On any other day, Caroline would feel utterly delighted to hear Stiles say that he wanted her and not Lydia. But since he was dating the other woman and not her, it only made her feel worse because this was someone that they both cared about a great deal. And now Stiles was only making it worse by saying that he wanted to kiss her again, that he wanted this. Of course she wanted that, of course she wanted to feel him close to her again and be with him in that way. But the blonde couldnt shake the feeling that this shouldn’t have happened the way that it did. God, why did he have to show up in Milan like that? Why did it have to happen like this and why now? Since Caroline was a vampire, she felt every emotion so much more intensely, so betraying Lydia made her feel completely awful. She didn’t deserve to have the redhead in her life, let alone as her best friend. “You already know the answer to that.”
The air surrounding the pair almost felt thick to Stiles, as if he was struggling to breathe; chest constricting from the uncomfortable thoughts. He could see on her face that she was feeling just as guilty as he was. The brunette took a small step away from his best friend, creating more space between them. “I know. I... Maybe I shouldn’t have come over.” Patting the bag of snacks he brought, he held an arm out to his friend, “You just.. You can keep the snacks.” Stiles had wanted to spend time with Caroline but it was clear that both of them were still reeling from the intimate kiss they’d shared. Nodding his head again, his brown eyes linked to Caroline’s azure hues. “I’m sorry.” His apology was weak, a shakiness to it, tone low but filled with such emotion. Finally tearing his gaze away from the vampire, Stiles took it upon himself to dig his keys out of his pocket and exit her home. The only way he felt they’d get back on track to being friends was if Lydia knew the truth. However, he had too much of a heart to break the banshee’s. Why was everything so confusing? And why didn’t they get their shot together until he was with Caroline’s best friend? Running a hand down his face after he’d hopped into the Jeep, Stiles gave one last glance to Caroline’s home and drove off.
END.

”We just… have awful timing.” Caroline commented quietly, almost too scared to say the words, but they somehow made it through her lips anyway. As Stiles held out his hand to her, she was hesitant, not sure if she should move towards him because all she could think about right now was Lydia. The redhead would feel so betrayed and hurt if she found out about this situation, though the blonde couldn’t help that she wanted to be with Stiles. She just despised the fact that it took her this long to realize that she had feelings for her best friend, right when he’d started dating someone else - someone she loved very dearly. “Come on, Stiles. You know what I mean. We kissed. We told each other about our feelings and acted on them. It’s not just words anymore or us burying our feelings and not telling each other about them for the sake of your relationship or our friendship.” she mumbled and yes, she knew that they owed it to themselves to figure all of this out and to explore what they could be, but that didn’t mean that he had a girlfriend who wasn’t Caroline. “We can’t go back, it’s too late.”
Could they have ever had a good timing? Stiles chewed over the thought for a moment, just allowing Caroline to speak and express what she needed to say. His eyes darted down to her lips, then back to her eyes. He should’ve felt guilty, he already had an established relationship with Lydia. Even though he cared for the banshee a great deal, he knew in his heart that Caroline could never be replaced by another woman. It just wasn’t that easy. “I mean, yeah, you’re right. We kissed and told each other about our feelings. I never expected how I felt to be reciprocated, Care. I-- I didn’t know.” Had there been hints of her feelings over the years? Stiles tried to reach into the depths of his mind and figure out how he could’ve missed it. Sucking in a large breath, Stiles held it for a moment before exhaling, chest deflating a fraction. “And no, we can’t go back. But I, I want this with you. I want you.” Pausing, his lower lip quivered lightly. “I’ve always wanted you. Maybe I was just too blind to see that someone as incredible as you could fall for someone like me.” In high school, Stiles was never the guy that every girl chose. He wasn’t the hot jock like Jackson, he wasn’t the puppy like Scott. He was weird and awkward and more than slightly spazzy. And somehow, he’d managed to miss any type of gesture that showed Caroline wanted to be more than just friends with him. “And since it’s already too late to undo what’s been done.. Does it make me a horrible person to want to kiss you again?” The last of his words fell softer, a hint of guilt behind them. Whiskey hues glittered with a sadness behind them, but also with curiosity. Even though guilt trickled in his veins, Stiles was also confident in what he wanted. It didn’t make it easier, knowing he was betraying the redhead, but his mind was consumed by his feelings for the blonde vampire.

