- Leave your phone at home to minimize the chances police and federal authorities can seize and search your phone.

- Remove facial recognition or other biometrics as the police have the right to compel you to turn over biometrics to unlock devices but cannot compel you for a password.

- USE ALPHANUMERIC PASSCODES ONLY. A simple numeric password can easily be cracked in a few hours and once they’re in, they can access everything else including messages, phone calls and contacts. So complicate and frustrate their efforts: use an alphanumeric password for your devices, include words or full sentences and symbols. It could take months, several months, maybe even over a year to crack. They might not even consider it worth it to try depending on your alleged offense.
