i cant get over the king charles portrait. they made that thing to age in his place. that painting hangs in the house of a too-friendly family you find in the post apocalyptic wasteland who inexplicably has a ready supply of fresh meat. if mario jumped into that painting he wouldn't find a charming platformer he would be flayed and hanged like a medieval criminal by an unseeable force in a droning red void. that painting is a color blindness test for people who work in IT but believe in the divine right of kings. that painting is going to weep the sequel to blood. after he dies charles is gonna crawl outta that thing like sadako.
Ok now that I finished it, I can say that Samflam starts off fairly slow. It has a good buildup until it abruptly jerks the wheel into off-road territory.
By now we've left the road of realistic hero society and are now operating on full-on tokusatsu rules.
Then, they drive the car through a fucking shopping mall, steamrolling their way through multiple subgenres and arcs within a few episodes each. Every arc is over in the blink of an eye.
And then, when you finally get out of the mall, it turns out that we've driven off of a cliffside and are now in free fall. The epitome of absurdity has been reached.
The free fall lasts about a moment or so as it turns out we've somehow landed back on the road we were driving on at the beginning of the series. Back to a (relatively) realistic society.
Then the car you're in explodes and you're left butt naked on the side of the road. All that's left is your car radio with a cassette that only contains the song "What is love" by Haddaway.
You wait for another car to drive by and pick you up, but it never does. The show's over already. Donezo.
Not many people here or on any social media know or care about this and that's a shame. But maybe, instead of reblogging one of the hundred posts again of people begging US Americans to go vote and also not vote for the orange rapist wannabe-dictator next year, we can reblog this.
Today (Dec 11th), it's finally decided, Poland will get a new government. The current ruling party PiS failed to get enough votes in parliament to continue their governing coalition. Instead a new coalition of opposition parties under Donald Tusk now gets the chance to form a government.
Polish people did that! They showed us that it is possible to stop the spiral into authoritarianism.
On October 15th they got up and voted, over 74% of them, the highest voter turnout (for free elections) in Polish history.
People realized where their country was heading, and a huge number of them mobilized and organized and said this has to be stopped. They said no to their current reactionary, misogynistic, anti-abortion, xenophobic, anti-european, anti-democratic, right-wing government.
The majority of the people voted yes for change, for progress, for democracy.
Barely anyone outside of Poland is paying attention to or talking about what is happening there and that's a great pitty and also pretty frustrating.
Especially since so many countries in Europe see a rise of right-wing, populist parties (recent example the Netherlands, like, really wtf?) - which is deeply concerning, alarming even.
And it makes what the Polish people achieved even more astonishing and admirable.
All countries, but especially those where democracy is threatened or seems lost already, should take note and take it as an example. There's still hope.
Israel has destroyed every university in Gaza but despite that, many students have continued their education thanks to Palestinian universities in the West Bank
Today is Armenian genocide remembrance day. On april 24, 1915 started mass deportations of hundreds of Armenian intelectuals and community leaders, who were (most of the time) eventually killed. Armenian women and children were systematically r//ed and forcibly converted into islam. There were more than 2 milion Armenians in ottoman empire prior to ww1, 1,5 milion of them were viciously killed. Three millennia of Armenian civilaziation in eastern Anatolis was fully destroyed. Turkey today refuses to acknowledge genocides of christian minorities in early 20th century.
Do you know that mass ethnic cleansing of Armenians in ottoman empire inspired Lemkin to coin the term 'genocide'?
Last year in september azerbaijan allied with turkey initiated a war against Armenia. More that 5000 Armenians were murdered, thousands of Armenia families had to live their ancestrial land to not get murdered. There are hundreds of vids on internet where armenian p.o.w.s are tortured. Recently azerbaijan opened a "museum" displayind dead or dying Armenians and kids were allowed to visit it.
Please educate yourself on Armenian genocide. You can also donate here to help Armenia. Thanks for reading!!
