[ SOOTHE ]  in the midst of a tense moment,  receiver turns away to conceal their emotions but sender wraps their arms around them and holds them from behind. 

[ CLOSE ]  sender reaches out and pulls receiver into their lap as they’re walking by. 

[  STOP  ]  sender reaches out and takes receiver’s face into their hands,  drawing them away from what they’re doing so they can just look at receiver for a moment.  

[ GIVE ]  sender greets with receiver with a gift. 

[ BRING ]  sender takes receiver out for the day to pamper them. 

[ ATTENTION ]  sender peppers a series of caresses over receiver’s face in an attempt to make them laugh or smile. 

[ COAX ]  sender knows receiver has had a lot on their mind,  so they hold them for a while to help them relax and hopefully open up. 

[ CARESS ]   sender sits by quietly while receiver works,  petting their hair and simply providing company. 

[ RELAX ]  sender gives receiver a massage. 

[ LOOK ]  for receiver to catch sender gazing adoringly at them.

it's a beautiful day for a baseball game , ben has said so a million times since they've got there . it helps that the brooklyn dodgers are up in the sixth inning . truthfully , she's gotten a little more into it than she expects , having to be calmed down multiple times after some questionable calls by the umpire . she's not focused , really , on the game right now though , she's tracking franklin out of the corner of her eye behind her sunglasses . trying to give him the freedom to bring back their food even with a pit of dread in her stomach that she thinks all mothers get when their children leave their sight . ❛ oh , hey , honey ! ❜ she's already starting to stand when he finds his way back to their seats , pushing herself up so that she can take two of the hot dogs so he can get back to his seat in the middle of them. ❛ oh - uh - well , that's okay , thank you for getting us our food ! these look delicious , babe , uncle johnny was just saying how hungry he was . ❜ next time , they'll talk about the money thing before she gives him the only bill in her purse .

franklin feels very grown up, weaving his way through the other baseball fans. he didn't have to go very far, just up to where the hot dog man was and back. but, he was allowed to go by himself! with big money. his hat keeps slipping and blocking his view, but his arms are full of hot dogs ( at least one for every member of the family ) so he can't really fix it. he finds their seats by his mom's shoes, instead of her face. "i got 'em," he tells her. "but i didn't get any change."

sue has spent the better part of the their relationship coming to terms with the fact that she will never fully know or understand the trillion different calculations & outcomes reed processes in one day . because there are at least a million for every single decision he makes big and small . from what to eat for breakfast to the exact angle he needs everyone to be to bring down whatever alien slash monster slash villain has decided to invade their home . she struggles with it , sometimes , when in the greater scheme of things while all of that assessment is being done in that huge brain of his , things get lost . things don’t make it into the equation - feelings , even if they don’t necessarily align with what , in the end , needs to be done . & he tries his hardest , she knows he does , even if he fails . it only affirms , even just the trying , even if they’ve already fought & it hasn’t even crossed his mind to throw his intelligence in her face , that they can & will overcome anything . she smiles up at him from her book from her place on the couch , his shoulders heavy with the weight of the world as it so often is . she sets her book aside & holds her arms out towards him . ❛ c’mere , babe . i think that as two very smart , very qualified adults i’m sure we could find something to do that doesn’t require much thinking at all . ❜

brows raise , a slight smile ticking up the edges of her lips as she catches her breath & she resists the urge to glance back at the now destroyed building behind them . & it's not that she doubts that he had it under control , johnny is extremely capable , johnny is fantastic at what he does . but johnny is also , still & forever , her baby brother , the first person she held in her heart in a way no one but franklin has yet to . which means that whether he's seven or thirty-seven , it's her job to be there for him - even when he think he doesn't need her to , even when he has it under control . ❛ got it , next time , i'll let the building fall on you . let's go ! ❜
