Leon sat patient and curious with Obstagoon for the brief time that it was next to him, head tilted slightly as he watched Piers hunker down and whistle. "Cute" was never something that really came to mind about a lot of people for Leon but, the sight of the normally dower looking man reduced to laughter under a pile of fur and wagging tails was definitely cute.
He still wasn't really sure what he was supposed to be doing, but enthusiasm and the Pokemon's excitement got to him.
A snort, then a stifled giggle, followed by a boisterous laugh that brought tears to Leon's eyes.
"Haha! You good under there, Piers?" Leon laughed.
His natural impulse was to want to join in the pile, the Pokemons excitement and enthusiasm infectious. Thankfully, he didn't, as he was quite a bit sturdier than Piers, and the guy was already struggling under Obstagoon and the other two. He didn't need Leon's weight added into the mix.
"These guys your friends then I'm guessing?" Or maybe Piers's gift was that he had a natural affinity for pokemon like that? As he spoke, he approached, lowering himself to squat next to Piers with his arms resting on his knees. "They certainly like you a whole lot! You're lucky I've gotten better at impulse control, otherwise I probably would have followed suit, haha!"
"Not a problem then, I'll make sure to send it to ya later then. Unless you want Rotom to make a note of it now?" He wasn't entirely certain that he'd be able to send the other the message of the name now that he thought of it. Unless Leon was comfortable giving him his number or a text that is. Sure, the League had given him a list of his fellow associates' contact information in case of emergency but he didn't want to just assume it was okay to message outside of that reason.
Though he doesn't dwell on it for too long, more interested in making sure that the other man was okay still. Honestly Leon was far braver than he himself would've been in this situation... Piers no longer left without his team anywhere anymore. There was too much that he didn't trust to not blow up in his face should he be alone.
Piers gave the other a sure smile at the confidence that Leon showed and he nodded. "Heh, can't say I blame ya. I rarely ever left Spikemuth til this past year and it's been... nice to get out and about again." It reminded him of his time in his own gym challenge and that was a nice feeling for once. At the question Piers hummed and shook his head, "that would ruin the surprise Lee. Don't worry I know what I'm looking for."
The rocker shoots him a rare grin, normally something he only saved for when he was performing on stage. Then he leads the way into the Wild Area for a short spell, being quiet and seeming to listen to the sounds around them before stopping to notice exactly what he'd been looking for. He took out Obstagoon's duskball and summoned the big guy out, petting him on the head before looking to Leon. "This one is perfect. Alright, hope yer ready for this. Just wait over here with Obstagoon alright?"
After the little request to wait, Piers walked over to the patch of grass, knelt down and gave a decently loud whistle, obviously catching the Pokemon's attention as the grass stopped moving. It was still for a second before two shapes bounded out of the grass and tackled into the rocker's arms harmlessly. It was two wild Zigzagoon, soon followed by a wild Linoone to join them in running up for the impromptu cuddle pile happening in Piers' arms. He was about to call the former champion over before he gave a loud surprised grunt as his own Obstagoon ran over to join in the cuddle pile after tackling his trainer to the ground.
Thankfully though it soon results in laughter as the pokemon all sniffed and rubbed against him demanding pets and affection from the dark type master. "Oi, oi, I only have two hands you lot!" He didn't sound mad at all from under the fluff pile.

"Yeah, that'd probably be for the best." Leon snorted, the adrenaline starting to wear off and the humor of the situation starting to sink in. It was fine to laugh a little at it; Emmet hadn't gotten splatted so it was fine to find amusement in it. Especially since Emmet was always the safe one!
He was pretty sure Emmet had had to fish him off the tracks in Nimbasa at least once - though the station had been closed at that point and he'd gotten lucky that that rail was shut down the begin with. So maybe it wasn't anything alike situation-wise.
He laughed, releasing Emmet's arms and running a hand through his hair.
Buck up, Leon! Disaster was avoided!
"Unova's the one with the weird way of recording dates and times," He replied, tone teasing and gold eyes bright with mischief. "I can''t read those things to save my life!" And that was why he relied on his friends and boss to tell him when and where to go and what the train schedules were whenever they were in the Unova area.
