--- He knew her all too well. It pained her to have lied to him, he who she loved so dearly, who understood her the most. Yet truth seemed as if it might be more painful. How was she to tell him she had been considering a visit to elven lands, curiosity at last reaching her. Her mother's wanderlust was affecting her, as well as stories of the Greenwood, of the mountains, the sea.
She wanted to see these wonders for herself, and yet she was still undecided. So when her father had inquired after her thoughts, she'd told him very little, unwilling to share while she still was unsure. The world was vast and dangerous, and even though he was surrounded by his children, Esteliel knew there was a possibility he might worry for her.
"Goheno nin, ada . . ." She sighed, toying with her hair. An inherited tick of concentrated thought, focusing for a moment upon the strands around her finger. "I suppose I should know better than to hide from you, but I am wary to mention anything until I am sure. " soft courage found, she looked into his eyes with a sparkle in her own which requested understanding. Her hand reached out to his, grounding her thoughts and putting them into words.
"I have heard so many stories of the world out there, and I think at last some latent curiosity has left its mark upon me. I want to see something of it, but I am. . . uncertain. It might not be whatever it is I have imagined." A pause head tilted as she considered further. "As I so heavily lean upon your wisdom, I think perhaps I have been remiss not to have come to you sooner. What do you think?"

HIS MOUTH TASTED LIKE ASH AND IRON UNBECOMING OF A MAN BEING OF HIS STATURE. FOLLY BE HIS DEALINGS IN ANCIENT LINES OF KINGS, AND SHIPS ADRIFT . . . however, all things happen as they must. PLANS ENACTED, AND HAVING BROUGHT HIM FURTHER FROM REVENGE. revenge that now parches his tacky throat, AND CLASPS SUCH TO THE DIRT. GRIME LADEN FACEAMUSED AS IT LOLLS WITHIN THE EARTH BELOW.
HE KNOWS SHE SEES. CAN SENSE IT IN HER EYES, EVEN AS THE TANG OF BLACKENED BLOOD MADE RED TO THE EYE, COATS HIS TASTE BUDS. something he had not anticipated. AND YET, WHETHER OR NOT SHE WOULD TELL HER FATHER NOW LIES ENTIRELY UPON HIS OWN SHOULDERS. A FATHER HE IS QUITE CONVINCED MUST FEEL SUCH COSMIC CONNECTION. resting upon whether or not he could pull her into his fray. YES, HE WISHES TO CONSUME HER. but is she willing? IF HE COULD PLANT ROOTS IN THOSE CLOSEST TO ADAR, --- THE MERE THOUGHT ALONE, IS TITILLATING. fills him to brim with darkened excitement, bred of his RELATION TO THE SHADOW.
hie eyes narrow, CONTINUING TO SMILE IN AMUSEMENT. "and why is that, then? because your father says so?" HE STUDIES HER, WETTING DIRTIED LIPS AGAIN. inhaling. "clearly i have yet to earn his trust. unless, -- this is what trust looks like, amongst the orcs." ACCENTED VOICE MUSES, bringing hand upward to rattle chain at his neck with bandaged hand. CLEARING HIS THROAT WITH A WIGGLE IN SEARCH OF COMFORT. "tell me. how am i to earn it without opportunity?"
His smile unnerves her, the unending feeling of being prey in the eyes of a hunter giving her the desire to run. Yet, she is rooted where she is, grateful for the chains which bind him, if only to give a false sense of security that if she walked away he would not be able to follow. Still beneath his gaze she felt stripped of what few armaments she possessed.
Teeth dug into the inside of her lip, trying to retain her ground she stood upon, the brightness of his flames too much for her comfort. She felt the urge to go forward to see if she could feel its warmth, to reach out and touch him. A scolding thought followed, and she clasped her hands together in front of her. "My father has nothing to do with it, though I trust his judgement concerning you. He is older, wiser, and familiar with the mazes of this world." She was grateful that her voice did not betray her inner turmoil. "But it is more than he, there are others who have taught me caution." and his very being seemed to scream for her need of it. Motherly words of carefulness whispering softly in her mind.
"As for you earning trust," she eyed the chains at his neck, wondering what it was he wanted. A being such as he chained seemed incongruent with what she could see. . . he could release himself if he wanted, could he not? "that is no decision of mine. Perhaps you shall earn it in humility? bending to its weight might do you good. If that is possible."

