Ang kinalalagyan mo. (State of the world)

Sa mga kinokonsumo ng tao, alin kaya dito ang lagi mong ginagamit? Kuryente? Pagkain? Damit? Cellphone? Internet? Tubig? Fossil Fuels? Paano mo kaya masasabi na naaabuso mo na ang mga paggamit dito? Talaga nga bang ang pagtaas ng population ay napakalaking bagay para mabigyan ng epekto ang mundo?

Mula sa 11th hour ni Leonardo Di Caprio at Story of stuffs, nanditon na naman tayo sa isang bahagi ng mundo natin. Ang state of the world: Transforming Cultures, culture of consumerism. These are all connected with each other, on how we consume the natural resources of the world in different ways and by different means.

The State of the World in 2010 represents that your weight or volume on how you consume your goods/services will depend on where you have been grown up, developed or where you have been “CULTURED.”  It also presents that our world cannot sustain consistently the over consumption of the people around the globe.

Sa aking pananaw, darating na talaga ang panahon na hindi na kaya ng mundo na magagawang isustain ang buhay dito dahil ang tao ay umabuso na at lumagpas na sa borderline ng dapat nitong lugaran. Ang mga di naman dapat na gawin sa mundo ay ginagawa ng tao. Ang pagputol ng puno para gawin bahay, papel, at kung ano- ano pa ay hindi naman napapalitan agad. It takes hundreds of years bago mapalitan ang punong pinutol. Naririnig ko nga rin na, world can heal itself naturally because it is in cycle pero sa panahon ngayon…. MALABO NA!

Kailangan na ng mundo ng tao dahil sa over-consuming nito, tulad ng pangangailangan ng tao sa mundo, dapat two way ang pagtrato dito.

Ang pagkonsumo ng bawat tao sa iba’t ibang mga bagay ay nagkakaroon ng epekto sa mundo, at tinatawag itong carbon footprint. Sa bawat kilos at paggalaw mo, sa bawat paggamit ng carbon-emitting devices and system, nag-eemit ka ng energy o carbon footprint na nagbibigay ng heat sa mundo na ang epekto ay ang pagpapalit palit ng temperature ng mundo. Yan ang katotohanan sa kinokonsumo ng bawat tao, hindi lang basta pagkain, tubig at hangin para mabuhay. May lumabas na articles years ago about sa European Union on Depopulating the world because of unsustainability, kung magpapatuloy pa ang di pag-aalaga sa mundo at kung walang action to sustain life for the human kind, posibleng gawin ito ng mayayamang bansa.

Para sa akin, ang isa sa magandang paraan para masustain muli ang buhay sa mundo ay ang pagiging edukado, simple lang diba? Kung alam mo talaga ang dapat gawin sa paligid, alam mo kung paano aalagaan ito. Parang sa isang relationship, kung mahal mo ang gf/bf mo, alam mo kung ano ang mga pangangailangan nya. Parang sa mundo, kung mahal mo ang mundo, alam mo kung paano ang pakikitungo dito at pano aalagaan ito para maging sustainable ito para sayo at para sa susunod na henerasyon.

The Cautious Rock.

Lithosphere was derived from the word "Lithos" meaning the "Rock" and sphere means circle. It is the the outer section of the earth. It includes the Earth's crust and the upper mantle that extends up to 7000 Kilometers. 

The thickness of the Lithosphere is varied according to the reference point where it will be measured, if the reference is at the mountain then definitely,  it is thicker than the crust.  Lithosphere is believed to have 1000 degrees celcius which allow the pressurized rock material to flow. And I think this is one of the major reason   of earthquakes. It is also called the tectonic plates that is major responsible for continental drift and volcanic activity.

Earthquakes, continental drift is very responsible on the physical appearance of the earth. Every day, PAGASA records different small earthquakes that the scale could read but the human senses cannot materialized. In everyday of our lives we could see the cracks on the grounds on the streets, houses, buildings and many more. This is because what beneath us is continuously moving.  The Philippines believe that it has the longest fault line in Asia. The West Valley Fault line, and it was feared so much that if a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Philippines, The West Valley Fault line will be the first to trigger the energy from the ground and could kill millions of people due to collapsing of buildings, ground breaking, erosion and other effect of this earthquake.