It was just easier on everyone involved that way.
He put his hands on his hips and straightened, smiling cheerily. "Well, at least you got an up-close look at the trains. Next time though, let's save it for an inside close up look."
As he got yanked back into the safety zone like a fish being pulled from the water by a rod, he couldn't help but wonder if this is how other felt when he dragged them around or vigorously shook them. He felt sort of dizzy. Did other people get dizzy when he shook them around too? That probably shouldn't be his main train of thought at the moment, but it was hard for him to switch tracks once he'd started down one. At least it was a short track- once it had run its course, he was able to focus on what was arguably way more important.
"Leon-" Emmet started, voice oddly calm for someone who had nearly been issued a ticket to the galactic railroad only few moments prior. He put a hand on the other's shoulder in an attempt to ground him. It often helped Emmet calm down when Ingo or Elesa put a hand on him, so he hoped it would help Leon too. "I am Emmet. I am okay. A-okay." He did a little OK hand sign.
Emmet, at least, would definitely be laughing about this later. In fact, he kind of wanted to laugh about it right now. Almost dying was pretty bad, but the rush of adrenaline from knowing he almost died? That was pretty nice, actually! But he'd keep that to himself for Leon's sake.
"...maaaaaybe I will have you read schedules for me moving forward. If that would make you feel better. Galarians record dates and times sorrrrt of strangely anyway." Which was probably why he'd gotten mixed up about the schedule in the first place, but he wasn't going to admit that out right- way too embarrassing.

"Oh! Yeah, that'd be great!" His Rotom would probably be grateful for the directions, instead of having to deal with Leon's distracted description of the place (he definitely didn't catch the name of it so it would have been even harder on the poor thing). Leon put his hands on his hips, taking a deep breath and holding it for a moment.
It had been quite some time since he'd been in the Wild Area for something other than a quick escape from his responsibilities, but he usually had his Charizard with him.
It felt a little weird being without his Pokemon.
Kind of uncomfortable. But he'd actively made the choice to leave them behind and he wasn't about to back down from it now.
"I'm just fine! Don't worry about me at all, I'm just glad to be out and about for once!" Leon added, shoulders falling and smile relaxing into a more natural one than his big and broad showman's smile. "So... what are we looking for exactly? A specific type of Pokemon?"
The rocker noticed the way that Leon had taken the dishes up and tidied up the table a bit and was relieved by it. The diner was understaffed and that would certainly help them in the long run. Then he sees Leon hurrying to keep up with him and he couldn't help the small smile that forms on his face. It was cute how excited the former champion was.
"Good t'hear Lee," Piers kept that smile on his face before letting it settle back into his default neutral expression once they were outside and back in public. It might appear that this was just his default expression in public. Something he would do to keep others at bay.
It was his first line of defense against those that would come to give him grief.
Piers was careful to make sure he wouldn't accidentally leave the other man behind as he leads the way to the Wild Area entrance. He does soften his gaze to Leon when he mentions how good the food was, "yeh, I've never had a complaint when I go there. Glad that you enjoyed it too. We can always go again next time we're in the area. Plus I can give ya the address so you find find it via GPS if ya want?"
He did give a brief little smile to him to show he was happy to do so before letting it fall back to his default expression once more. He kept leading the way until they get to the Wild Area and he stretches a bit, cracking his spine a little in the process from his bad posture. He also eases out of his perfected expression to something more natural.
"Alright, now we just have to find the right grassy area. Ya still doin' good Lee?"

Leon had a rare day off from Champion business for the first time in a long, long while and he was ready to totally blend in and avoid being recognized. Especially with the Gym Season approaching, his workload was really starting to pick up. Unfortunately. He may or may not have had to practically beg for a brief reprieve, but what was a little grovelling if it meant getting a proper break from, well, everything.
Thank Arceus Rose had other things to deal with.
He had just finished off a piping hot beef pasty from his favorite little street vendor when he heard a familiar voice calling his name. He looked around for a moment, mouth full of meat pie, then spotted Marnie.
It really wasn't often he ran into her out and about!