”No. You can’t tell her.” Caroline felt her eyes widen on cue as Stiles told her that if she wanted him to admit everything to Lydia, he would. If she still had a beating heart, it would be going a million miles an hour right about now. As much as the blonde valued honesty and as much as she knew that they should tell the redhead, she didn’t want Lydia to know about any of this. At least, not yet. It was too soon, too new, she hadn’t explored and experimented within this relationship yet and Caroline wanted to do that before they told other people about their feelings. Sneaking around was wrong and it wasn’t the ideal way to start a romantic relationship with Stiles. Though it seemed like there was no way out and either way, Caroline was stuck and people would get hurt no matter what decision she’d make regarding this. The blood bag was soon empty because she was stress eating at this point - she either did that or stress cleaning. Caroline tossed the plastic object into the bin and released another deep breath, avoiding Stiles’ gaze. They got themselves into this mess and telling other people would get them into it along with Caroline and Stiles. “I don’t know what I want you to do, okay? I don’t have any answers and there’s no magical solution to any of this. Just– There’s no way out anymore, we got in too deep.”
The immediate response to Stiles being told not to tell Lydia took him by surprise. He knew Caroline was probably worried about dragging Lydia into their problems, but Stiles also didn’t want to lie. Still, he nodded his head and decided it was for the better, if Caroline thought it was. Never did he think he’d have a romantic relationship with Caroline. The brunette placed one of his hands on his hip and the other one extended between their bodies, Stiles motioning with his hand towards the vampire. “You’re right. There is no magical solution. We kinda did all this to ourselves, right?” But there was no denying the connection the pair shared or how he really felt about his best friend. “What do you mean?” Did she really feel as though they got into this too far? Was it bad that the FBI agent wanted to explore something more with the woman? “What do you mean by too deep?” Stiles wanted to make sure he was on the same page as her. A puzzled look grew on his face, thoughts churning like wildfire setting a forest ablaze. Had they really gone too far? Fingers tapped against his hip before his free hand fell flatly between them. “We’re both going in pretty blind here.” His statement was true because neither of them had been in a situation quite like this one before. “I don’t exactly have a manual on how this is supposed to work. So, we gotta figure this out, Care. We owe it to ourselves at least.” They both needed clear answers.

sunshinexcarebear:
While Stiles spoke, Caroline continued to munch away on the blood bag she was holding, trying to occupy herself with it. She didn’t want to face the reality of what they were doing to Lydia, someone who didn’t deserve to be betrayed by the two people who were supposed to care about her most. It wasn’t the right time to act on their feelings since there was another person involved, so how could the both of them be so selfish? Why couldn’t the blonde simply let her best friends be happy together and fall in love? Why did she have to meddle like this? God, Caroline hated herself for feeling the way that she did and for wanting what she wanted. She’d never told Stiles about any of her own feelings before - how she’d thought about a future with him, one that she didn’t think would ever happen. But back when she was still human, the thoughts of marrying him and even starting a family together did cross her mind. They still did, despite the fact that she was a vampire and couldn’t even get pregnant because her body wasn’t able to nurture a baby. Once he finished speaking, the blonde lowered the blood bag from her mouth, holding it in her hand. “Maybe you just think that because you haven’t tried hard enough with Lydia. We’re being selfish, Stiles. I– Yeah, I want this with you. I want it so bad that it’s only amplifying my neurotic side.” the vampire admitted, a light breath following. This was so confusing that Caroline didn’t know what to do anymore - go all in or end it. “But she’s my best friend… and so are you… and we owe it to her to be better than we have been.”
Awaiting Caroline’s reply, Stiles continued to read her eyes and her expression, though it seemed more difficult than usual. Looking down at his feet, the brunette nodded softly, his lips pulled thinly on his face. “I’ve tried with Lydia, I have.” Stiles rejected the blonde’s words, causing him to go silent once more. Lydia did deserve better than both of them sneaking around behind her back. Stiles cared for Lydia, he did. In fact, he had always put a lot of faith in her before they decided to try their hand at dating. Caroline’s honesty struck him like a lightning bolt, until she mentioned that she wanted this so bad; bad enough to feel neurotic about it. Her light breath hadn’t gone unnoticed to Stiles. The male was always scanning people, trying to decipher the way they thought, the way they worked, picking up signs and body language most people ignored. Or, maybe he was hyper alert due to his ADHD. Finally, his eyes flickered upwards from the floor, connecting with Caroline’s azure hues. “You’re right.” His voice was small, brows scrunching slightly. “I’m not saying you’re wrong. Lydia deserves better than someone like me. Someone who isn’t as invested in the relationship as she is.” Leaking those details to Caroline felt wrong, as if he had betrayed Lydia once more, without kissing the blonde vampire. “And you’re my best friend too. Maybe I am being selfish, maybe we’re both being selfish.” Pausing, he hesitated a moment, blinking a few times, face still scrunched. “But you can’t tell me that it doesn’t feel right to be with each other.” They had always had a lot of chemistry growing up, but the romantic feelings Stiles had for Caroline hadn’t happened until high school hit. And after she turned, they still had chemistry but Stiles figured that his chance at being involved with Caroline were long gone, knowing Caroline worried about hurting her friends. He could see that she kept herself at a distance at times, stubborn just as much as he was. But Stiles knew how to break down her walls to some extent and he very much wanted to explore their romantic connection more. “Just tell me what to do, Care. I’ll do it. Even if it means talking to Lydia and being honest with her.”

