Love and Light
Love and light are powerful symbols that resonate deeply with the essence of my blog. Love, with its warmth and compassion, has the ability to connect people and heal hearts. Light, with its brightness and illumination, symbolizes clarity, enlightenment, and guidance in times of darkness. By choosing these words to represent my blog, I am not only embracing positivity but also spreading kindness and hope to my readers. I focus on love and light signifies your commitment to uplifting and inspiring others, making my blog a beacon of positivity in a world that sometimes feels overwhelmed by negativity. Keep shining your love and light through your words and continue to make a difference in the lives of those who seek solace and encouragement.
In my blog post "Photographer's Eye," I explored five images captured with my mirrorless camera. While I used the term "candid moments" to depict the photos, the underlying theme, especially in the image descriptions, revolves around love. These images portray the affection and brightness exchanged among individuals, and I find it truly captivating to have captured such moments on camera.
As I sift through each image, I am reminded of the beauty that lies within the simplicity of human connection. The way a smile can light up a face, how a gentle touch can convey a world of emotions, and the way eyes meet, revealing unspoken stories. It is in these fleeting moments that love truly shines through, capturing the essence of what it means to be human. Each photograph tells a unique tale, a chapter in the grand story of life, frozen in time for us to revisit and cherish. Through my lens, I strive to capture not just faces and places but the very essence of love and connection that binds us all together.
In the blog post I created titled "Public Art" I looked at a sculpture of Romeo and Juliet that is here on my local FSW campus. What more can symbolize love than a sculpture of one of the greatest love stories in English literature? The sculpture stands tall and proud, capturing the essence of Shakespeare's tragic lovers in a timeless embrace. As the sun sets behind it, casting a warm glow over the campus, the figures seem to come to life, their love story unfolding before the eyes of all who pass by.
Public art has a unique way of bringing beauty and storytelling to our surroundings, adding depth and meaning to our daily lives. The sculpture of Romeo and Juliet serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring themes of love, passion, and tragedy that resonate with people from all walks of life. It invites us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the artistry and emotion captured in its intricate details. This piece of public art not only enhances the aesthetics of the campus but also sparks conversations and connections among those who encounter it, fostering a sense of community and shared appreciation for the arts. As we admire this sculpture, we are reminded of the universal language of love that transcends time and space, touching our hearts and inspiring us to cherish the beauty and complexity of human relationships.
In this blog post, I delved into the intricate world of abstract images, exploring the essence of light in art. As I gazed upon a mesmerizing painting, I found myself drawn to its vibrant hues and captivating forms. The play of colors reminded me of a joyous sunset, casting a warm glow that evoked a sense of tranquility and wonder.
Through my analytical lens, I uncovered the subtle nuances of light within the artwork, unraveling its hidden depths and underlying emotions. Each brushstroke seemed to dance with the essence of light, creating a symphony of colors that spoke to the soul.
As I reflected on the beauty of the painting, I realized how light can be a powerful force in art, shaping our perceptions and eliciting a range of emotions. It serves as a beacon of inspiration, guiding us through the shadows and illuminating the path to creativity and self-expression. "Abstract Images" encapsulated my journey of discovery, where light became the thread that wove together art and emotion, inviting readers to embark on a visual adventure of light and color.
By connecting with my audience through my blog, I have found a platform to express my thoughts and ideas freely. The feedback and interactions I receive help me refine my creativity and see things from different perspectives. It's amazing how sharing my work online has not only allowed me to showcase my creativity but also has pushed me to explore new ways of thinking and approaching my craft. The journey of blogging has truly been a rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my passion with the world.