It was also believed that the world before is a one big continent but by the revolution of itself including volcano eruptions and earthquakes, different continents was believed to be formed.

Scientists cannot actually predict when will the earthquake will happen. Unlike the weather forecast, earthquakes can be so lethal without no one knowing what will happen and the only thing that we can do is to prepare ourselves for the worst possible outcome because by the moment you are reading this, the tectonic plates are currently moving and at very instant (without you knowing it), these plates could blow like bombs that could explode in any time and can cause disasters and even death so probably the time bomb is always ticking and that is THE CAUTIOUS ROCK. Wherever and whenever. You just have to prepare yourself. Prepare for the worst and Hope for the best.

Enviro-Libra: A must Fair and Square?

I was born on an October, a sign of Libra. When I was searching what is the meaning of my symbol, I was able to found out that the meaning of it was JUSTICE. 

For the environment-ecology-habitat, the scale sign is not just for JUSTICE but also for BALANCE. In the Philippines, there have been laws and bills passed in the congress so that the environmental protection will be prioritized. As I was researching over the internet the different Environmental Protection Laws. Some would catch my attention on the following: 

P.D. 1152 – Philippine Environmental Policy

      defines the policy objectives and the strategies for the various aspects of environmental management, such as air and water quality management, natural source development, land management, and waste management. It launches a comprehensive national program of environmental protection and management, with reference to policies and standards of noise, air quality, water quality, classification of water and waste management.

There are questions in my mind like:  "May Presidential Decree pala na ganito pero bakit ang waste management and water quality management ng maraming ilog sa Metro Manila di maayos-ayos?" Air Quality Management? Eh bakit kapag umakyat ka ng Antipolo at tinignan mo ang taas ng Metro Manila, makikita mo ang black-like covering sa ibabaw ng MM na makikita mo ang Pollution?

And then, follow-up questions are coming into my mind: "Nakakahinga pa ba ang Manila? Parang pag nandun ako sa itaas parang masusuffocate ako." "Bakit ang daming sasakyan na ang itim ng usok? Bakit may mga bahay na derecho ang pozo negro sa drainages? Bakit di mapaalis ang mga nakatira sa tabi ng mga ilog dahil sila mismo ang mga kauna-unahang nagpopollute ng water resources natin?" "Saan nga ba may mali? Sa Gobyerno? O sa mga simpleng mamamayan nito?"

PD 330 and PD 953: Law on Illegal Cutting of Trees "Bakit kapag malakas ang ulan sa mga kabundukan, bigla na lang magkakaroon ng flashfloods at makikita na maraming puno ang tinanggal na higit pa sa kailangan?" "Bakit kapag tinignan mo ang Antipolo ngayon pag galing sa Pasig o Mandaluyong, makikita mo na maraming area na ang brown kaysa sa green? dahil sa mga real estate na naglipana di ba nila naconsider ang mga dapat na kailangan ng tao at ng kalikasan?" "Pera na lang ba ang dahilan kaya may mga ganito?"

Sabi nga ng Asin sa kanila ng kantang "MASDAN MO ANG KAPALIGIRAN"

Mga pre, nagdedemand ang kalikasan ng kaunting hustisya. Para din 

naman sa ikabubuti natin ang mga ito at para sa mga susunod pang 

mga henerasyon:

mga batang ngayon lang isinilang may hangin pa kayang matitikman? may mga puno pa kaya silang aakyatin may mga ilog pa kayang lalanguyan?

Our nature has been struggling for herself to recover from the human 

activities that is destroying her system. Well, everyone do its recovery 

when he is in down trodden situation. And the justice and balance of 

our environment must be given before the nature give its own justice to 

us people to have its own balance.

Water AND Frequency AND Time

Noong mga bata pa tayo, simpleng simple lang ang pagkakaintindi natin sa "water cycle." May evaporation, may condensation at may precipitation. Yan lang ang tatlong stage ng water cycle na basic sa isipan. Pero habang tayo ay tumatanda, mas nagiging malawak ang mga bagay-bagay at tanggapin natin na mas nagiging kumplikado. 

As we grow older, we learn the different ways of understanding the water  cycles. It is not just the only three basic words of evaporation, condensation and precipitation. Add some words of transpiration and sublimation.

