question for you: i haven’t consumed the media relevant to your true north series (like to the point idek if this is a movie or show 😭) but i’m absolutely INTRIGUED by all the comments i see and also what i’ve peeked at myself already (not to mention your stellar writing skills).. do you, as the author, think i need to watch anything to read this fic?

I don’t think you need to watch Masters of the Air (on AppleTV) AT ALL to read True North. Bucky and his boys take on more of a backseat to Frank and the girls and their stories, and I think I’ve summarized enough that you would get an idea of the people and places. If anything, I would say you could find a trailer on YouTube just so you get a feel for Bucky and what he looks like 🤣

My True North readers, do you think this can be read without seeing the show?

So... are we going to have another encounter between Bucky's Boys and Frank the morning after this chapter? Is George spending the night there? I just can't wait for Buck to have to face Frank after seeing Bucky the night before and knowing something of what happened.

I don't know if she'll see all of Bucky's Boys in the morning, but she'll definitely see one or two of them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have Buck pick them up from the pub, and she may see another as she gets ready to leave.

George didn't stay the night! He dropped her off and then continued on with his regularly scheduled plans. I think he could tell Frank needed some comfort after her day and he's off to find his own now, hahahaha.

How long before Buck’s first mission? Will Stella be there?

I don’t think too much longer! I’m having trouble finding a date for when Buck and the boys arrive, Crosby mentions in his book that it’s the last week of May, but I didn’t have his book when I first started writing, so we’ll go with whatever source they used for the show and say they arrived in early June to keep the timeline accurate.

I think we’ll get to the first mission in the next few chapters! I need Bucky and Frank to be pretty solid by then, because we all know that things deteriorate quickly and once he’s no longer an Air Exec and is regularly going up, well…that’s a whole new ball game.

Frank isn’t there, as much as Bucky would want her to be. She doesn’t even know Buck went up until Buck calls her later that afternoon.

So Bucky respects competence.

Huglin isn’t a great flyer/pilot according to the show (incompetence) and Bucky already disliked him, but mow he put a formal warning in his girl’s file. (He doesn’t care as much about his own)

Bucky really doesn’t like him now.

Does Bucky at some point state his girl could fly circles around their CO?

He does! He very much does! He doesn’t have time for incompetence, because that could cost him his life or the lives of his boys, or even Frank’s.

Bucky doesn’t like Huglin, at all. Respects him as little as possible. And we should get some conversation about our CO next chapter between Bucky and his boys after his night and morning with Frank. As well as some warnings to ground crew. 😉
