Tonight the world lays quietly. Like covered ears. The screams exist, even when you can’t hear them they blare. Mute. Avoidant. unreachable. This is of course momentary. The cusp. The cupping kind lives in limbo. Constantly waiting. Frozen until the beast lays dead beneath him. The heart can rest and things would go on. Until then. The cupping king sat looking out the window always waiting the day to see the carriages, the army, the men, giants and drakes. Pulling ropes thick with chains and shackles. Dead weight. Victory alas. Until then.
Rest doesn’t exist
The village hangs onto uncertainty. They’ve only known this limbo. This frail state of the cupping king left him an alarmist to the people. His words are strong. Never forget the destruction. Never forget the pain. Never stop fighting. Never let your guard down. Vitality is at risk. Survival.
The heart beats again once more he hears the slight humming. The irregular sound that has only happened once before. Only when the beast is near.
Tonight the world laid quietly.

To be the cupping king has always meant one thing and one thing only. Fear the beast. Study the beast. Devour the hope of the beast so that it never gets the urge to threaten you again. The king is a high target. Possessing the heart is not a task that comes with a cake walk. Certainty of the heart is vital to the kingdoms survival. Vital to the cupping kings survival. Legacy, it’s in his blood. Yet his mind swirls with paranoia. Always fearing it would be him. It would be him to bring the fall of the world as it is known. It would be him who would be finally consumed by the beast in rage and war. It would be him who leads the way for darkness to return.
Fear the beast.
He sits quietly.
Fear the beast.
It’s morning, the sun paints the room red and yellow. He’s alone but the presence is always with him. It beats again. Comfort is only momentary.
