She’s still there, the jonin thought. Pausing mid-kata to look towards the other woman and wondered if they should just... speak up or something. Yori was usually looked over whenever they weren’t on a mission, so this focus of attention outside of fighting was an entirely new experience for them. Still holding onto the bokken, the jonin turned so that they were looking in the woman’s direction. 

“Um...” They paused. “...are you looking for someone?”

he blinked at their retreat, spots of red staining his vision and coiled muscles straining to keep him from toppling over. the only reason he's still standing was because he'd been pumping healing chakra to his legs. continuously re-knitting torn sinews and shattered bones. soothing frayed nerves. there's a dull ache around his lower spine where he'd been struck before and tei straightened into one stilted line, the cut on his lips bleeding anew as he grinned. "water break, yori-san?"

The hand clenching the hilt of their sword–scabbard still on to prevent any unnecessary dismemberments–loosened as Yori relaxed. Their muscles ached slightly and sweat glistened on the surface of their skin, but aside from that, they didn’t looked as bad compared to the taller man.

The sight of their friend? companion? acquaintance? spurned a feeling inside of their chest, they couldn’t identify with it just yet. All Yori knew that it made them feel bad, but the other man wasn’t complaining despite the amount of pain he must be in. So it must be okay.

“Sounds good.” They finally replied. "You definitely earned it, Kasuga-kun, will you be alright?”

Family - Kimura Clan

Though Yori carries the Kimura name on certain documents ( like their death certificiate, more on that later ), they never maintained any connection to it. Whenever they would introduce themselves to others, they would just only go by ‘Yori’.

Yori never met their parents or other siblings, they might’ve glimpsed them from time to time, but has kept their distance .After all, Yori was declared ‘dead’ within the Kimura clan once they were born. It was so that the family wouldn’t get attached and vice versa.
