Stories I'll Write One Day :: Superboy and the Invisible Girl
Comic readers first met Connie Kent in Superman #1 (1939) alongside the first appearance of Clark Kent's adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha. Initially unnamed and marginally featured, 1948's Superman #53 established the young girl seen in the backgrounds of various comic panels as Constance Judith Kent, Clark's adoptive sister. While writers will often modify her age, making her older or younger than Clark to fit the needs of the story, she has consistently never been given powers like her brother. In most of her appearances, Connie is a bright, tenacious girl with dreams of leaving the family farm and embracing life in the city. There is an underlying theme of jealousy in most of her storylines. While she loves her brother, she finds it at times difficult to live in his shadow as he begins to develop his powers and becomes Superman. Connie has appeared in a number of animated and live action Superman adaptations, including Smallville (2001, played by Katie Holmes) and the CW's Arrow (2012) and its subsequent connected universe of spin-offs (played by Maude Apatow). The Zack Snyder-directed Man of Steel (2011) stirred up controversy when it was announced that Connie would not be part of the story. The film faced fierce backlash on social media for the decision, with many fans citing Connie Kent as one of DC Comics' most progressive characters for her time. In response, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) gave the character a nod with Constance "CJ" Johnson (Jennifer Connelly), a childhood friend and confidant of Clark's who, knowing his secret identity, comes to Superman's funeral; CJ enjoyed a larger role in the 2017 sequel Justice League. Most recently, Margaret Qualley brought Connie Kent to life in James Gunn's Superman (2025), back in her role as Clark's caring older sister. Working as a photographer for The Daily Planet, Connie stands by Clark through the truth about his birth parents' final message, the turning tides of public opinion, and the fight to save their home and prove his benevolent intentions.
I blame @juliaswickcrs for this entirely (and I love her for it)

oops another oc :: sybil "billie" barnes ( superman )
Three years before the invasion of Jarhanpur, Clark Kent moved to Metropolis. Freshly graduated and looking to make a difference, he joins the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. The latter of whom he befriends immediately while the former singles him out as her rival. Three months before the first appearance of Superman, a rogue metahuman unleashes a small earthquake in downtown Metropolis, leveling a building and killing several civilians in its wake. She is promptly arrested and charged, and the world does not know how to react when more begin to pop up in the city. Three weeks after Superman's first appearance, Lois Lane makes the front page, Lex Luthor sponsors STAR Labs' research into Metahumans, and Clark is assigned to cover the ongoing legal battle between the city of Metropolis and the girl who destroyed a city block. Three days before the trial is set to begin, Billie Barnes--the assistant legal counsel for the defense--moves in next door to Clark Kent.

saw an elderly woman walking around with a tote bag whose design were the four AO3 fic category squares and she very excitedly asked if i was a reader or a writer bcs nobody else at the con had recognized it, and after telling her that i've been writing fic since fanfic.net, she solemnly nodded and explained that she'd been reading fic since "the days of personal websites" but that she only started writing fanfic when she was 47 and oh my god when i tell you that i genuinely teared up on the spot!!!!! like!!! HELL YEAH???? LITERALLY NEVER TOO OLD TO START WRITING. NEVER TOO OLD TO WRITE AND SHARE YOUR FIC.
her enthusiastic "i'm a very nice and bubbly person, i swear! but i love writing angst and major character death :)" nearly took me the fuck out.
icon. legend. diva. i wish her nothing but a kajillion million comments and kudos. i hope her fic updates crash AO3. i hope she knows i'm promoting her to my personal patron saint of AO3.

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

accidentally spent about 7 hours hyperfocused on clearing out OC content from my Google Photos and saving it all to my external hard drive. i made good progress but would NOT recommend staring at a screen for that long with virtually no breaks
