men is a really good way to get introduced to a lot of the characters. The House of X/Powers of X arc is interesting for some of those redemption aspects and sort of an imagined future. And I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend the Dark Phoenix Saga since that's one of the most famous and they keep trying to do it in film (but haven't done it well yet).
I hope that's enough to get you started without being overwhelming. The thing about comics is you can pick almost anywhere to start since there's no way to read it all. Find the pieces you like, and follow those until you stop enjoying it.
All the best,
CranberryShortcake

amusedfawning,
Interesting! Then maybe you will take comfort in that I think we, as in those that have lived on Earth, have been doing it for ages, haven't we? It's the subject of a great many pieces of literature, songs, and other forms of stories. People put out personal ads in the news paper searching for others in an anonymous way. So, just know you're not the first nor the last that will be reaching out through words.
As for your question! A shower thought I have had recently is that our memories are like a door to our pasts while the imagination is the window to the future. Which is not new or profound, but I've just been mulling it over lately.
What about you? What occupies your mind in the shower?
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Marker,
You know, I'm not entirely sure. I guess it has more to do with the fact that this concept is so foreign to me. Though that isn't to say I don't have people that I speak to only through dm's and instant messaging. But I didn't enter into a lot of those friendships without having met the person first, either through my travels or things for work.
It's just... strange, isn't it? But not in the worst way.
But I think starting off with just conversation is perfect. We can see what all we have in common. Or things we don't. I think it'll be interesting either way.
So my question for you now is: What is a shower thought you've had recently?

amusedfawning,
I admire that belief very much! I only wish that more people had it, too.
Well you never know unless you don't try, so kudos to you for giving it a shot in the dark. I hope that you're able to find what you're looking for, whether it be with me or not. The least I can do is give you entertaining conversation in the mean time.
Though I would like to ask after why you don't think you could fall in love with someone through emails? What aspect about it holds you back?
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Marker,
Thank you for that offer. I will start off by telling you that I do not often keep my thoughts to myself. Whether it's in real life or through a computer. I believe in being your authentic self at all times.
As for what I want out of this. I'm not entirely sure. I did this on a whim. I suppose deep down, like plenty of others, I'm looking for a connection. A ~~love match~~ would be lovely but I also don't really see myself falling in love with someone through emails. But who knows? That's the fun of life, isn't it? Its little surprises and unexpected twists.
Hoping for the best,
Fawn

cranberryshortcake,
You a very wise person, please know I will be taking Life would be a lot harder if you don't find the places where you can laugh, with me to my grave.
Thank you. That's exactly how I feel about hard copies of things. Plus, you're right, the additional contributions added to those albums, like the sleeves with the lyrics and art, or the bonus features on films that would show the making of it or the bloopers or include a director's commentary. I miss those insights to the works, too.
Well then I think since you have no idea what you would do with the space that the comics aren't hurting anything by being a place holder for now. Until you can think of something that you'd rather have there instead of them, maybe don't feel too guilty over it.
That is a bit of a hard question and the answer will probably make it all the worse since it's this: I love all kinds of stories and characters. I will read anything. I get excited reading about anything, everything, nothing, and whatever else someone can come up with to put on the page. For example, today I got excited to read these emails as well as the menu at the local diner. I was very excited to read the news, even though it had been grave as of late. I was excited to get to read the book I'm reading as well. That may sound like a cop out but I promise, it's the truth! So, anything is a good recommendation but I know that is a very hard thing to narrow down given nothing to do so.
How about I say instead that I enjoy a nice redemption story as much as the next person.
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Dear indignentmarker,
I appreciate that. I'm glad it's different for my fellow comic book fans these days. But I've always been good at finding comfort in whatever makes me happy, no matter what other people thought. Life would be a lot harder if you don't find the places where you can laugh.
But I understand completely about physical media. There's something so satisfying still about all the different elements. Getting to hold the book and feel the pages turning faster and faster as you get excited about something. Lying on your bed and reading the album notes as you listen to a CD. I appreciate the convenience of having digital copies, but there's something about the old school method that I love.
Some comics, if they're in mint condition, are considered rare or collectible these days, but none of mine are. I've read them all too much for that. I'm not sure what I would do with the space though.
Hm, recommendations are a little tricky since we're still getting to know each other. I'd say the X-Men comics are a good place to start since they have such a wide cast it's easy to find a favorite, and then you can follow that character.
But what kinds of characters or stories do you like? What gets you excited to read about? I can probably make a better recommendation knowing that.
All the best,
CranberryShortcake