And as we grow older, we will learn the different complexities of the water cycle:

We are all aware that acid rain happens when there are so much pollution at the atmosphere when raining. But in my point of view, it also a factor of evaporating the polluted waters in the river and the ocean.

Every summer we could feel that the temperature is rising over and over again. And that is because of abnormality in the water cycle in the whole world.  Kapag sobrang init ang tinatamasa natin kapag summer, asahan nyo na na magkakaroon ng matinding pag-ulan pagdating ng wet season. Sa tingin ko, ito ang paraan ng ating mundo upang bawiin at ibalance ang mga nawala sa kanya.

One more thing that could add to worsen the ecology is by building  dams. Indeed, dams could be very useful but it could affect the temperature. Many microbiotic organisms depend on the temperature every year, by building dams we could give these species a lesser lifespan because their "lifestyle" will be compromised.

  During the destruction of Habagat in the Philippines, the NDRRMC told that we should be the ones adapting the Nature's payback because it will be natural in the next few years.

But there is always room for improvement because the only way that this will be halted is to plant more trees because trees are the clothing line of our planet. It will cool the earth's crust and atmosphere to allow it to breathe thoroughly. In every planted tree, 4 people could breathe.

Manggagamit! (The story of stuff)

Did you ever went to Divisoria? or Shangri-La Mall? SM Supermarket or Market! Market! Have you crossed to a certain thing that you would really wanted to buy even though not needing it? Does the price of P0.99 added up to your desire to buy a new clothing? A new pair of shoes? Or even gadgets? Or just for simply designs for your home? When I was in high school, our economics teacher would always told us "Tayong mga Pilipino, mahilig bumili ng kung ano-ano? Basta mura bibilhin natin yan kahit di naman natin gagamitin, wala lang kasi mura sayang naman. Minsan nga napadaan ako sa Divisoria, napatingin lang ako sa ipit at sa perdible, 10 pesos na, binili ko na pero di ko naman talaga gagamitin." Another teacher of mine in IT class while discussing the e-commerce. "Maraming Pilipino ang mas gustong bilhin yung mga may 9 sa dulo, example P49.99, P99, P39, P349. Mas nakakaattract kasi ng buyer ang mga ganitong strategies." And this I wonder why? Why? Why people would definitely buy things that they wouldn't be using. Why people are attracted with the number 9 on the pricetags? And these bring to the background of capitalism, media and its influence. Siguro nakakattract bumili kung ganito ang strategy ng producer, media at capitalists.

Baka sakaling marami ngang bumili. Kasi tignan mo nga naman, latest gadgets ang nasa cover at may girl pa. Pang-akit sa material na mga bagay.

Pero naisip na ba ng maraming tao kung saan nanggaling at mapupunta kapag natapos na ang useful years ng mga gamit? Naisip nga ba nila kung ano nag magiging result ng bawat gamit kung maglalapse na ang pagiging useful ng ibang bagay? Kung ako ang tatanungin, bumibili ako ng bagay base sa pangangailangan ko, kahit na ano pang iharap mo sa akin na mga pangendorse kung hindi ko naman kailangan, di ko talaga kukunin. Pero may mga taong sadyang bumibili talaga sila dahil gusto nila dahil siguro happiness must be priceless kaya naman binibili lang nila magpapasaya sa kanila? At pagkatapos nito? Saan na mapupunta?

Ang lahat ng gamit na nabibili natin ay pwedeng tawaging carcinogen. Oo, lahat ng yan di man ikaw ang tamaan ng cancer pero sa oras na tinapon mo yan sa dumpsite/landfill, cancer na yan sa paligid. Lahat ng gamit na nabibili natin ay produkto na nanggaling sa kalikasan. Diba ang mga gamit kung saan kinuha dapat ibalik kung saan kinuhaan? TAMA! If it is from the nature, then give it back to nature but in the form of trashes. Yun lang, ang laking pagkakaiba, nung kinuha mo, nakatulong sayo pero nung binalik mo na sa kalikasan, naging sagabal pa, anong tawag dun? MANGGAGAMIT! Napakarami nang basura sa paligid, wag na sanang dagdagan. Ang mga ginamit mo na, sana pangalagaan at mapatagal pa. Sabi nga nila. Kapag bibili ka ng gamit, mas mahal ang bilhin mo para definitely, mamahalin mo. Kasi pag mura, mapapamura ka din talaga at saan ang bagsak? Sa Basurahan. Wag kang maging basta manggagamit.

