I’m really upset with our healthcare system. If you know me you know how huge of an advocate I am for patients and the care they receive as well as their families. We value money so much more over grief, heartache, stress and education. I’m exhausted to the core of my grandfather (multiple cancers and one kidney) continued to go septic and they treat him with antibiotics, pump him with more chemo and the process keeps repeating and it’s absolutely destroying my grandmother who herself almost died about a year ago. I want to throw up. They haven’t educated her on WHY it’s important to just let him go. And how it could save the family heartache and exhaustion. And in his right state of mind he wants to let go. But nah - that doesn’t fund the doctors pockets when he can milk every ounce of life out of my grandpa. And somehow tell my grandmother that this is the best decision for him. Hospice? Hasn’t event been mentioned.