He swallowed the last bite of his pie and chased it with a gulp of water. "Marnie! Hey!" Leon called back now that his mouth wasn't full, glancing both ways before darting across the street to meet her. He grinned brightly, adjusting his baseball cap to keep the sun out of his own eyes.
"Long time no see! Feels like it's been forever since I saw you out and about. How have you been?"
@indomiinus liked for a starter!
It wasn't every day she ran into Leon! But seems like he hadn't seen her yet. Marnie waves, trying to get the other's attention. "Hey! Over here!" She eventually calls out, umbrella in one hand to shield her from the sun.
'It's me!"

Leon laughed heartily at the offer for poffins to the picker eaters of her team - he wasn't about to assume the offer was being extending to his own picky eater. The Charizard was quite used to homemade meals of raw meat and bone and offal as were the other meat-eaters in his team, but he could deal with soup or stew, whichever it ended up being.
There really wasn't much of a difference anyway. One just had a roux essentially.
Setting the deep curry pot onto the iron support that kept it suspended over the fire, Leon nodded in understanding. "Soup or stew it is then. It'll be a surprise for both of us which it ends up being."
He shifted to sit on his knees so he could see over the edge of the pan properly.
"I have a lot of dried meat and vegetables, and some wild vegetables we've found on the way, but if you have any…" He hummed a bit as he pulled out the box he kept berries stored in. They were looking pretty sparse, but he had a couple he could add. The rest should probably be eaten or pitched soon though. "cheri or passho berries, I think those'll go well."
Charizard huffed again, and Leon chuckled lightly.
"Don't worry, I'll add a couple petaya berries to your portion." He soothed, grinning at the look of acceptance that crossed his pokemon's face. "You're lucky we have any left at this rate." Leon shook his head, turning back to the pan and reaching a hand into it. Fingers splayed, he let his palm hover an inch or two above the bottom, testing the heat.
Satisfied, he dropped in a solid cooking fat into the pot. While it melted, he set to work on cutting up the fresh root vegetables they'd foraged up on their travels, and the last two kelpsey berries he had.
"Oh, if you want some tea, just ask. I think it ought to be done steeping by now actually..." He nodded to his thermos next to him.
@indomiinus || Continued from X
It is a nice change of pace, for both herself and the rest of her pokemon to not be solitary travellers setting up camp for the night in some remote part of Kalos. Even more so, when whoever they meet with just so happens to both have under their belt years of experience and not fuss over titles or recognition of a figure in the public's eye. For this reason, she has no qualms in joining him by the fire— in leaving preparation of food up to him when the offer was made, in lieu of gentle insistence that she should, just to be safe.
Shoulders lowered, arms loosely embracing a certain Vivillon who had been quick to demand as much the moment she settled on the ground, the light teasing brings forth a short laugh. Oh, Serena has seen that look before. On her own Delphox, when the heroine has had to explain to the fire-type when indoors that keeping that stick alight would set off every alarm in the vicinity.
"Oh dear... But either stew or curry would be lovely, thank you. Whichever you have the ingredients for. All I can really contribute are berries,"
She says, and in the back of her mind, Serena wishes that she had taken the time to stock up on more food than what was needed. Yet they should have been back home tonight, and plans clearly have changed.
"My pokemon are not really picky eaters when away from home... But Oleander, my Dragalge, needs to liquify food before he can eat it. So, either of those I think is a happy middle ground."
In truth, it is quite an easy undertaking. A ghost-type who does not need to eat. Two pokemon who could, if they turned up their noses to whatever is on offer, absorb energy from the sun. The rest, picky in their own rights, spoiled by homemade meals and ones specific to their needs, but willing to set it all aside when away from such luxuries. But that does not need to be said, and so it stays in the back of the champion's mind. Instead, she offers a shrug of her shoulders, amicable smile brightening just a tad.
"Worst comes to worst, I do have some poffins left for the poor souls who, um... have very refined, particular and specific tastes, let's say."

In the time that Piers went to pay, Leon had taken the dishes up to the marked off drop off area. After, of course, making sure he had cleaned up his side of the table since he'd made a tiny bit of a mess while eating.
