I think it is funny how terrible of a hunter Arthur is, because while we can make him a good hunter, cannonically he quite sucks.

He cannot use a bow in the beginning of the game.

Literally says he is a terrible fisher several times, which is also proven through the story Dutch tells about him buying three fish instead of catching them on his own.

Hosea tells a story about Arthur having hunted rabbits before but used a shotgun and absolutely obliterated them.

Arthur is quite often on longer trips so I can just imagine Dutch and Hosea making sure he brings enough food with him because they know if he runs out he is actually fucked.