cranberryshortcake,
I'm sorry that you were made fun of for liking something that deemed no need to be made fun of. I'm glad you were still able to find joy within them despite what people said.
I can understand what you mean by that though! I hoard a lot of books myself. These days I know it would very easy to be rid of the physical copies and just carry everything around on my phone or computer, but I don't know. I like to have the physical copies. I'm the same way with music and movies, too. I try to buy them when I can on CD's still, even when everything is a streaming service or could be easily found somewhere online, even by non-legal means.
Comic books seem like something that is precious to have in physical form, though. More so than books, maybe? It's art as well as a story layered within those pages. I don't know much about them, but aren't some rare? Collectables? I think you have good reason to keep them! Even if they do weigh on you or take up space. Do you know what you would do with that place if you did part with them?
Do you have a favorite comic? Or perhaps a recommendation for someone who has never read any before? I am referring to myself of course! I've only gone so far as to read graphic novels but nothing within a serial or series.
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Dear indignentmarker,
As you said, they've come back around to being popular, but I've been a fan for a lot longer than that. I have a lot of memories of patiently saving up every bit of spare change I could to try and afford the newest comic, even if that money could have been better spent some other way. I still remember getting made fun of for loving them, but loving them anyway.
Culture might have caught up and made it a lot more mainstream, but the guilty pleasure aspect is old enough that it hasn't left that easily. Plus now I have boxes upon boxes of the comics and they're taking up a lot of my house and yet I still keep getting more. So that doesn't help.
But I completely understand how tempting that extra little bit of a nap is. It's so nice to get that little piece and feel a little bit lazy even if you have to rush after it because of it.
All the best,
CranberryShortcake

cactusassessment (or would you prefer CA?),
Understood!
That is a perplexing question you've given me! I have been thinking about it a lot, so much so that I have been unable to answer your email for quite some time. I am not colourblind so I've been able to experience all of these so it's been a bit like having to chose between what old friend I would leave behind to remain in my memories for the rest of my life.
I am assuming that since I am to give up one of these that as a result whatever would be left in its place would be an absence, just a grey left in its stead. I'm not wondering if I should have asked you this before sending this email but I have finally sat down to write it with an answer and don't wish to throw another variable on the grill for me to watch over.
It is with a heavy heart that I think I would have to give up the colour of red.
Without blue everyday would seem dreary since the sky would just be grey. In turn, any body of water that reflected it would, too, be left without the blueish tint. Any blue eyes I came across would be dimmed. Any bluebird, any colourful tropical fish. Also, for some reason, the thought of seeing Cookie Monster without the blue made me incredibly sad to think of.
Without yellow I think the world would be so much darker, too. Gone would be any pleasant brightness of a pineapple or banana. Lemons, the middle of a daisy would no longer pop. Smiley faces would lack their hues. I don't know, these all seem very superficial, but I don't think I could be without yellow.
Red I decided would be the sacrafice, despite it's deep beauty and attribution to the holidays. It's also the colour of blood, which I usually can not stomach.
What about you? Which would you go without?
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Hello!
For me, quite the same actually. I’m not really a romantic, I’m not expecting anything but interesting conversation out of this. Maybe my matches and I meet in person after this and we can skip the awkward “are we friends yet or not?” part of adult friendships and we have a hilarious how we became friends story.
In the spirit of discussing anything and everything. One color has to go, forever. Red, blue, yellow?

