also, people literally victimizing r/hysand’s abuse has to be the craziest thing to come out of sjm’s fandom. its the: “i can’t even IMAGINE how it must have felt when r/hys had to mind-r*pe f/eyre, or when he made her dance for him and sexually assaulted her. poor bat boy :(”
and they literally ignore that he’s the one inflicting the abuse, but he’s the only one being pitied and not y’know – the literal teenager he’s drugging and assaulting. f/eyre stans hate f/eyre more than anyone, i swear.

I want you to know y’all, if you ever doubt in your writing capabilities know that you did not write Nesta getting on her knees to apologize to Amren after she called her a “pathetic waste of life.”
Have a nice day!

I think what bothers me the most about Nehemia’s death is more what came after. It solidified, for me, that SJM’s dealing was more prejudiced than an honest mistake. Because I think the greatest indicator of one’s intention is their reaction and subsequent progress. If SJM released TOG and then after receiving and listening to the criticism, changed the way she wrote black/poc in ACOTAR and CC, then I could have taken her writing of Nehemia as a blunder, and not of an indicator of her being racist.
But, SJM, after receiving a lot of criticism about how she handled Nehemia not only ignored the criticism, but she DID IT AGAIN, to another woman of color, for the same fucking reason. And then her handling of black/poc becomes even more violent from this point forward, and just really disgusting. We have F/enrys, who literally is tortured for A/elin, willing to literally die to save her, and bound to her in a blood oath. Then the treatment of both of the “good” queens. The ugly, violent, and extremely weirdly coded language around Demetra’s death. F/eyre’s narration sexualizes her, and gives not even a second thought after she died for them. Sorscha is forgotten so quickly by the narrative it’s sickening. Her death little more than shock value.
Almost everyone WOC is characterized as closed off, villainous at first, or as rivals. Not one of them are just introduced as smoothly as the white characters. The Summer Court shitted on, and they still fight for the people who stole from them in the middle of a war.
The pattern concerning POC is insanely racist. I need people to stop thinking of racism as something that’s okay so long as it’s not intentional. It’s an ideology — people are interpellated into it, most racists don’t think they’re racist. But SJM isn’t unaware, she’s never even tried to change, and the fact that she’s consistent in her treatment of POC insanely racist. The fact that she felt comfortable using the death of a black woman to sell her books literally reiterates how she treats woc/poc in her books. And if that ruins your fandom, than idk what that says abt you but hey...I just want to let you know that I literally have zero sympathy for racists and their apologist. Like zero, zip. If your idea is that it’s not racist, then idk what to say. You literally can’t get any more racist then SJM’s depiction of her POC.

It’s also funny that N/esta is seen as unforgivable because she was mean as a young adult. Yet R/hys, a five-hundred year-old male, who is a head of state, is one of the oldest High Lords, and the most powerful High Lord, is forgiven for intentionally abusing F/eyre because he wanted to make her boyfriend angry. And he’s forgiven because....well his trauma. But N/esta is a bitch? E/lain is a bitch? Because they were impoverished children and didn’t turn into Faery Katniss Everdeen. C/assian killing a whole town of people? R/hys being a fucking evil dark lord? Ah. Yes, but the young women who didn’t take their trauma like the virtue embodied — they’re evil. Okay, SJM your internal misogyny is just egregious at this point. And this the ACOTAR fandom’s misogyny is also just as astounding.

sorry to burst your bubble but misgendering “bad” trans ppl is just as transphobic as misgendering any other trans person bc it implies being correctly gendered is merely a privilege that may be revoked by cis ppl so long as they dont like us which is an incredibly harmful mindset to promote.

thoughts on nesta and her arc and relationship with her family and cassian in acosf?
I do want to give a well put together response but I genuinely cannot bring myself to acknowledge s/jm’s books any longer as of sept 2021 even to rant. nesta’s arc can be summarised as a retelling of the taming of the shrew, and it is by no means an exaggeration. her relationship with cassian is purely sexual and carries no emotion or love whatsoever. her relationship with the ic is messed up with mor (a fellow abuse survivor, I might add) comparing nesta to abusers, amren and cassian calling her worthless (despite her saying she hated herself), elain just being weirdly mean and rhysand threatening to kill her since she told feyre that he kept important info about her pregnancy from her after relating to the restricting circumstances they were both placed in.
the book also depowers her and encourages keeping the limits of her own power from her lest she conquer the world or whatever the fuck too - hashtag sjm is the queen of feminism I guess.

What bugs me even more is how EASY it would have been for R/hysand to just talk to F/eyre and T/amlin. He can literally mind-speak, he had no reason to go about things even a fraction of how they went. He could have just talked to T/amlin on Calanmai. He could have talked to T/amlin when he found F/eyre. He could have told T/amlin his plan, or even F/eyre. He could have ASKED HER if she wanted play a part, if only to get her out of the cell, he could have told her what needs to be done, and the pros and cons. There is NO ONE around when he talks to her in her cell, he could just talk to her, and tell her these things.
He could have talked to T/amlin after UTM and explain himself, his plans. But he lacks these critical thinking skills. I guess I should say Sarah did. When he almost breaks F/eyre’s mind to the point where she’s going to piss herself?? He had to do that? He couldn’t have just PULLED T/AMLIN ASIDE?? He couldn’t have explained to L/ucien? Maybe they take turns helping F/eyre? He couldn’t do any of this shit?? Like when I read the book, I thought of several different ways to go about things and I was a fucking teenager. R/hys is supposed to be FIVE HUNDRED.