Marami ka na nga bang nalalaman? Talaga nga bang masasabi mo sa sarili mo na isa kang edukadong tao? Natanong mo na ba sa sarili mo na talagang malinaw na sayo ang lahat ng pinag-aralan mo? O may isa ka pang hindi talaga nalalaman sa paligid mo na patuloy mo lang na di napapansin o nakakaligtaan?

I didn't ask those question for your intelligence technically on whatever profession you are into. According to Stephen Hawking, "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge." Enemy of knowledge? Ayun, sapul. Ibig sabihin, NAGMAMARUNONG. NAGPAPANGGAP, pwede na rin siguro WALANG PAKIALAM? o WALA TALAGANG ALAM. Akala mo mataas na ang naabot? Maraming pera na naiuuwi? Magagarang sasakyan? Matataas na bahay? Mataas na position? Maimpluwensyang pagkatao? Pulitiko? Negosyante? Studyante?   Saan mo dadalhin yang mga yan kung ang isa sa pinakasimpleng bagay sa mundo para mabuhay ay di mo alam? And let me call it. TIMEBOMB.

We are on the last hours of our lifespan. Due to man's exclaiming "intelligence." We are now facing a huge dilemma, the choice of being with the harmony of the nature or the choice of practicality (side of human being) In my opinion, this generation will be able to accept the challenge of being with the harmony of the nature WITH DIFFICULTY  because of the choice of practicality - the culture where everyone is very comfortable with. Madalas, mahirap na umalis sa iyong comfort zone, kung saan ka pinaka-nag-eenjoy. Sino pa nga ba ang gustong umalis sa sarap? Tama ba? Yan tayo ngayon, sino ang maglalakad sa ilalim ng sikat ng araw kung pwede naman sumakay sa jeep? Sino ang magpapapalit ng oil ng sasakyan kung pwede pa naman gamitin at hanggang sa hindi nahuhuli ng authority dahil sa smoke belching? Sino nga ba ang titiisin na nasa bulsa muna ang kalat kung pwede itapon ang basura sa kalye? Ang pagtatapon ng dumi sa mga ilog ng mga nasa tabi nito kung wala silang ibang mapupuntahan? Paggamit ng kuryente kung di naman kailangan? Paglalagay ng CR straight sa public drainage? Factories emitting harmful reactants for production of goods and making money? Machines  oil-dependent? Lahat to, at marami pang iba ay kasama sa COMFORT ZONES, na hindi natin naconsider sa araw-araw o kahit dati pa. Di ba ang dali lang ng buhay mo kapag walang sagabal sa buhay mo at nakukuha mo ang lahat (services, money, etc.) but did you ever realized what is really basic and important?

THE NATURE. The basic and most important that we almost forget when we live day by day. Nasaan kaya ang tunay nating galing at talino kung itong basic at importanteng ito ay di natin nabibigyang pansin. Talaga nga bang magaling ang tao? O nagmamarunong ang tao na maging independent na mabuhay para sa sarili without considering the factors of his surroundings. Napadaan ako sa isang business district, I was so amazed. Business attires, nice dresses, good posture, nice cars. Ooops teka, sigarilyo hit-hit dito, hit-hit doon. Sigiralyo kahit saan. I am aware that this is one of their stress reliever. Does their knowledge gave them stress? but wait, they didn't know that they are emitting so much carbon dioxide.  Once is enough, twice is too much, thrice kaadikan mo na yun. (Cigaretter sticks) Yun, nalaman ba nila? Nature's time now is ticking to its last hour and breathe. Definitely, there would come a time that our earth will be on its extinction, but as the we live right now, we are making the extinction of the earth faster. Did anyone wonder why storms, rains, winds and sun's heat are very abnormal? It is because of what the human was made in the past, the damage to the ecosystem (of both educated "technically" and non-educated people), the nature is giving its payback and as the nature's time is ticking, it is giving what is due to the humans.

The artificial intelligence of machines, industrial revolution and computers have been widely used all over the world and it surpassed the ability of human to work, we may think that this artificial intelligence has been abused because of what had been happening to the world......