umberstood,
As I mentioned before, I will be honest with you, dear stranger. Anything you ask me I will answer, as shallow or as deep as it is. I have no qualms with whatever you wish to know. Unless, like I said, I think it would give me away.
The subject of my childhood is a pleasant one, though! Nothing of any significant value that affected me. At least I don't think. I've never been to therapy so I don't know on a professional level, only on a self level I suppose. My family is and was kind to me. I'm still very close to them. They're probably my best friends. But I guess that's the only thing I would say that I was lacking as a kid, actual friends. It's plagued me my entire life. I never do seem to be able to have the chance to make them. I would think it was a them problem but seeing as I'm the only one that who is the remaining variable I've long assessed that it's me.
So I suppose my traumas are a lot like others, getting bullied and feeling alone. Except I had a good family to go home to and food on the table to eat. All and all, I think I'd still be in the running for your hand if you'd have me.
I'll turn the question back around on you, if you wish to share. If not, you can change the subject at your desire.
Have a wonderful day!
indignentmarker
Dear indignantmarker,
I would be happy to pass over any small talk! I think that would expedite the process, good call.
Tell me about your childhood. Any traumas I should know about before trying to marry you? Too deep?
Hope you also have a lovely day!

cranberryshortcake,
That depends! I think if we were to discuss the contents of the comic books it may bring us to the same sort of conversations you've been having with your other matches. Or we could take the path of why you think that comic books, which I would argue have come back around in popularity and are looked upon with a higher regard these days, are considered a guilty pleasure to you? What brings you guilt to enjoy them?
Answer whichever way you'd like.
My guilty pleasure is that I sometimes will have a lie in when I know it will make me late for work. It's a pleasure because I get some sleep but it makes me feel guilty because I know I would still be fine if I didn't take that extra 10 minutes! Yet I still do it sometimes.
Have a wonderful day! indignentmarker
Dear indignentmarker,
I've had a few interesting conversations about books and movies through this already, so as much as I enjoy discussing them I think it would be interesting to talk about something new.
Then again, if I am to talk about my guilty pleasure, that would be comic books so I suppose it doesn't let the conversation stray too far from that, does it?
I'm open to any kind of conversation that appeals!
All the best,
CranberryShortcake

I hope this email finds you well and that you're having a productive day!
Since this is a unique opportunity to speak freely without the judgement of others or really one another since we have the choice of only ever being an email address to one another, I wanted to express that you are free to speak of whatever you wish to me! I don't mind talking about nothing or everything. What is it you are looking to get out of this experiment of sorts?
I'm here because I like talking to people and this seemed like a nice way to not have to worry about little things one usually does when meeting someone face to face. That is one good thing I think anonymity within the online realm has afforded us these days when people know how to respect it.

I hope this email finds you on a good note, and if not then I hope it can do some sort of lifting of your day to know there is someone out there wishing you well.
I'll start this off by asking you what you're looking for when you submitted to be apart of this just so that we're both on the same page as far as the conversation going forward.
For me, that's all I'm looking for. Conversation! So, know that you're in good company no matter how you answer the question. Also know that given the situation we're in I am not apposed to discussing anything and everything you wish.

I hope this email finds you in good spirits!
I understand that there is a few prompts already given to us by the people who have put this whole thing together so I will re-list them here:
What's the best book you ever read?
What's something crazy you've done on a whim?
How important is family to you?
Have you ever been in love?
What's your guilty pleasure?
Is there one of these that you'd want to discuss? Or would you want to go off book?

I hope this finds you well.
In an effort to be transparent, or as transparent as one can be through a pseudonym, I wanted to start by saying that I think we can probably forgo the small talk? We're writing to one another through email with no idea who the other is, I think it's a good opportunity to go ahead and shed the pleasantries and social norms of the everyday.
So, I will then task you with asking you to ask me a question given those parameters. Obviously you have no way of knowing if I will be entirely truthful or not other than my promise that I will be honest so long as you're not going after my identity! That would ruin the fun, I think.
Have a wonderful day! indignentmarker
