ok so. i don’t know when i’ll post again. so to hold y’all over i’m showing sketches that i never posted

it’s not much and i don’t expect this to take off but i just want it out there

JUST A HEADS UP some of these are old and u can tell by how weirdly drawn it is some were done when i was still trying to get the hang of drawing them

alright putting context for each of the doodles in order under the cut!!!

1 - drew big dimple for class. basically my teacher gave us prompts and we could pic any one and go ham with it and do whatever we want!! i chose anatomy cuz if u think about it dimple’s rlly huge n buff soooooo that counts as anatomy

2 - doodle from october i don’t remember posting about?? if i have then pretend this is the first time you’re seeing it

3 and 4 - had an INCREDIBLY self indulgent idea where reigen teaches dimple to dance!!! i don’t know why dimple would want to but i just want an excuse to imagine them dancing together okay 😭😭😭 i don’t think reigen is excellent at dancing but decent enough to teach and i just WANT THEM to start off sloppy with their dances but over time with these lessons they get more in sync and one night in the office they do a slow dance and there’s a lot of romantic tension in the air dimple dips reigen and reigen pulls his face closer to his and their lips almost touch before reigen gently pushes him away red in the face murmuring how he’s getting better at this and dimple is ALSO red in the face (and this is pre-relationship too 💙💙💙💙)

5 - ekurei but they’re on a kiddie writing pad

6 - this one is also so self indulgent me and payton were listening to red flags by tom cardy one night and wanted to connect it to ekurei so BADLY and we had the idea dimple’s “red flag” is how he’s so obsessed with god and religion and wanting to become god

I also like the idea that Ekubo don't really have a problem with expressing his feelings, because in canon he's VERY vocal about his emotions and thoughts (even when he tries to be sneaky and manipulate both of Kageyama brothers, it's not hard to guess what's going on, "Let me use your body for a little", yeah, yeah, Ekubo, we get it). So I think it's possible that when he gets really comfortable around Reigen (and when they are alone), he will express his feelings and care (sometimes in the cringiest way possible, either on purpose or just because he's, well, Ekubo). Idk, I just adore it when Ekubo is madly in love and being all lovey-dovey...

But I also LOVE nonverbal, timid Ekubo who struggles, but tries, really tries to be human and be there for Reigen in a way he never did before.

And you know what? I think Ekubo can be both, depending on how he's feeling in a particular period of time. He has a lot of trauma and (centuries of) difficult past, and that tends to affect people. He's a complex character and his experience with romantic feelings is a very interesting topic to explore.

Thank you, OP, for this take!! We need to draw more attention to small form Ekubo 😌😌 (I'll join you in going insane about him if you don't mind)

Late night rambling as much as I ADORE dimple’s true form showing affection towards reigen I think him in his smaller form showing affection towards reigen is underrated. the amount of love in dimple just resting on reigen’s shoulder while he types away and taking so much courage to work up the energy to peck his cheek before zooming away is TOP TIER.

I like to think dimple has a hard time voicing how he truly feels or how much he cares and loves reigen so he conveys it through physical touch.. even that requires a lot of courage. simply just resting on reigen’s head or shoulder is a lot for dimple to do, and reigen knows it!!!!!!! and I don’t care what anyone says it warms his heart dimple is doing so much to show he truly cares and is trying his best LEAVE ME ALONE ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

What would happen if Reigen and Dimple stayed fused (possessed) for too long? Would they become dependent on each other that way?

I've thought about it! Okay so, basically:

When Dimple and Reigen first fuse (meaning, the instant they fuse, regardless of if it's their first time doing it or not) they are still two people in one head. They can communicate to eachother and can recognize which parts belong to who. Like how Dimple described it in an interview: like being in a car with two steering wheels.

For most people, Dimple forces himself in and takes control of the car- the other person cannot drive. But for some reason, with Reigen, they can both drive at the same time. THIS, HOWEVER, causes problems! Obviously! so if they wanna stay together they need to either:

a) let the other person drive

b) become one driver

and typically it goes to becoming one. This only happens if they stay together long enough to gradually meld OR if they need to be in sync (like in a perilous situation).

As they do it more and more it becomes easier as their souls are used to eachother. So they slip into becoming one person even without trying.

I think, though, this isn't what you asked... now that I'm rereading it lol SO to answer your question:

I think that Dimple and Reigen would become someone dependent- Reigen more so. They are both deeply lonely people who need others in their lives and their arcs reflect that (Reigen with Mob leaving, Dimple with the cult) AND who have self-acceptance issues (Reigen being a faker obvs and Dimple hiding behind being a simple evil spirit)

so the experience of becoming SOMEONE NEW who is SELF-ASSURED, NOT LONELY, and HAPPY... is really, really, hard to let go of.

They'll need to take a break eventually and find a healthy balance so they're not co-dependant.

I've seen many beautiful Ekurei arts that included security guard Ekubo. I usually enjoy them. But, to be honest... I don't really perceive this version of him as him. I see security guard Ekubo as a different character.

I have nothing against people who like and/or draw security guard Ekubo, there are many, MANY truly beautiful works that include him. But I wish there were more arts depicting Ekubo in his spirit form (both small and beefy), especially in a romantic context... It will always be my favourite version of Ekurei.

Reigen is more than capable of loving an unconventionally attractive evil spirit. And Ekubo deserves to be loved and accepted for who he is, without any additional bodies or anything.

One of my friends once said that the Broccoli arc went as it went mainly because the Ekubo-Mob-Reigen trio basically fell apart. Mob got carried away, Ekubo became completely obsessed with his desire for godly power, Reigen decided to turn his middle-schooler-apprentice into a cult leader… It turns out these three are quite dysfunctional when left on their own.

And now I have something to add: I think that if Ekubo had talked to Reigen instead of Mob (which, by the way, wouldn't be completely out of nowhere, because they formed a partnership during season 2), the whole arc would have been prevented. Ekubo and Reigen are mirrors for each other. Ekubo would have seen what Reigen was doing and understood how crazy that was. Reigen would have seen Ekubo and realised the same. (The basis of their relationship is that they are very similar, they see themselves in each other, and that leads to mutual hostility at first, but then it transforms into a very deep understanding).

They would have started arguing, both of them, most likely, still pursuing their own goals… But eventually they would have understood how dangerous the situation had become.

And Mob would have stopped them from getting too heated and going too far. And they’d have made up. And lived happily as two fathers and a son ever after.

And I think it's important to remember that they are a trio. They have a very balanced relationship as a trio. And it's beautiful!
