...well that was a heart-warming ending, with all the Titans reverting back to human form. I’m thinking about all those Colossal Titans who were made into a wall 100 years ago by King Karl Fritz and awakened just to stampede the earth and bring about mass destruction. They all get to revert back, too! ...100 years out of time. Now that all the family and friends they remember from their human lives have died of old age, leaving them with no one to come home to. And they get to live with the reality that they’ve just perpetrated genocide on 4/5 of the human race. 

So tell me, Mx. Ex-Colossal Titan, how are you feeling? Is it good to be back?

Any final predictions for the last chapter?

I’m gonna stick with “you are free” being Grisha and baby Eren. That’s the only thing I’m still semi-confident about.

Recording my Chapter 134 poll death predictions for posterity:

Onyankopon’s going down; Levi’s got one last thing to do and then he’s done. The rest are all titans, and I think they’re all going to have to die without heirs. And it sucks because I love Armin and Falco, but the narrative demands it. PATHS is going to end; OG Ymir will take back all the titans and then be reborn into Historia’s baby. That’s Mikasa holding it in the final panel and you can’t tell me otherwise. Calling it now. Let’s see how wrong I am. 😅

Why do birds suddenly appear?

I’m not surprised there could be a flying Beast Titan. Since the second opening, there’s been the suggestion that the Beast Titan could take many animal forms. Okay, I have to say that giving Falco access to Zeke’s memories and shoehorning Beast Titan abilities into the Jaw Titan felt a little ham-fisted and forced, but I also think Isayama always intended Falco to become a flying titan. 

His name is Falco. I mean, it’s right there.

How do you feel about Eren blowing up all the Colossal Titans in a cloud of pink smoke for Historia's gender reveal just for her to awkwardly tell him she was never pregnant? I mean it's a pretty Avant Garde, bittersweet ending but I can't believe all those people dying was a filler arc.

I get why people weren’t a fan of it, but I see it as the logical progression of Eren’s arc. He’s so desperate to do things for his friends that he’s forgotten about what they really want. Doing all this to celebrate a child that never existed? Oh yeah. That’s where we’re at. That’s where we’ve been at for a while.

All the filler deaths are majorly awkward, but that’s kind of in keeping with the theme, you know? A bunch of silly kids with too much power act without thinking, and things blow up.

I do think Isayama cheated a little by going with pink; we get it, that’s what the blood was for. Blue would have taken a lot more creativity.

Eren’s Dissocation

This month’s chapter has a lot of people confused on Eren’s actions. Why would Eren choose the worst option possible? Why force himself to do something he clearly doesn’t want to do? Why, when he’s given options to back out, does he instead double down on the bad decision making? Why, when no one is holding a gun to his head does he pick the worst available choice? 

The narrative obviously isn’t sympathizing with Eren so we’re meant to question his choices. So let’s get into Eren’s headspace. A place where clearly even Eren doesn’t want to be.