Ekphrasis
Tumblr media
In this painting, you see a beautiful use of color to create light and depth, as well as texture, which is seen in the brushstrokes used by the artist. The color yellow under the Cafe's patio creates light making it look as if the lights of the Cafe are on as well as the ones inside the surrounding buildings. The different hues of blue add a nice depth to the sky that is painted in the picture. The brushstrokes that the artist used to show texture, and we see this in the floor of the painting, which gives the look of pavers. All of these details create a picture so pretty that you imagine yourself in it, where you are sitting at the Cafe with a coffee or walking down the beautiful street enjoying the stary night sky and scenery around you.
The visual piece I chose is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh titled Café Terrace at Night, which was created in 1888. The essential details of the piece are the colors and how they add light and shadow to the image, making it very vivid. I chose to describe the image as if I was seeing it in a museum. I am a big fan of Van Gogh's work; I enjoy how he paints a vivid picture with a sort of rough texture that is so beautiful that it makes me feel like I would like to be in the place he painted. My ekphrasis brings a description to the painting that captures not just the image but more of a technical view of how the painting was created.

Not Seen on TV
The video I have chosen shows a man falling into a body of water slowly and then you see the man come back up as he slowly starts to float back to the surface of the water. The details that to me seem important are the sound of the video and the colors seen in the video. The sound of the video seems a bit muted or as if you were underwater and you hear the splash in the water very slowly and low-pitched since the video is slowed down. The colors are also important because the body of water in the video is very dark as well as the man looks very pale and is wearing light-colored clothing. In the video, the man also does not seem urged to get out of the water. From this, you probably interpret that the man in the body of water could be going through something or "drowning in something" if you will, I think that is possibly what the video wants viewers to think about. From my point of view, the video is taking a critical stance. The video urges me to be mindful of others as we never know what that person may be drowning in. The piece that I chose to analyze challenges the know-how of watching television. This is because when you sit down to watch television you do not sit there analyzing what is happening and looking at details to find the meaning as to why a certain sound or color is being used.

Tragedy Scripted and Staged
For this post, I chose to analyze the famous scene from Hamlet in Act 3, Scene 1, in which the famous soliloquy "to be or not to be" can be seen. In choosing this scene, I decided to see how it would fit with my interpretation of reading just that quote; the scene seems to be very dramatic, which is exactly what it seems to be. It seems as though Hamlet is contemplating facing life's challenges directly or ending them by killing himself rather than just saying to live or not to live. As I read it this time, I realized that there is more depth to it than just Hamlet telling me to live or not to live. Similarly, the fact that he is alone on the stage gives the scene depth and adds to the drama of the scene because it feels as if you are inside his private thoughts as you watch him perform on the stage alone. This scene in Hamlet's play seems to suggest that he may be experiencing some emotion at this time since he is grieving over the loss of his father, who was murdered by his uncle. The famous soliloquy "to be or not to be" captures this inner turmoil as Hamlet ponders the merits of enduring the pain of existence or seeking solace in the release of death. This moment of introspection reveals the depth of Hamlet's internal struggle and sets the stage for the intricate web of deception and revenge that unfolds in this timeless tragedy.

Anatomy of a Scene
"Moonlight" beautifully depicts Chiron's journey as he attempts to find himself and what it means to grow up and find one's identity as he explores the complexities of growing up. As he navigates through these defining moments, we witness the profound impact of the community around him. The kindness, support, and love he receives from those who help raise him play a crucial role in shaping his path to manhood. This portrayal serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, understanding, and unity within a community. In the same way that Chiron's journey is enriched by the care of those around him, we are reminded of the positive impact we can have on each other's lives by expressing kindness and showing support to each other. The movie adopts a slow pace, replacing the typical three-act structure with three segments that depict crucial stages in Chiron's life: childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Despite its 111-minute duration, the film gives the impression of being longer because of its pacing.
In lost in translation Charlotte and Bob meet in Tokyo. Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) is a conflicted newlywed and Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is a lonely, aging movie star. As Charlotte is accompanying her husband, a celebrity photographer, Bob is there to film a Japanese whiskey commercial. A chance encounter in the silent lull of the hotel bar provides escape, distraction and understanding for the two strangers in a foreign land. Between the two of them, an unlikely and heartfelt bond develops as well as a deep, meaningful feeling of friendship. Lost in the vibrant energy of Tokyo, Charlotte and Bob learn valuable lessons about love, loneliness, and the beauty of human connection. Their bond, though temporary, leaves a lasting impact on both of their lives, reminding them that true companionship can be found in the most unexpected places. The scene that was effective to me was the opening scene. You see the body of a woman laying in bed, a little later you hear the airport announcement of a flight to Tokyo and then you see Bob who was asleep in the cab but then wakes up and looks almost mesmerized by all the city lights and then he sees himself on a billboard for the whiskey commercial he is shooting in Tokyo, the scene seems a bit dramatic. I do think that the scene contributes to the overall effect of the movie and joins to the broader message because seeing the woman body than Bob a few seconds later sort of foreshadows that they have a connection with each other later on in the movie.

