she reads the dictionary to expand her lungs. when the wind is pushing against her lips. but she breathes her silver breaths into my mouth. as a way to keep us warm. in words I’ve never heard before. pulchtritudinous. resplendent. splendiferous. in analogies that kept us Golden from the start. the sun is to the moon as the moon is to the stars. the words are to the page as you are in my heart. forever stuck & ever glowing.

People Matching Artworks
French photographer Stefan Draschan has spent countless hours visiting different museums in Paris, Vienna and Berlin where he would wait for visitors to match with a piece of art.

hello tumblr!
after half a year of working on this project, i am glad to release my first chapbook today, this year: POEMS 2017, a short collection of poems and artworks attempting to map out each month from the year 2017—a little gift of gratitude for following and reading my content for the past years.
it contains twelve poems, two of which i have not published anywhere else, alongside the amazing translation of these poems into paintings by Jem Torrecampo (@shibe-draws). For commissions or inquiries, you may reach her via instagram, twitter, and of course tumblr. Please give her a follow too!
you can download the chapbook HERE for free. i would appreciate it so much if you’d share this as well, to get the word out.
thank you in advance, dear readers! :)
with you, janyn

“In spite of everything I shall rise again.” -Vincent Van Gogh
I picked up some art prints from my favorite painter today at my school’s poster sale, and as it’s world mental health day, I thought it would be appropriate to say something about him as well.
I could go on an on about Van Gogh, but I’ll keep it simple- he, like everyone else, was so much more than his mental illness. He was so so much more than this tragic, suicidal figure we’ve painted him as. He wanted to improve, and he did improve, and his best works were created when he was at his best health. He likely didn’t even commit suicide, as so many people think- the details get really fuzzy about it when you start looking into it.
But anyway, being mentally healthy is so important to creativity, and people often don’t realize that. If you want to learn more about Van Gogh, I’d highly recommend the movie “Loving Vincent.” It’s gorgeous and super interesting.
But to all my fellow creatives out there- take care of yourselves. It’s what Vincent would want.

“October” by Robert Frost
O hushed October morning mild, Thy leaves have ripened to the fall; Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild, Should waste them all. The crows above the forest call; Tomorrow they may form and go. O hushed October morning mild, Begin the hours of this day slow. Make the day seem to us less brief. Hearts not averse to being beguiled, Beguile us in the way you know. Release one leaf at break of day; At noon release another leaf; One from our trees, one far away. Retard the sun with gentle mist; Enchant the land with amethyst. Slow, slow! For the grapes’ sake, if they were all, Whose leaves already are burnt with frost, Whose clustered fruit must else be lost— For the grapes’ sake along the wall.
