honestly adults need to stop berating teenagers for their angst. when you’re 14-18 years old it feels like your existence is nothing and everything at the same time. yea yea you haven’t been met with life’s real responsibilities (getting a job , maintaining a family etc etc), but you’re not entirely absolved of them. you’re being told to “enjoy being young” but at the same time develop your character to prepare yourself for adulthood. it’s a liminal period and that’s what makes it feel so unstable. it’s all just so ambiguous and disorienting it’s natural to feel lost. you’re told of so many rites of passages to come yet none of them give you the freedom you want. to be free from this awkward threshold instead of feeling like a ghost, floating half alive half dead, and feel your feet touch solid ground.
