That would do. Mediocre but enough. Probably someone like his target wouldn’t be hired in anything more luxurious. Yet, it was luxurious enough to encounter customers. 

Gilgamesh had chosen a table in the far corner where the dim lights had that reddish tint which made the heavy gold of his jewels even brighter, yet ominous as if cursed. 

And there he waited for that blue hair to pass by, serving other customers. HIs eyes were narrowed, staring directly at Cú’s back, the unsettling feeling someone aimed a bullet with his name. 

Probably he would perceive it, he was said to have keen senses, a true professional in his job. He wouldn’t have survived long enough to earn a reputation if the rumors weren’t true. 

But for now, Gilgamesh was a mere customer waiting for his waiter.

He had to admit to himself that taking a job in a place like this wasn’t usually his speed. Cafés weren’t anything new to him---he’d worked at plenty in the past. But serving the so-called elite in Golden was never where he really wanted to be, simply because of the way they tended to look down on the masses. If it weren’t for the fact that a friend had come practically begging for a fill, he wouldn’t have thought about it at all. 

But he always had a soft spot for people he knew, so he’d been spending the past few weeks pasting on a smile and good subservient demeanor, even when he knew it was the last thing the people on the receiving end deserved. Ultimately, it wasn’t up to him to determine things like that. He just had to keep them happy.

Everything was actually going pretty well that day, all things considered. He’d managed to charm his way out of a few hairier situations and tips had been better than average. Of course, that had been before this guy walked in.

He’d been leering at him like a predator ever since he’d sat down. He’d seen him out of the corner of his eye as he passed by to help his other tables and he hoped he’d been wrong about what he sensed, but as the moments ticked by and he felt an unsubtle pressure on his back, he knew something was up.

It wasn’t often he was sought out, especially in a place like this. And especially not by someone who so clearly screamed trouble.

“Welcome to Recluse, sir,” Cu said with a bow and a fleeting business-like glance. “How can I be of assistance?”

“I have appearances to keep, sadly. Be around too often and someone might get suspicious.” She laughed softly, rolling her drink glass around idly in hand. Funny he should mention her scarcity, when he himself was just as elusive.”You’re one to talk, you sure you’re not hiding from me?”

“C’mon, now. You know all you have to do is call my name and I’ll be at your side.”

He tossed her a wink before signalling to the barkeep to get him his usual. It honestly had been a long time since he’d wandered in, but everyone here knew him well enough that he wasn’t soon forgotten.

“But you’re not the only one keepin’ busy. Little jobs during the day, bigger ones at night. It’s hard bein’ a working man these days. Hardly any time for the finer things in life... like spendin’ some time with a pretty lady. But here you are, so I guess my luck’s finally turnin’ around.”
