Finally the response to that ask I received the other day, about how they transitioned from friends to an actual relationship (thank you for your incredibly sweet comments by the way! <3)

In a nutshell, I think it had a lot of ups and downs and starts and stops. That things would seem to sync into place as easily as breathing, but then one or both of them would fumble something so hard they wondered how it might ever work at all. I think it’s easy for forget that by the end of the trilogy, they’ve really only spent a matter of… days?? together. They have this incredibly deep bond that’s nearly impossible to quantify with just words … but they also haven’t spent any appreciable amount of time with each other since they were literal children. I think it was difficult to adjust to the reality of a relationship, and not just immense, constant tension.

I believe that when you fall in love, you make an active choice to be with your partner, and that love isn’t always easy, but it’s something that each party must continually strive toward. While it might have been a bumpy road, neither is willing to give up on the other.

Though Phoenix adopting a little girl within about two weeks of this comic definitely threw a wrench in the entire thing.
