Wow, turns out Ford won the Megatron VS Stanford poll by default. That was truly an epic battle, too bad it came to that. No shade to the Megatron side, Transformers is a respectable fandom with tons of content and I'm sure they had fun too, but I wanted to give my two cents here about some... complaints I saw circulating among Megatron fans.

While the alleged use of bots is unfortunate, I'm seeing some people saying that it's some sort of conspiracy by the GF fans (they must be the ones that used bots to discredit Megatron's vote and they're also finding it suspicious that we jumped so fast on the bot theory). Or that we also used bots to counter-attack.

Fair, people may have used alt accounts on both sides, that's usually the case in these polls (we know it's true even if no one would ever admit it), but it's not to the point that thousands of votes land on one side in a very short amount of time. Even the GF side had to earn it for the whole duration of the poll.

I don't think people realize how massive the GF fandom is especially since the publication of The Book of Bill. I've seen at least 2 posts on Tumblr with 5k and 4k notes respectively, and I didn't even actively search for every bit of propaganda that exists, inside or outside Tumblr. I did my part too and though I'm not that popular, I think my writing is decent enough to at least appeal to a few potential voters?

More importantly, I wouldn't really believe in the use of bots if I hadn't been a witness myself. The alleged second attack of bots happened during the night for those living in the United States I think, but I live in Europe and when it happened here, it was noon. I was taking my lunch and to pass time, I went to the poll to read the notes (yes, I'm obsessed by this silly poll), and that's when I saw the numbers change so drastically in only a few minutes. It was monday at noon (elsewhere, it would have been sunday night or monday afternoon). Not a time to vote at this scale. It was a pure coincidence, but once I noticed the spike in numbers I refreshed every minute and every minute, more than a dozen votes were added to Megatron's counter. I couldn't screenshot the numbers, but I know others did and that's why the mod decided to disqualify Megatron.

I wouldn't have minded to lose against such a well-loved icon of fandom, but I have to confess that this level of blatant fraud made me mad. I wouldn't have been bummed if we had lost anyway. I'm happy Ford passed, but it feels like a loss to me because the poll wasn't fair to begin with.