He glanced over when he caught sight of Piers's gesture, and hurried after him like a Yamper after his trainer. With as bright eyed and broad his grin was, it really was a fairly accurate description of the energy rolling off of him.
Bit by bit, Leon was trying very hard not to realize just how isolated he'd been from everyone. He just hoped that Piers didn't get too overwhelmed by him because of it. He'd have to try to reel in his energy and enthusiasm just a bit. He told himself that, but... he probably wouldn't even notice to reel it in.
"Yup! Ready to go!" Leon responded with far more enthusiasm than he probably had any right to. "Lead the way!"
So much for controlling himself.
He stuck close to Piers, not wanting to get separated and lost. Luckily, the roads were starting to empty, so it wasn't hard, and as long as he kept Piers's back in view, he would be fine. The other was practically a beacon with his hair being as long as it was.
"Ah... man, that place's food was really good... I should stop by there more." Like he'd be able to find it on his own. He hadn't even thought to get his Rotom to record the location so he could use that to get him there. It was just going to have to be a place he and Piers visited.
That wasn't a bad thing though.
Like Leon, Piers felt a bit out of place and odd being the one to offer his protection to the former champion of all people but at the same time, it felt natural. After all, the rocker had basically done all he could to protect his sister and town during Rose's reign as chairman. He took all the abuse and backlash himself and nearly killed himself to keep his town afloat during those rough years. At least it was better now.
Plus it felt right in a way to try and protect the other man given all he must of dealt with being so close to Rose. Give him a break from being the responsible one for once.
Piers listened to Leon's statement and smiled again, very aware that this was a rarity for him. After all, the dark trainer so very rarely smiled in public unless his sister was nearby. Even then, he'd be hard pressed to act like this if cameras or the press was involved.
"Thanks, ya won't regret it Lee."
As he packed up his meal he was glad that the other was being patient. Once done he nodded over to the register and went to pay for the meals, finding he could do these days. After paying he grabbed his box and gestured for Leon to follow him out. "Right then, shall we take a jaunt to the Wild Area?"
Boy was he glad that it was evening so that way the heat and sun wouldn't be against him. After all, he so very rarely got a lot of sunshine in his daily life.

Leon had been worried - more than just a little worried for that matter - when Emmet hopped onto the tracks like the mad man that he was. But he blindly put faith on Emmet that, yes, of course he read the schedule right!
Apparently he should stop having too much faith in that though, as he and Emmet both had the scare of their lives as the train barreled down the tracks just seconds after Emmet had finished his inspection and got back onto the platform. Leon almost couldn't hear the train over the pounding of his heart as he froze.
It was as if he were terrified that if he moved Emmet would get turned into a TV special about the dangers of playing on the tracks.
The second the train had passed though, and Emmet admitted his failure to read the schedule properly, Leon finally found the will to move - and speak.
"Ohmygod, Emmet! Come here, come here!"
Leon swiftly grabbed Emmet by the arms, pulling him back behind the yellow line to safety.
"Are you okay? Deep breaths, just take slow deep breaths!" Was Leon giving Emmet instructions or himself instructions? Hell if he knew! "You are so lucky, please never ever do that again, you almost gave me a heart attack!" His words were really more like a plea than anything else. "You're okay, right? You didn't get clipped or anything, did you?"
Later, they'd probably laugh about this.
Probably.

How the woman wasn't in pain or a mangled wreck, Leon and the onlookers really had no idea. Shock, perhaps. Adrenaline was a hell of a pain killer from Leon's experience, and he'd gone quite a while before realizing he was seriously injured before, so he was more than a little worried that it was a similar situation for her.
When she sat up, he was careful to assist her, not wanting to hurt her further by fighting her on it.
She was alive, and sounded a bit more coherent at least.
"Safine Drakos..." He muttered the name under his breath a couple times to commit it to memory just in case he needed to pass the information on to paramedics. Though, he probably didn't need to worry too much about it since the Ribombee's pollen seemed to have helped with her pain and injuries at least minutely.
