i was in french class the other day (it was hellish, I love french, hate most of my class) and we were discussing insects
Specifically as problems in camping/similar outdoor setting
So we're discussing this and we get to the point where we're giving examples of insects (like des cafards, (cockroaches) for example)
And I suggested 'des papillons' (butterflies) and there was an outcry of 'how would these guys be a problem???'
But? I fail to see how the other insects would be a problem, because where I'm from 99% of the spiders are harmless, snails and slugs aren't going to do anything to you, same with millipedes/worms etc.
I feel like there's such a stigma around insects as a whole that butterflies have managed to avoid? They're like 'the good ones'?
It just seems very superficial to me. because moths are almost identical and have not recieved the same treatment? Other insects are just as harmless but are scorned, and other insects are just as important to pollination as butterflies are??
I will stop complaining now, but it is weird.
#bugs#french mentioned?#the world when butterflies: :D#the world when any other insect: D:#im just complaining atp.

getting back into writing :(
i haven't done any proper creative writing in about a year now, but i've really been itching to get back into it. does anyone have any tips on motivating myself to start a new project?
#id recommend to write about what you know#a scene about bugs or the view from your window#also! if youre stuck#changing styles is really good#it doesnt have to be dramatic changes but sometimes that helps#like for example#if you always write in 1st Person write in 3rd or vice versa#or change what youre writing completely#like prose -> poetry or#prose -> a play

exams are almost over (3 days of exams to go!!) I managed to find time to draw the sequel to the carpenter bee.
For context: I'm taking the common names of insects/bugs/crustaceans etc. and drawing them literally.
So the sequel:

(I cannot draw tigers)

>says I'll make a bug blog for bug/crustacean content
>doesn't actually post anything
I do have a solution however
A wonderful thing called the ability to draw (who cheered)
so I present:
a carpenter bee sketch (please click for better quality)

hopefully in a bit I'll get my things in order and actually start posting more but I'm currently in the middle of exams (2 weeks left).
All the best,
bogbug

the old reliable
The Hercules beetle

honourable mention ladybird (or ladybug, I'm British)

the beetle that started it all (random ladybird I saw when I was 4 and went, this is my personality now, thanks)
Tumblr I'm curious - what is your favourite beetle?

an intro post :)
hello I like bugs, that's about it that's what this blog will be
My guilty pleasure blog where I post about bugs and look at bugs (I should say insects but bugs is more general and funny)
Please call me bogbug here :)
My other blog is: @chaotickitchenware (mogmug)
Which is random stuff but mostly classics/my favourite book series
I draw, paint, sculpt, knit and crochet, so maybe this could be a bug craft blog also?
my favourite bugs are:
Slugs + Snails (a lot of the bugs we get in the UK)
Isopods but specifically woodlice (which I think are called Pill bugs elsewhere, not sure though)
Moths + Butterflies
Spiders (less heavy on this one, but they're still cool)
So yeah stick around if that sounds interesting to you.
