Shaun had just gotten back into town from a trip back to Ireland, more excited to see Meg than anyone else. He was so happy that she’d volunteered to pick him up from the airport- and of course he’d take her to dinner to thank her. As he scanned the crowd for his girl, butterflies grew in his chest and stomach. The relief of seeing her washed over him as he found her. He practically tossed his bag down as he scooped her up, hugging her close to his body, “Missed m’girl.” His face was pressed into her shoulder, making his words muffled, “Missed m’princess.”
He set her down after a moment, moving to plant a long-needed kiss on her lips, “Let’s get outta ‘ere m’love, let’s go get lost t’gether.” He smiled his sugar-sweet smile, his eyes locked on her as he began admiring her, “I swear ye’ get prettier e’rytime I see ye’, Meg.”

It’d been a few weeks since Shaun had found Ray in the woods; he was more than glad that he found him and not someone else. Sure, Shaun was a demon, but that didn’t mean he was a bad guy.
As the sun came up over the horizon, a soft sigh of relief escaped the demon’s lips. He headed back inside, pulling his phone from his pocket to text Ray a little ‘hey r u up?’ message. He soon followed it up with, ‘wanna come over for breakfast or something?’

When he returned, Shaun set the clothes on the edge of the sink. He knelt down in front of the other again, “Are ye’ allergic to anything? Can ye’ take stuff like Tylenol?” He was genuinely concerned for this guy, with good reason.
He gently took the towel from him again, gently dabbing it along a small cut on his face, “Can ye’ take the hoodie off for me so I can look at ye’r shoulder, or do ye’ need help?” He knew how to take care of people well enough, hopefully he was doing okay taking care of this one.
With a soft smile, he took off his own hoodie, “Ye’ can have mine once we’re done here, I’ve got plenty. Ye’rs is, well...” He tugged at one of the tears gently, “A bit torn up.”
Disoriented and confused, alarm was a dull ache of a feeling. He didn’t feel well. His vision swam and only some of the words registered with him as the man fussed. He couldn’t see right and he couldn’t imagine what he’d initially thought could be right.
Ray wiped at where he felt stiff, dried blood coming away on the towel, still blurry from the fact he didn’t have his glasses, and from, what was dawning on him, might be blood loss? Everything felt far away and fuzz, throbs of pain like echos in a deep cave.
Worst of all, his favorite hoodie was in tatters.

Shaun’s protective instincts immediately started kicking in when he saw Ray start to move around, “Hey, hey, it’s alright.” He shushed the other gently, “C’mere, it’s okay, lemme help ye’.” He leaned forward, a kind hand extended toward him, “C’mere, sweetheart.”
The demon stood after a moment, hands visible as he did, “I’m gonna go get ye’ some fresh clothes, okay?” He leaned down, handing the warm, wet towel to the other, “I’ll be back in a moment, okay? Ye’ can clean y’erself off with anythin’ in here, help y’erself.” With that, he left the room, heading upstairs to his bedroom to get some clothes for the poor guy in his bathroom.
Ray didn’t start to swim back to consciousness until the warm wet towel was dabbed over his face. Accented words washed over him and he blinked into consciousness, slowly, and then all at once. It was black and hazy with words flowing over him for a moment, and then it was all bright white lights and stark bathroom tiles and sheer white towels. He panicked, scrambling with his hands and holding onto the man’s arm and the side of the tub, chest heaving with the initial breath.
He stared up at him as his mind did what it could to piece together what it could. Something in the woods. Pain. Blood.
When his eyes focused, as little they did without his glasses, he noted that the figure in front of him had a kind face and a soothing tone, and two little horns protruding from his skull.
“W’the fuck?” Ray’s words were slurred, but some small part of him hoped he didn’t have a concussion.

Right on time, Shaun was knocking on her door. He was dressed nicely, in a suit and tie. When the door finally opened for him, his eyes grew bright and wide, “Aw, christ, Meg...” He breathed, looking down at her. God, she was gorgeous. He cracked a grin and leaned down to kiss her, one hand moving to rest on her waist, “You ready t’get outta ‘ere, baby girl?”
He took his hand from her waist, removing his tie and handing it to her, “Our lit’le dinner date is a surprise, m’dear, would you be so kind as to blindfold y’erself once we’re in th’car?” He smiled, offering a hand for her to hold as he came back to his previous statement, “Y’er so perfect, how’d i get so lucky?”
“Sounds perfect,” Meg said, reaching up to kiss him, a soft peck on the lips, “I’ll see you then, Shaun. I can’t wait.” She was always reluctant to pull away from him. It simply had to be done if she wanted to be ready on time. Her eyes lingered on him for a moment. waiting for him to leave before grabbing her stuff.
Meg had bought the perfect little black dress a few months ago. She had opportunity to wear it, but never did. It was clear now why she hadn’t. The universe knew a better occasion was going to happen. Shaun definitely counted as a better occasion. She liked dressing up for him. There was no pressure, and he always made her feel gorgeous.
He would be to her place any minute. She checked her hair and makeup in the mirror. She’d kept the curls simple and chose classic Hollywood styling for her makeup. She just had to slip on her heels, grab her purse, and wait for Shaun.

