It was all Isaac could do to be patient, to wait for Alex's response instead of getting the party started without her. But he knew his headspace, and he needed a buddy tonight. Someone to pull him back if he got in too deep, keep him from falling into the void. In the meantime he checked in with a few of his mortal contacts in the off chance one of them was willing to serve as a human syringe for the evening. As soon as Alex replied, he began typing.

He felt, more than heard, the song to which Alex referred, rhythm coursing through his veins along with the borrowed drugs. Despite leaving him with heightened senses, his condition had the unfortunate side effect of dulling his enjoyment of them. The intensifying high in his system was a welcome relief as he let himself get truly lost in the music. He was all too happy to allow Alex to drag him deeper into the fray, each warm press of flesh against his body adding to his euphoria.

Unable to resist, he leaned in as she reached up to touch his cheek. It wasn’t until she pulled away that he caught a glimpse of crimson on her thumb. He smiled sheepishly at her - it was hard to truly feel guilty on ecstasy, but he was indeed grateful she did not make much of the issue. Impulsively, he grasped her hand and flicked his tongue across the tip of her thumb.

Isaac grinned as Alex took the pill, happy to watch her enjoy the simple pleasures of being alive. For his part, he would need the help of someone else to enjoy the effects of the drug. Picking a participant was easy - the idiot who had incurred Alex’s wrath was still hanging around the edge of the dance floor. He went to the bar, ordered a drink, and slipped the pills into it. He brought it to his target and offered it up, saying it was an apology from Alex for her temper.

The ploy worked, and soon Isaac had the fool pressed against the dumpster, neck between his teeth. He left his victim alive, using a bit of blood to patch him up. He doubted a drugged up anemic in an alleyway would draw much suspicion in this part of town, anyway.

By the time he rejoined Alex, she was in the full grip of the drug. The sound of her laughter was enthralling, and she placed her hands on his face just as the ecstasy began affecting him. He smiled at her compliment and responded with a shouted “Shut up and dance with me!”

At some point in being a denizen of the Secret Magical Underground, you just get used to macabre things. Despite the giddy-floaty-bubbly state of her brain, she registered Isaac slinking off to the alley while she bopped along to the music. Should she have some kind of moral concern about him snacking on some rando? It was hard to feel concerned about anything at the moment. Plus she liked Isaac, genuinely and even when sober (rare as sobriety was when they were together). Morality’s all a grey area anyway. 

“Yes! I love this song,” she half-shouted over the noise when he’d returned, grabbing Isaac’s hand to pull him further into the gyrating crowd on the dance floor. Was that a speck of blood on his cheek? It was easy enough to smear away with a swipe of her thumb; evidence of dark deeds erased. Hey, vampires gotta eat, too.
