lecture overview
Reflecting upon INB182, I enjoyed some aspects of the unit. I found the content easy to understand and somewhat engaging, as I learned about design thinking, new and interesting designs.
I found that my own tutors were very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to building on designs.
i however did not enjoy the unit as i felt that it was someone repeatitive and the design process was completely led by the tutors. if we allowed to make 1 project without having to go throw the entire design project, i think we could have made something much more interesting. i feel the design process is limited

design project 2 youtube
made some templates for the 4 min youtube project today. i think our group is going for a movie trailer type thing to represent 2033 as it is a easy way to show something and we can go crazy with the thoughts of 2033 as it is a movie. the representation of 2033 will be scifi like robot invasion.

design project 1
We had many ideas for our flow design project. Our initial ideas where mazes made from bushes and river themed. Then we went to a tree idea which I got from the Singapore sky tree and that's how we decided to make the tree.

the other teams for design 1
the other teams for their dessgn flow was interesting. i found out that the other teams changed there design at the last stage. this was interesting.
the first team came up with a father and child monument which was in my idea somewhat uninteresting. i think the idea of the water coming down the ears of the child was interesting but lacking in appeal. the interesting design concept is that the the child and father represents time and the next generation, which i thought was deep and shows in the design of the monument.
the next team came up with a sandcloak which is hald in the ground. i also thought this idea was somewhat lacking in appeal. a sandcloak that doesnt move nor work planted into the ground diagnolly is uninteractive and boring. but the idea about the time was interesting. i do think it lacks appeal.

flow
we had to describe and put words that we think that would go with the concept flow. we mind mapped the word flow and went in all sort of directions. this is the mind map. we werent given any direction as to where we should go with this mind map and is interesting to see what all of the team come up with. this is my mind map.

Dear Esther
I havent played Dear Esther but ive watched acouple of game walkthroughs and review which made me realise that the concept of gaming which i knew wasnt all that there is to a game. I think that Dear Esther lacks conventional gaming interactivity but kinda of reminded me of skyrim for the visual content with no fighting or minecraft on someone elses server trying not to touch or destroy but just check out the landscape. it did make me feel like i was in a story book.
It definately did make me think twice about what a game can do. A new concept in which adding a poem with a beautiful visual landscape which then makes me ask, is it really a game?
i would definately think that it is a game as a game isnt all about shooting zombies and solving puzzles but more of a distraction in which you can waste time. I think Dear Esther explores gaming concepts and does the job for kill time.

the water trick
I didnt understand the water trick at first glace. I didnt recognise it as a joke and didnt know why that was on the board. Then i realised that it was a joke based on the fact that water cant sustain its shape like in the picture. thats when i realised it was a joke. surprisingly i found it amusing when i realised because i remember a old joke my friend told me which was "wana see this cup of water go upsidedown?" and he literally picked up the cup and moved it up, then to the side, then down.
To think up of a joke like that needed a different way of thinking which i thought was interestingn as most people would think of it as a joke.