Shaun picked up his pace a little when he noticed the blood soaking through the blanket. As soon as he was close enough to his back door, he turned the handle with his tail, rushing to the little bathroom just around the corner. He knelt down, setting the person in his arms down gently as he slowly unwrapped him.
He tossed the blanket into the bathtub, to be washed later. With a little bit of a worried whimper in his throat, he shook the other gently. This person was now his responsibility. He spoke softly, “Hey, there, how ye’ doin’? M’name’s Shaun, I found ye’ outside.” His voice was gentle as he rested a hand on the other’s cheek, trying to wake him gently, “Stay with me, beautiful, I’m not gonna let you hurt like this.”
He reached to the towel hanging on the rack, standing up briefly to wet it with warm water in the sink. He gently dabbed the towel over the other’s face, “How ye’ gettin’ along there, doll, think you can pull through f'er me?”
When he was found in the grass under the trees in the thick of the forest, Ray was unconscious. Smattered with blood, mostly his own. A few thick bites, the teeth of some great animal, they marred his arm and shoulder. Closed and congealed, blood crusting at the edges. If it wasn’t taken care of it was going to scar horribly. If he’d be left with use of his arm at all.
Ray was in tattered clothes, his glasses missing. They were somewhere in the grass cracked with his broken DS and pack of smokes. He had a few scratches apart from the bite wounds, but was otherwise alright, blood matting some of his brown hair.
When he was scooped up, lanky and kinda gangly, the bites in his shoulder and arm were moved and shifted enough they opened. They didn’t bleed too hard, but they did bleed, soaking through the shreds of his hoodie and the blanket he was wrapped in.

Shaun grinned, his eyes lighting up as he looked at her, “Glad I could steal ye’ then, ‘cause our reservations are for an hour from now.” He chuckled and nuzzled his nose to her cheek before setting her down, “I’ll let ye’ go home and get ready, then be by t’pick ye’ up a bit before then. Sound good, beautiful?”
He leaned down to press a kiss to her nose, “I’d tell ye’ where we’re going, but it’d ruin the surprise. Just wear something fancy, yeah? It’s a pretty fancy place.” Shaun, you literally rented out a diner. Just for the two of you. Not exactly fancy, but the idea is pretty cute.
Meg let out a surprised squeal when he picked her up. She’d been so engrossed in work that she hadn’t realized he was there. It was a lovely surprise. She welcomed the distraction. In fact, she should really be finishing up and heading home. This was the perfect reason to do just that.
“No,” Meg answered with a smile, “I have dinner plans with a very handsome Irishman. He looks a lot like you though.” Meg wrapped her arms around him and returned the kiss to his cheek. “He seems to be running late so I might have to take you up on the offer.”

Shaun obviously thought he was being sneaky by coming up behind Meg, scooping her up once he was close enough. It was the end of the day and she’d been working hard all week; she deserved a little LITERAL pick-me-up. He smiled at her, “Afternoon, babydoll! Ye’ free f’er dinner t’night?” With another smile, he kissed her cheek. He’d already made reservations, so if she said no, he’d be stuck taking Michael out. Which, for the record, he wouldn’t mind, but he’d rather have Meg.

It wasn’t often that Shaun felt compelled to go into the woods. This morning was different. He NEEDED to go out there. Something- SOMEONE was out there. He could SENSE it.
He pulled on a hoodie and grabbed a blanket from the hall closet before heading out the backdoor, trudging through his backyard and into the woods that sat at the very back. He hummed softly to himself, his short tail swinging along to the rhythm as he kept on his walk.
The demon stopped cold in his tracks when he saw the scene in front of him. There’s the SOMEONE. He tensed up a little, his ears suddenly perking up at the sounds of the forest. He needed to assess the surroundings. As he looked around, his pupils shrunk to thin little lines in the center of his dark hazel eyes.
After making sure everything was in order around him, he unfolded the blanket, resting it over the other before scooping them up in a smooth motion in an attempt to make sure not to cause them any pain. He looked down at their face, noting the features so he could remember better and report this found person if needed.

Shaun smirked up at her, gently pulling her into his lap as he scooted his chair back, “Come t’visit me, eh?” He chuckled and wrapped his arm around her waist, his other hand grabbing his coffee so he could try to wake himself up further. This little ray of sunshine in his lap was definitely helping though.
He set his coffee down on the desk and nudged his nose against her cheek before kissing it, “How’re ye’ doin’ t’day, doll?”