sunshinexcarebear:
Caroline had spent the entire day feeling bad about what she’d done to her best friend. Lydia had always been good to her and now she was doing this to the redhead? The blonde had always been someone who aimed to do the right thing, to make people happy and cheer them up whenever they needed it, but this? This was so out of character for her and it amazed Caroline that she was able to go through with such a thing. Still, her heart knew what it wanted, it was screaming at her to finally take that chance and be with Stiles, no matter how wrong it was and how much it would hurt Lydia in the process. She already heard Stiles approaching before he entered her home due to her enhanced hearing, anticipating his arrival and taking a shaky breath before he got to where she was. Turning her head to her best friend once he appeared, Caroline had just taken a blood bag from the fridge, holding it up to her mouth so she could suck the liquid into her mouth. At his comment, she simply nodded in a solemn manner, figuring that since he was the one who had initiated this encounter, he’d have something to say and be the one to kick the conversation off.
After pouring the glass of water, Stiles took a gradual sip of the cool substance, hoping it would ease his nerves. Right. I came over for a reason. Might as well let her know what we should be discussing. Clearing his throat, Stiles set the water down on the counter, eyes flicking over to Caroline as she sipped on her blood bag. “So, uh, I know I shouldn’t be doing things like kissing you in the backroom while you’re working. And I, uh,” Stiles’ hands clasped together before he nervously pressed them together and then opened them once more, index fingers pressing together before pointing at the vampire. “I know I’m with Lydia. I know what I’m doing-- what we’re doing is wrong.” The entire time he spoke, his eyes remained connected with her blue hues. “I mean, I know Lydia deserves better than this, better than me.” His head was spinning with ideas and desires to kiss his best friend once again. He steeled himself, shutting his eyes briefly before they popped open again, brows raising on Stiles’ face. It was wrong to cheat on his girlfriend but with Caroline, there was something more there. Something that Stiles wanted to explore and he felt selfish about it. Yet, he couldn’t tear himself away or force himself to leave. “I never thought that you and I could possibly be something. I wanted that something for so long... And now isn’t the right time to act on it, you know? But I also know what I want and as difficult as it may seem, you and I have something that Lydia and I don’t.” Pausing, he was eyeing her more seriously now, hoping every word he said would sink into Caroline’s thoughts. Pressing his lips thinly, he was about to admit something that probably was also wrong. Stiles knew the kiss they shared earlier had more passion, more desire behind the kiss than anything he’d ever felt in his entire life. “Earlier when I kissed you, I felt this intense feeling. Like some kind of fire was going through me. And-- And that’s something I don’t have with Lydia. There’s no passion there. There’s no... there’s no real feeling. It’s just there.” Eyes widened a fraction before he continued, “But you and I have always had this connection, this feeling. And when you kissed me back, it felt like my entire world was whole somehow.” He hoped his rambling made any ounce of sense.