At her question though, he paused his mumbling, blinking owlishly at her for a moment.
"Uh... well... er, sore is better than 'severe agony everywhere'."
Leon looked down the street that the car had disappeared down, grimacing a bit. He hoped someone at least got a photo of the car's plates so the authorities had something to go off of. Shaking his head, he sighed, finally taking his hands off her back and shoulder now that she seemed stable. He sat back on his heels.
"A car hit you pretty hard..." He looked back at the point where he'd seen the car stopped at, then moved his hand to point at where Safine sat as an indicator as to how far she'd flown. "Sent you flying like a rock being skipped over a pond." He winced; that was probably a really insensitive way to phrase that. "Er, a-anyway, do you feel like anything's broken or out of place? How many fingers am I holding up?"
He held up two fingers in front of her face, worry clear on his features.
The rate at which Safine regained her senses was growing at an exponential rate. One moment she was giggling like a young girl talking to her crush, the next she gave a pained groan that was more fitting of a person in their twenties who had just been bowled over. That last groan was also accompanied by her shaking her head, and after roughly ten seconds of hard blinking her body found the strength again to at the very least sit upright.
"Not... dead? What...?"
One hand was pressed against the ground (and the other would hold on to anything offered) as she pushed herself up, and she took a deep breath. She held it for a brief while before exhaling, slowly, all while carefully looking around and regaining her bearings. Safine was still visibly confused, but at the very least she was no longer on the brink of passing out.
For a person of her standings and physical capabilities, that would have been embarrassing.
"Huh?" came her rather curt reply as she looked Leon in the eye, tilting her head. However, before he could speak, she quickly added, "Oh, uh, Safine... S- Safine Drakos. Nice to meet you."
All things considered, she appeared to be far better off than a vast majority of other people would be in her situation. Anyone else who would have been hit by that car from before, especially when taking into account how fast it was going... No, this was not something worth thinking about.
Safine looked around again, first at the surrounding buildings and then trailing her eyes along the streets, before turning her attention to the crowd that was gathering. Unbeknownst to Leon she always considered herself to be quite the social butterfly, but in this scenario Safine was starting to feel a little uncomfortable. Although, she did crack a small smile when a concerned Ribombee came fluttering from the crowd, offering her a little ball of pollen. She accepted it with a small nod of thanks.
"I... guess a little bit of everything is feeling really sore."
Safine then popped the pollen ball into her mouth, chewing slowly and deliberately before swallowing. Already she could feel the pain melting away; though a foreigner, she had heard much about the healing properties of Ribombee pollen, likening it to similar healing critters that call Venalos home.
All that aside, she established eye-contact with Leon again, a hand moving to rub the back of her neck.
"What happened? I remember taking a walk, and then..."

[SURPRISE] Senders pokemon tackles Receiver, wanting to play LORD BABY BE UPON YE. FOUR FOOT TALL OSHAWOTT.
pokemon prompts // ACCEPTING
He really should have expected to get tackled, especially while he was playing a mock capture the flag with his Cinderace, with a ball as the makeshift flag. Though, in Leon's defense, he wasn't really expecting an outsider Pokemon to want to join in on their game.
"Oof!"
Leon was a sturdy guy, but there really wasn't any human sturdy enough to handle a four foot tall Oshawott tackling them, no matter the height or weight difference. Especially with the element of surprise. It was a "no contest" situation and all Leon could do was laugh as he was tackled to the ground.
Luckily, he was pretty used to being knocked off his feet, and managed to break his fall so he wasn't left stunned.
"Whoa, where'd you come from-- hey now!"
Cinderace, with the distraction caused by the arrival of Lord Baby, took advantage of the situation and swiped the ball from Leon's grasp.
"Haha! Well, I guess the point's yours this time!" Leon laughed, sitting up on his arm and patting Ree's Oshawott on the head. "You ought to play more fair, especially since someone else wants to join in apparently." He grinned, affectionately petting Lord Baby. "What do you say? Do you and your trainer wanna join in on a game of capture the flag? Well... capture the ball actually, don't have a flag."
Cinderace hummed happily, bouncing the ball on his knee.
