I've seen a few people accuse Emilie of not doing the research for her book, but I don't really think that's the case. There are plenty of details that show at least some amount of haphazard research. What I think she's really doing is deliberately distorting the facts to push the radical feminist narrative that womanhood is defined by suffering at the hands of evil men.

the problem with Emilie isn't just how problematic she is. I mean, that is a problem, but not the problem. The problem is that she shields herself behind her disorder and traumas to be problematic. As if she couldn't help it and everyone has to shut up about it because how are you going to criticize a mentally ill person? It's viewed in bad taste. And her defenders do not see that.
#wayward victorian confessions#at this point i know she's a bad person#i just try to seperate the art from the artist#which is really hard#but like#I like the stuff she's made#it just sucks that she sucks

Greavesly, to a Chaser: "I'm pretty sure he's the only one here who isn't rabid, so I think that's why he's in charge."

If anyone wants an artist recommendation similar to Emilie, I recommend Birdeatsbaby.
As far as I'm aware, they aren't problematic, and they're still making music. And some of it (Feast of Hammers, the album) just gives me Emilie vibes tbh.

Y’all ever think about how Veronica Varlow, a grown ass woman, kissed a bunch of teenagers on stage every night?

My genuine advice to anyone who "wishes they could move on" from her: don't. Take that inspiration, take the things you love about her art and make your own. If she did it, so can you!

If Emilie was going to start making music again, she could try doing it similar to the style from The Devil's Carnival. I think she does it rather well

Does this fandom literally follow no other musical artists? I can’t think of another explanation for how irrationally upset you all are about promised projects that didn’t come to fruition. Every other musical artist I follow has promised a project or projects that ended up never seeing the light of day. It’s totally normal and to be expected, especially with smaller independent artists. Screaming that emilie has to be “held accountable” for her “lies” is laughable. Are you children?

NAC:
Is there any blogs that have a timeline with Ea's works and dramas?
@shefightslikeagirl / @emilieautumnarchives have lots of information and articles about works and drama. There's nothing in a timeline format, but SFLAG takes requests, so you could ask.
@asylumplaguedoctor has some old drama stuff.
@millionsofstrangeshadows has a few masterposts about drama and problematic things.

“I love each and every one of you, Ratties, just as you are.” So, there won’t be any unchecked fatphobia in the musical, then, right? … Right?