--- Fire and shadow licked in her mind, painting across his fair form an image which frightened her. The unseen world clung to his shape, ill fitted in the skin he wore, a writhing mass that she could not put into words. She looked at him head on, yet expressionless, wondering what it was that others saw. They talked to him as if he were a man--living, breathing flesh, with dying soul that soon would be spirited away forever. There was nothing dying in what she saw. Dimming, perhaps, his fire burned hotly, but the shadows wreathed him, making the fire flicker. There and yet not. Consumed and consuming.
And it desired to consume her. The darkness within the very core of her being sang in discordant melody, which had been her first sign of the wrongness within him. She hated the thoughts which came when he came near. The way her fingers tensed and curled with the desire to sink her nails into something, and how her tongue skimmed her teeth testing their sharpness. His very presence filled her lungs and threatened to drown her. Avoidance had been her best option.
Yet, she knew that even if she spoke of what she saw, his persona of utter mortality would make her be unbelieved. Well, some might, those she did indeed 'trust' and who trusted her, but most of all kinds seemed far too enamored to listen to her small voice. Like a pebble in a well, swallowed in ripples and echoes.
"You have done nothing to earn it." Her soft voice rolled out out, half whisper half sound. "What purpose would you have for my trust, when you have attained the trust of those most important? I have no purpose to you, and you have no purpose to me."

---An accident had landed Esteliel here, a stray arrow which had missed a target, and bad timing on her behalf which had ended with the arrow in her shoulder. It could have been worse, much worse, and it hadn't been the Urukling's fault she'd happened by just at that moment. He had needed training, and had missed, as most children were capable of doing. Still too young to keep his hands steady for any extended period of time. It could have happened to anyone.
Deep breaths kept her steady as she waited for her father to arrive, having lain herself upon her bed to keep still. Relief was in her eyes and she offered a small, tense smile upon seeing him. All would be perfectly alright. Bravery was painted upon her face, a tranquility in spite of pain . . . though gritted teeth beneath her lips betrayed a little of the truth. Still she nodded once and did as her father required, and she pushed herself to sitting on one hand with no complaint. Heavy breath hissed through parted lips. One . . . two . . . three . . .
" I assume you've been informed what happened, ada. " she said, voice set at a level tone of moderation. " was the child at least able to get back to his lesson? " Mirrored eyes looked into his, seeking at least some comfort on the subject. There was more, though, a desire to establish that all was well. More still, there was a promise in her eyes. This had been her mistake, she would not repeat it.

If they had a kid... feat. Adar & Aredhel - @uruuk

NAME: Irímeldë , desired beloved / Esteliel , daughter of hope
GENDER: female
GENERAL APPEARANCE: eyes of ice blue, with long waves of dark hair, she appears more elven upon first glance. but there is a paleness to her skin, more grey in tone, and her blood runs darker in her veins. resemblance to both of her parents are most obvious in her eyes and mouth--her father's eyes, a little sad, clever, yet holding a softness which is already too tired with the world; her mothers mouth, keen to laughter and slightly cockeyed.
PERSONALITY: slow to speak, but gentle, she is adventurous and strong willed. perceptive, and curious. she trusts slowly, but is both genuine and earnest, desiring to find exactly where she may belong in the world. she knows her parentage is seen with suspicion by both sides, for elves do not know whether to trust her, and uruk see her far too elven to call kin. still, she is compassionate, and seeks understanding for call whom she comes across. for her father's love has taught her that not all things are so divided into black or white.
SPECIAL TALENTS: she walks too closely the path amidst the unseen world, seeing specters in nights of cold reverie. from her mother she has learned osanwë, or the talent of minds, reading and speaking to them through thought and desire. she has also learned the skills of hunting and fighting, too beloved by both her parents to be ignorant in either. a skilled horsewoman, and favoring archery to the blade. ( if her brother is involved, she also has learned some enchantment, which she uses like him, to move about more freely. ) she is also well versed in poetry and various elven scholars and tacticians, compliments of her father's knowledge, and his quoting of it.
WHO THEY LIKE BETTER: favorites are for fools, and she would hide behind that sentiment. she loves both her parents dearly. after all, how can she choose when she has been so loved?
WHO THEY TAKE AFTER MORE: in many ways she is most like her father in her patience, extreme tolerance of certain things, and dedication to whatever she believes she must do. in others she is her mothers daughter, blunt and capable of passionate outbursts, stubborn to a fault at times. she too values her freedom, hearing stories from both her parents of the pitfalls of deception and captivity. from them both, however, she has learned a longing for 'home' . . . whatever that means.
PERSONAL HEADCANON: there is a darkness within her, which she hides from the world that only her father fully understands. in quiet moments all alone she can feel it gnawing at her spirit, and as a result she avoids killing if she can help it, afraid of that side of her. afraid of the bloodlust which haunts the uruk.
FACECLAIM: Synnove Karlsen