Stiles should’ve felt terrible, should’ve felt regret because of his betrayal to Lydia. The banshee didn’t deserve to be cheated on or for her boyfriend to have feelings for her best friend. He was well aware of the girls growing up together and the bond they shared together. Whenever Caroline wasn’t with him or whenever he hung out with Scott, Caroline and Lydia remained glued to each other’s hip. Still, Stiles’ heart was still bursting with excitement as he came to a halt at Caroline’s front door. Picking up the key from under the potted plant by the door, the brunette unlocked the door and allowed himself entry. It wasn’t unusual for him to do that because Caroline’s home was like a second home to Stiles. Cracking open the front door, the FBI agent carefully strolled in, brown grocery bag in his other arm. Shutting the door with a soft click, Stiles made himself known, though he was sure Caroline heard him long before he opened that front door. “Care? I figured we could talk some more about what happened earlier.” Entering the kitchen, Stiles placed the bag of goodies on the counter, making himself busy by searching for a glass and filling it up with water. His anxiety had been through the roof and he’d been unable to really stand still without occupying himself with mundane tasks.

sunshinexcarebear:
As much as she wanted this and for the entire world to know that she and Stiles were together, Caroline knew that they couldn’t do that. At least, for now. They needed to keep their relationship a secret until they’d figure everything out. It was so confusing at the moment, yet at the same time, it felt amazing and right. Was that even possible? For it to feel so right while knowing that it was wrong because Stiles had a girlfriend? And said girlfriend just happened to be her best friend? The longer she thought about it, the more confusing it would feel, so the blonde tried to push it away, out of her mind. Caroline bit her lower lip as Stiles took a step back from her and as if on cue, one of her employees came strolling into the back to ask her a question. Spotting Stiles, the other woman smiled at him and gave a brief nodl. Caroline had already long forgotten about the fact that she was in her clothing store - here to work, not fool around with her best friend. “I’ll, um… I’ll see you soon then.”
END.

sunshinexcarebear:
She softly moaned into his mouth, parting her lips as she felt his tongue swiping across her bottom lip. If any of her employees caught her with Stiles here in the back, then they’d be busted. The girls that worked for Caroline knew enough about her life to know that Lydia was her best friend - the redhead frequently visited the store to come and hang out with the blonde. If they knew about their boss sneaking around with her best friend’s boyfriend, that’d be the end of it. Caroline knew that they should stop, that they couldn’t do this here, but the vampire was stubborn enough to let herself get lost in this passionate kiss she was sharing with Stiles for a few moments longer. Reluctantly, she pulled away and gazed up at him with an affectionate stare, her blue eyes meeting his brown ones. “We can’t do this here. The girls… I don’t want them to know about us. They know Lydia, they’ve seen her plenty of times and they know she’s like a sister to me. I just want this to be between us for now. I don’t want anyone to know about what we’re doing and yeah, I know that’s wrong and I know I’m being selfish, but…” Caroline paused and let out a small breath, trying to collect herself before continuing gently. “I really want this with you.”
Stiles’ lips continued to collide softly against Caroline’s. Once they parted, his eyes remained clasped shut, relishing in the moment the pair had just shared. While his heart ticked a few beats quicker, his whiskey orbs only opened when her voice sounded, pulling Stiles out of a blissful oblivion and back to reality. Nodding a fraction, Stiles’ hands slid off the vampire’s body and fell limply at his sides once more. The mention of Lydia and the probability of getting caught for some reason spurred more excitement into the male. Yeah, it was horribly wrong what they were doing; what he was doing. Exhaling a gentle breath, it escaped his parted lips. He felt frozen the moment Caroline admitted she wanted this with him. It was hard to wrap his head around because he had been so certain that Caroline had only seen him as a friend, not a romantic possibility. Truth be told, if she hadn’t told him she wanted him, Stiles would’ve assumed it was one sided still. The prior kiss did confirm that what they both felt was so real, his mind still numb in a blissful way. As bad as it was to kiss Lydia’s best friend, he didn’t want to get caught. Mieczyslaw knew he had to do the right thing and break it off with Lydia if they were really going to do this, yet he felt overwhelmed with guilt as he tried to shake it away. Swallowing a lump down his throat, Stiles nodded rapidly. “Yeah, yeah. No, we really shouldn’t be doing this here. Especially not right now.” Yet, he felt as if Caroline was magnetic and he was attracted to the blonde and the excitement a little too much. “I want this with you, too, Care. And I -- I don’t think you’re selfish. I think I’m selfish.” Huffing out a breath, he waved a hand. “But we’ll figure it out, right? Like we always do?” Taking a small step backwards, he was hesitant to be distant from the vampire once more but he also didn’t want her employees to come in and witness the display of affection they’d shared. Hope swirled behind his chestnut hues, peering deeply into Caroline’s eyes.

