Being in a toxic relationship is weird— breaking out of one is weirder. You worked so hard to get yourself out of a relationship that wasn't meant for you. Self-improvement, accepting yourself for who you are, trying to be the best image. Yet all that crumbled down because of the foundation you built.

You became the best version of yourself not because you believed you truly would become said version. It was to be an image that would attract him back. That foundation was to 'get over him.'

You swore to your friends you'd never be caught with anything that was acquainted with him. You tried to forget about him, to forgive yourself. But that got shut down. He never let you forget.

He was everywhere, you subconsciously searched for him and he was there. So what were you doing? Not at the gym, but on his couch? Why were you two having sex? Something that's supposed to be the most intimate connection a human could have?

He took everything from you. Your souls were bound to be connected— it was no kidding. You thought you two had everything the moment he took your virginity and you took his.

And there you were again, where you both started. It was strange— it didn't feel like lust. It felt like true yearning, his soul, his spirit begging to fuse with yours again. Just one more time.

All those promises you've made, saying that you wanted him less and he wasn't relevant was nothing but fraud. You weren't being truthful to yourself. You weren't being truthful to anyone. Most importantly, you weren't truthful to your heart.

You waited for him to fall asleep, confirming he was unconscious. You made a call— speaking ever so quietly, burning with determination. "Could you book me a flight out of this town? I'm genuinely coming back like a revolving door..."