Photographer's Eye
This collection of phone photos that I will be using today all have the unifying theme of candid moments as their unifying theme. To me, the importance of this project lies in the fact that when you look deeply at these photographs, you can see the genuine quality moments that are captured and frozen in time that have been captured on film.
Tumblr media
The the image above I am sharing a moment with my friend during our photoshoot here, and you can see that we are having a good time laughing.
Tumblr media
You can see here a picture of the aunt as well as the mom of the birthday boy having a laugh as the aunt is speaking on the telephone to the birthday boy to let him know he is special.
Tumblr media
In this image here you can see a beautiful moment shared here between the aunt as well as uncle of the birthday boy, showing him their love as well as affection as they share a moment together.
Tumblr media
In the image above you see one of the guests at the birthday party in this image is leaving another beautiful message for the birthday boy's parents to hear later on in the afternoon.
Tumblr media
It is evident in this photo that we are witnessing a heartwarming, genuine moment that was captured as the father of the birthday boy hugs one of the guests at the party, which symbolizes, in this case, love, gratitude, along with admiration, all of which are depicted in this photo.
In all, the viewer is able to see how this collection of just five photographs which does not seem like much nor the most perfect picture because no one is looking at the camera or paying attention to being in poses. I believe that this collection perfectly represents the candid moments that are shared between people in their everyday lives that they do not stop and live in, and these images are a useful reminder that we should also live in the moment as well as embrace those small moments that we miss every day in our daily lives.

My Musical Theme
The unifying idea of my playlist is the word "around" in the title. The reason I chose the theme of my playlist to be the word 'around' is because one of my current favorite songs is Morgan Wallen's Spin You Around (1/24), and I wanted the opportunity to share that. The relevance that has to me is that I like dancing, and that is what that song is about.
Morgan Wallen's Spin You Around (1/24) is a country song. It ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The tempo of the song is not very fast-paced. I find the consonance of the song in how well the sound of the guitar goes along with the harmony of Morgan Wallen's voice. The emotion the piece invokes is just wanting to dance with your loved one. The song communicates this emotion by saying, "Cause I just wanna spin you 'round, and 'round this dance floor Get you drunk on a love like mine." I think the piece being in the genre of country contributes to its message and emotional content because, usually, country music is about emotions like love or even heartbreak.
Draft Punk's Around The World ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The tempo of the song is very upbeat and fast. I find the consonance of the song in two things: when the song starts, the beat slowly gets louder, and in how the lyrics "around the world" are sung at the same tempo as the beat. The emotion the piece invokes is wanting to get up and dance. The piece communicates this emotion by using an upbeat tempo that's repetitive. The piece being in the genre of electronic/dance contributed to its message and emotional content because usually, electronic/dance music makes you want to just bop along or get up and dance.
Tony Bennett's I Wanna Be Around ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The song has a smooth melody, a slow-paced tempo and soft dynamics. I find the consonance of the song in how well the singer's voice fits with the melody and his voice isn't interrupted by the instruments in the back nor is his voice too overpowering. The emotion the piece evokes is a person sticking around for a loved one. The piece communicates this by using the lyrics "I wanna be around." The piece being in the genre of jazz contributes to its message and emotional content because it's a song about love, and it seems like a beautiful song to slow dance to with your partner.
LL Cool J's Around The Way Girl ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The song has an upbeat tempo. I find the consonance of the song in how the rap and rhythm fit together. The emotion the piece evokes is being captivated by women. The piece communicates this by describing women from the neighborhood who are stylish and confident and those who make up the community. The piece being in the genre of hip hop/rap contributes to its message and emotional content because it's a song about how women dress and look and also mentions different ethnic backgrounds.
Jordan Davis's What My World Spins Around ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The song has a slow tempo at first and then speeds up. I find the consonance of the song in how the tempo gradually gets faster. The emotion the piece evokes is that your loved one is what makes your world spin around. The piece that communicates this is the lyrics, "But girl, those don't even come close to the way that it feels when you lean in and kiss me." The piece being in the genre of country contributes to its message and emotional content because country music is typically about emotions like love or even heartbreak.
Steeleye Span's All Around My Hat ties into the theme by using the word "around" in the title. The song has a fast-paced tempo. I find the consonance of the song in how the tempo stays pretty much the same all throughout the song. The emotion the piece evokes is being forced away from your loved one and only having a piece of clothing to remember them by. The piece that communicates this is the lyrics, "And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it, it's all for my true love who's far, far away." The piece is in the genre of folk which contributes to its message and emotional content because folk music is typically about emotions like depression and war.