sunshinexcarebear:
This felt so surreal, like she’d been sucked into a movie and it wasn’t actually happening. She was such a terrible person for doing this to her own best friend, for having romantic feelings for Lydia’s boyfriend. What was wrong with her? The blonde wanted to stop and not ruin the relationship between Stiles and Lydia, but her heart wanted this so much that she felt unable to put a stop to what they were doing. And here they were, in the back of her clothing store, kissing for the very first time. They had been best friends since childhood, but never had Caroline and Stiles kissed the way that they were doing in this very moment. There was so much heat, desire, passion and longing attached to it as her lips tenderly brushed against his. Caroline brought her arms around his neck, pulling her body flush against his as a small moan of joy passed through her lips next. They were sneaking around behind Lydia’s back, yet all she could think about was being with Stiles and the future she could possibly have with him. Their friendship would no longer be the same, but what if it could be better now that the element of romance was there? What if it wouldn’t be ruined?
The heat behind Stiles’ cheeks began to dissipate. As the blonde’s lips brushed his own, he could feel her hands on his frame as he was pulled flush against Caroline. It felt like a dream to Stiles, knowing he’d had romantic feelings for Caroline since high school. Yet, he’d never acted on it until now. Maybe it wasn’t the best time to be honest with her, knowing he was doing something wrong by dating Lydia, her best friend. And yet, Stiles couldn’t tear himself away. His tongue glided gently across her lower lip, trying to coax Caroline into a deeper kiss. Should he have felt like a terrible person? Probably. But his hands slid up her sides, up her arms until one hand rested on Caroline’s hip and the other claimed the side of her face, caressing her skin with his fingertips. Stiles didn’t think it was wrong to be in love with the vampire. However, he wanted to be a good boyfriend to Lydia and kissing Caroline definitely fell into the category of bad boyfriend. A shiver ran down his spine from the intensity of their kiss, a gentle moan passing through his lips, against the blonde’s. Their friendship would never be the same after crossing the boundaries from friends to something more. But Stiles didn’t mind that, knowing his heart was set on everything Caroline was and could be; everything they could be.

sunshinexcarebear:
She couldn’t believe that they were really about to do this, it felt so surreal to Caroline. But at the same time, she’d also never felt more alive. Never did she think in her entire life that Stiles would be the one who would make her feel that way, like she could take on the world with ease and nothing could stop her. As he moved towards her, she eyed him intently, watching his every move and listening to his every word. It was like Stiles was voicing every single thing that Caroline was thinking and also feeling and that meant that they were both on the same page and wanted the same thing. But even though she felt an insane rush of excitement and happiness because it was wrong, the blonde also felt fear. She was afraid that the element of romance would ruin their friendship, that their dynamic would never be the same again and that it might be a detriment. She didn’t want that, but the vampire wanted to explore this - what they could be. When Stiles said he loved her, Caroline gulped slightly, knowing that he didn’t just mean it in a best friend sort of way - the way he’d always meant it in the past. This made it more real and different, more intense. “I love you too.” she mumbled softly, though she felt shocked at her own words because she’d never said those words to Stiles like this. “We’re really gonna do this, aren’t we?”
Stiles silently mulled over his choices as he peered at Caroline; brows softening, features gentle. He wasn’t willing to budge, to stop whatever was going to happen between them. Lydia. Think about Lydia. The brunette couldn’t though. Caroline was the one who held his heart, even without knowing it until now. Never did Stiles think he’d become the boyfriend who cheats, yet everything in the universe had seemed to always put the two together. It was like Caroline and Stiles were made for each other; a thought churning in his mind. When Caroline reciprocated his words, his face grew extremely hot, flushing a rosy color. He didn’t want to ruin their friendship, nor did he want to do this to Lydia. But Stiles felt as if his body were on auto pilot, like Caroline was a magnet and he was drawn to her. Finally, the male sealed the entire space between them, lips pressing together thinly. “I guess we are.” Was all he could coherently come up with before he leaned in, his lips finally hitting the blonde’s tenderly. Stiles’ eyes snapped shut, brow elevating as he remained there, testing the waters between them with a gentle kiss. The heat from his face shot down his spine now, his heart rate climbing from the move he’d made. He felt a spark of excitement shoot through his veins, all worries of his relationship with Lydia disappeared. He did feel guilty but he knew in his heart that Caroline might be the one for him and Stiles selfishly didn’t want to walk away once more without initiating something between the pair. His biggest desire was for Caroline to understand that he wanted her in the same way she wanted him.