I’m curious what do you have against the MCU?
completely took over an industry that was already restricted by nepotism and wealth and privilege and made it even harder for any new or creative or diverse ideas to be made and convinced millions of people that having lots of cgi is good cinema so now everything is so polished and shiny and ugly and soulless but still has this unearned cult of worship surrounding it so NOBODY can dare point out the military propaganda or bare minimum diversity or frankly bland filmmaking because if you do you're just a loser and it doesn't matter if you're a movie lover who just wants new and different content or martin scorcese because marvel has completely taken over cinema and criticism is not allowed because how DARE people not give a shit about iron man or loki and there's no need for decent characterisation or complex themes because it's easier to just make villains that are like "capitalism is bad...and also MURDERING CHILDREN IS OKAY!!!" so you can put out your sloppy storylines and make people think it's the morally righteous thing to do to pay money to watch every single one of your sequels and spin offs and reboots and whenever people start to complain about how the film and tv industry is becoming a husk of repetition you just shove benedict cumberbatch in the next spiderman movie or whatever because how can people be mad that we're making sure we're slowing sucking life out of the moving image when we're doing such fun crossovers? and of course all these crossovers are SO important so you have to watch all fifty movies and twenty shows and thirty spinoffs to understand anything else in our universe and you're damn sure we're going to be releasing the next thing as soon as the other is out of theatres or is out of episodes because we CANNOT have people straying and finding media that isn't owned by us at least not until our parent company has bought out that media as well because absolutely everything has to be disney and WE'RE the powerhouse right now and you are never going to escape it and if you want your work to get any kind of support or funding then you better hope you're lucky, know someone rich or with connections, or it features captain america because otherwise you can get fucked but don't worry sometimes we have movies abpout women too so we're actually a #girlboss cinematic universe and if you don't like the stuff we make then you HATE WOMEN and you HATE CINEMA and you HATE PEOPLE BEING HAPPY and originality and creativity is a myth and you're either with us or against us but if you're not with us prepare to find us following you all the fucking time anyway because you are NOT allowed to have interests outside of the MCU we are everywhere and either you will watch spiderloki 58: captain marvel: the revenge of environmentalists or we will fucking kill you ourselves

The mating bond basically ruins all sense of intimacy in a relationship. I’m really not the biggest fan of people confessing to each other then instantly having ‘wild’ sex for a week or how they remain horny for the rest of their lives. We really get robbed of soft confessions, non-sexual touching and conversations.
It also seems like every relationship just happens because they’re mates and they only begin liking each other because they’re mates. It makes the chemistry between them seem so fake and shallow
I don’t hate the idea of soulmates, it just makes the relationships seem so contrived and flimsy. It’d be better if the mating bond snapped into place after dating for a while, at least they’d know if they actually liked each other as people

When people kept telling me to show not tell with my writing I really genuinely thought they meant ‘add more descriptors’.
That isn’t what it means. It means show evidence supporting what you’re trying to say your character is. Actions show things better than words.
If for example your character gives the most milquetoast denial of slavery (“I don’t believe in keeping slaves”) with no follow up and doesn’t treat servants or possible slaves well and doesn’t even consider whether or not the people serving her in an apparently slave-owning country are slaves…
I’m not gonna believe your character cares about or is working towards freedom for everyone.

begging stans to stop trying to assert that vassa’s a woc just bc she’s described with uptilted eyes. you know who else is described as having uptilted eyes? fey/re. who is unquestionably white. like i’m sorry but uptilted blue eyes (when other white characters also have uptilted eyes), “golden” skin (which s/jm uses for! everyone!), and red hair do not sound like an s/jm woc description, okay? there’s literally no shame in admitting s/jm is just terrible at writing poc and likes to use “gold” without considering the implications, yk.

“Feyre, for Cauldron’s sake. I drug you, but you don’t wonder why I never touch you beyond your waist or arms?”
Until tonight—until that damned kiss. I gritted my teeth, but even as my anger rose, a picture cleared.
“It’s the only claim I have to innocence,” he said, “the only thing that will make Tamlin think twice before entering into a battle with me that would cause a catastrophic loss of innocent life. It’s the only way I can convince him I was on your side. Believe me, I would have liked nothing more than to enjoy you—but there are bigger things at stake than taking a human woman to my bed.”
“the only claim i have to innocence” is a STUPIDLY overcomplicated sentence, just say “it’s my only claim to innocence”, and “well at least i didn’t rape you even though i wanted to, i just drugged you, dressed you up in scraps, made you dance & sit in my lap all night, and kissed you without consent!” is absolutely NOT the stunning argument this book seems to think it is.
this just makes no sense to me. tam was ALREADY mad??? he HATES amarantha and then she put his gf’s life in danger?? he’s already mad enough to want to kill amarantha, the idea that he needs some pushing to want to do it is just bs. in absolutely no universe does rhy/sand HAVE to do anything to make him angrier, messing with fey/re is only going to call his attention TO rh/ys when it wasn’t there before? idk how anyone can stand this man. based off his actual actions either he’s EXTREMELY dumb or he’s actively malicious.
