being anti-divorce is so fucking bonkers to me like yeah i think you're morally obligated to stay with some shithead who you hate forever. this is a normal and healthy thing to believe. let's have kids together and force them to grow up being raised by two people who hate each other. yeah this might fuck them up mentally during the most formative years of their life but it's the morally righteous thing to do. if there's one thing god loves it's traumatized children. i'm getting into heaven for sure

at base i just think "women are more prone to mysticism and magical thinking due to their fundamental and irreconcilable soul differences from men, which is why astrology is inherently female-coded" is a much more overtly misogynistic thing to argue than "astrology is a noxious pseudoscience" could ever be

the thing is if you dont understand transmisogyny as a social force and a specific bias that you have, your radical queer philosophy will end up finding an excuse for why you dont like tgirls that much.

'you are not immune to propaganda' is true but sometimes the way people deploy this particular soundbite reveals a complete unwillingness to attribute any agency or ideology to people who espouse some pretty heinous bigotry.
like there was a post going around recently talking about people whose parents became increasingly radicalized by fox news and it had one of those tumblr style comments on it along the lines of "REMEMBER! THIS COULD BE YOU! You are not immune to propaganda either. STAY VIGILANT" and the implication here is always that right wing radicalization is something that somehow happens to otherwise pleasant people without their consent or knowledge. But perhaps some of you guys just need to grapple with the fact that your parents might be more bigoted and reactionary than you want to believe.
nobody is immune to bad information ecosystems or groupthink or poor science or anything else that makes radicalization possible, but i do think the idea that anyone is just a bad news pipeline away from supporting white supremacy does a lot to let white supremacists off the hook. it's the same kind of line of thought that gets people to talk about how bad things in fiction shouldn't be 'romanticized'. its a kind of worldview that operates under the implicit belief that a human being is a vessel being uncritically filled with whatever you pour into it and does nothing to grapple with what the actual appeal of these far right talking points is to the sort of otherwise ""normal"" seeming people that can be sold on them.

Armand and Marius always make me think of a few songs, too
Almost Human, by Voltaire, Feel Better, by Penelope Scott, and Rejoice, by AJJ.

I'm thinking about the Astral Express and how the voice lines of the Nameless imply that they've had some honest heart-to-hearts with Sunday, and with each other about Sunday. There's something about their dialogue that touches on a sense of intimacy and support. And it's all the more notable for the painful way Penacony played out; there's an eagerness on both sides to begin anew.
We saw Welt and Sunday develop an unexpected bond and come to form a friendship over the course of 2.7, so it seems fitting that we begin with Welt:
Himeko's lines, both about Sunday and to him:
Dan Heng's:
March 7th's:
And the lines for Stelle/Caelus:
And of course, here's Sunday's corresponding lines:
Taken together, all of this dialogue gives me the sense that ... the Express and Sunday spent quite a lot of time just spending time with each other, enough that there's no resentment, fear, or anger in these lines. This dialogue is supportive, affirming, and appreciative: March calls Sunday cool! Himeko's dialogue has adopted the parental tone she has for the other youngsters, a far cry from warning Sunday that he has made an enemy of them all. Dan Heng and Sunday must have shared words about Dan Heng's past and even some of his feelings regarding Dan Feng, because Sunday's dialogue is a gesture of comfort and reassurance, the sense of I know something of what you have been through.
They all bring up, over and over again, qualities they admire about each other: for Sunday, March's ideas are brilliant, and Welt is heroic. For Dan Heng and Welt, Sunday's conviction and resolve is admirable. Even when March references the conflict in Penacony, it's in a teasing, humorous way.
They draw on common ground to establish declarations of camaraderie: Sunday calls Welt and himself fellow pathstriders, Welt calls Sunday and himself companions, Dan Heng and Sunday talk about our travels, our journey, and Himeko assures Sunday of the road ahead of us.
It expresses a true sense of enthusiastic and hopeful welcome for Sunday, and Sunday's clear gratitude and relief to be so accepted. Everyone seems genuinely glad that Sunday is on the Express, and Sunday is clearly touched to have received their forgiveness, charity, and welcome. Though the Trailblazer gets the option to reject Sunday personally, it's a clear contrast to the open arms of the rest of the Express.
And for Sunday, a character marked for so long by his pessimism, his isolation, his fear, and his inability to move beyond his past tragedies, this is the culmination of so much hardship and soul-searching. He reached out to the Express on Penacony in an effort to try to understand and be understood, and this is where that path has taken him: into the company of friends.
Sure hope nothing bad happens during the rest of Amphoreus.

me, every single time i see people (especially women) talking about the divine feminine energy, or the sacredness of the womb or whatever it is now:

[image description: a two-panel photo of a person dialling a number and then placing the phone to their ear. the contact is saved as ‘Ursula K. Le Guin’ /end ID]
context is this quote by her:
But I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?

today is Disability Day of Mourning, a day when we are to commemorate disabled people who are killed at the hands of their family and/or caregivers. there's so much i could say about it, but mostly i just want people to keep these victims in mind today. here's a webpage that acts as a memorial to these victims and a source for information on the topic. if you can, try to take a moment today to think about these victims and just generally keep them in your heart, they deserve that much.

Another WIP check in! So at this stage, I've blocked out the highlights and the rough impressions of the shadows, and I've gotten the flat colours down. Everything is still super rough, as you can see, and there's quite a bit of work left to be done. Still, I've managed to tidy up most of the line art as I've gone along and I've redone a few small sections that ended up looking wonky to my eyes.
I'll start adding in some background/ambient details soon, now that I've gotten a solid feel for where the lighting is coming from.
We're far from finished, but he's is getting there!
