I would like to remind everyone that it is canonical that ascended ancients can see what's happening on the mortal plane and that people with natural ancient genetics are distantly related to the ancients; thus making it entirely possible for those ancestors to be watching their descendants in a mixture of pride, bewilderment, and horror.

Carson's ancestor could be watching his mad science while trying to figure out if he's proud or doesn't want to take ownership of that one. John's ancestor is mentioned in the novels and is probably extremely proud of his dumbass descendant breaking rules like they're glow sticks. Somewhere is Lorne's ancestor who is honestly just really glad there's nothing too weird about this one. Jack's is probably face palming. A lot.

Omg same!! It makes it so much funnier in the SGA pilot when they’re dialing a random address and Rodney goes “Chevron one encoded” and Elizabeth just gives him the most WITHERING look like “this is one tradition we are NOT bringing to Pegasus”

Watching Stargate in the wrong order is actually really funny because- now that I’m going way back to watch SG-1, I noticed that they dial the DHD so…carefully.

Sometimes the chevrons get announced, sometimes they stand there panicking but still somehow manage to double check each symbol despite crazy shit happening all around them. Carefully careful dial!

(admittedly, it’s a wormhole, you might wanna be extra sure what you’re doing)

I watched Stargate Atlantis first; which is where Rodney McKay runs screaming to the DHD with an arrow in his ass, wildly slapping his hands on those same buttons like he was calling his mom from school- and that just makes so much more sense to me.

I have a confession. Despite being a huge SG1 fan, I never watched Stargate Atlantis.

But.... recently @elvenmother has been harassing me talking about it (and Joe Flanigan) non-stop so I thought, hey why not.

Oh no. Oh no you guys... he's hot. No one told me. No one warned me.

Like I needed another fictional guy to lust over. And this one's from a show that ended 16 years ago.

and of course this has reignited my Mitchell crush.

okay not the point of the post BUT 1) yes John does go through a whole bunch of shit in these years and get retraumatized but 2) John also grows into himself as a leader and part of a community over these years. In S1 he’s got more of the happy façade but that’s also right after Afghanistan, and he basically has no one. By S5, he has a family🥹