Plotting
It was a lovely school morning. I was in my senior year of high school. I woke up on time before my alarm. I got up and did my morning routine as usual. I made my bed, then went to the restroom, did my necessities, and brushed my teeth. I then went back to my room to get myself dressed. I do my hair and then my makeup. After that, I prepare my school bag. I make sure all the notebooks and supplies that I will be needing for the day are in my bag and ready to go. My parents would have a door-to-door van service come to pick me up from home to take me to school and then take me from school back home. All I had left to do was get picked up, so while I waited, I killed some time. I organized my room and my vanity area and put some clothes away that I had on my desk chair. Like in every house, I am certain we all see random bugs from time to time that show up in our rooms or around the house. This morning was no different than any other day when I would see a spider making its way across the floor of my room. I did what anyone else would do, I tried to kill the spider with a shoe. When I killed the spider and squashed it, a hundred baby spiders were crawling in every direction possible on the floor of my room. the van that came to pick me up was outside beeping, so I would know they were outside. I quickly got my spray bottle that had water sprayed on my whole floor and cleaned it up with a paper towel before leaving my house for the day.

Poetic License
The term for the search I used was the moon, and a poem about the moon came up. My choice of poem was a straightforward and simple one, which was very short and to the point. I liked the simplicity of this poem because it was not a poem that I felt was very hard to understand. What I think the poem is doing is describing the moon. Translating the poem into everyday speech would be telling the moon as the naked eye sees it. It is something extraordinary, something that is not see-through, it is round, as well as it lights up the night sky for us. What makes the poem aesthetic to me is how short the poem is but how clear of a picture it paints to whoever is reading it. Having said that, I like the fact that it can be understood by children and adults, as well as interpreted in a variety of ways at different levels.
The three "Terms to Remember" that I feel are appropriate and would use are simple, comprehensible, along with pleasant.
The poem I chose, I suppose it, does have a central image, the poet uses straightforward words to describe the moon. I think that the poet uses symbols in the poem, like referring to the moon as a "night-light for the world." I do not believe the poem I chose to involve consonance. I feel as if the poem does have a narrator; the person who is reading it is the narrator.

Architectural Interiors
The domestic architecture that I am choosing is my home. My home is divided into three rooms with a den, and the layout is very open. My home serves its purpose as a domestic space because it feels very homey to us, and when we are far away from home, we are always eager to come back. My house is very bright as the layout and oversized windows allow for a lot of natural light to come in. My home feels unique due to its design, as you can be in the kitchen cooking while talking to someone in the living room or watching TV. Due to there not being a wall that separates the two rooms, it is sort of one big room. Inside, there is no need for change, but we have started some outside changes, changing the design of our lanai and making the space more functional by adding a summer kitchen.
Another space I often inhabit is my friend's house. Her home is laid out differently than mine, and the way it is laid out is very unique. It is different from the interior of my home with the kitchen and living room area; in her home, there is a wall that separates the two, unlike my house, which is an open space. I prefer my home over hers because there is no place like one's house and hers is a bit crowded, but I do enjoy both spaces. Both spaces feel homey and are very unique to themselves.

Public Art
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sculpture that I chose to look at for this post is the one of Romeo and Juliet placed near the library on the Lee campus of the college I attend which is Florida SouthWestern State College. The title of the bronze sculpture is Romeo and Juliet, and it was made by sculptor Milton Hebald. The sculpture of Romeo and Juliet was unveiled in 1977 and cast the following year. This sculpture can also be found in front of the Delacorte Theater in Manhattan.
The subject of the sculpture is literature. The sculpture captures along with expresses its purpose because it is outside of the library as well as represents a well-known story in literature, the one of Romeo and Juliet, written by none other than William Shakespeare. The sculpture seems to stay about the community, that the majority of the population is on the younger side, along with something the community would deem important by showing the interest of the school in literature. The sculpture says that the values of the community socially are that they appreciate a good piece of literature, and it just so happens to be placed near the library, which could not be more fitting. The sculpture of Romeo and Juliet is a full round sculpture, and it interacts with its surroundings by being placed in the middle of an open-air passageway with beautiful gardening surrounding it, showing as if the couple are entirely swooned by each other as well as unbothered by their surroundings.

Abstract Images
The painting that stood out to me the most from the Metropolitan Museum of New York's collection of abstract art was Natvar Bhavsar's painting Dhruva I (1976). In this painting, you see beautiful orange alongside hues of yellow with some blue highlights resembling relatively happy colors. The painting does not show any three-dimensionality as well as there aren't any shapes that are defined; if you notice, the texture looks very smooth and gives a sort of serene feeling. The emotional content of this painting is happiness, joy, and serenity; nothing within the picture looks like it is out of place, whether by accident or on purpose; it seems as if everything is supposed to be right where it is. The painting elicits the feeling of sunset chasing in me. I am a person who loves sunsets, as they remind me to take a moment to appreciate the beautiful things in nature. Life is so busy, and sunsets remind me to slow down. Hence, I am able to enjoy something so simple yet extraordinary, like the sun setting and tomorrow being a new day with new opportunities. Therefore, the thing that drew me to this painting by Natvar Bhavsar was the colors as well as the way everything blends on the canvas, like how you would see the sky looking during sunset. What also drew me to choosing this specific painting was how I would feel if I were to have it somewhere in my home and the feeling of joy it would bring.

Representative Work
Tumblr media
My choice for a work of art that expresses my sensibility, my values, my taste, as well as my style. The work of art that I chose was a painting called Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. I think that the most important detail of this painting that is of importance to me is who painted it. There is no doubt that Vincent van Gogh went through a lot during the time he spent painting this painting, so I find it particularly remarkable that despite the mental challenges he created that beautiful piece of artwork. Among the things that I find most appealing about this piece of art is the texture of the painting; the lines are not symmetrical, as well as the fact that you can see that the artwork does not look smooth in any way, and you can't really see the "stars" per se because they look distorted. The reason this piece of artwork speaks to me is that it demonstrates the beauty of simplicity; it reminds me of the feeling you get when you look out of the window into the city at night, and you can see all the stars lighting up the sky. It also represents taking time to stop and appreciate small things because to notice something like that when you are out you have to slow down and take things slow and look up to see the stars. In my opinion, the work represents the possibility of something beautiful being created from within the midst of suffering and trials due to the fact that during that time Vincent van Gogh was facing some mental challenges.
