Something that I absolutely loved about The Scene

All symbolism aside from what it meant, I wanna focus on what it meant to Steven. Beyond it being a life or death situation, I think it was the biggest moment in his life for 1 reason and 1 reason only:

He got to hug his mom.

Steven witnessed his gem go from Pink Diamond, to Rose Quartz, and to him. He saw his own mom and he saw her in probably the truest form he’ll ever be able to.

It was a life or death situation for Steven when White Diamond ripped his gem out, but he was truly saved by the 1 person who’s never been able to really be there for Steven. Rose Quartz was truly there for her son for the first time in his life, no mystery, no questions, just her and her son.

He felt so lost this entire series especially during the special because of his mom. He didn’t know who he was. He needed a guidance the Crystal Gems couldnt give him, he needed someone to understand and help him, and for once, she was able to be there for him and remind him who he is.

Fusion is what gems do as an expression of love, she finally got to show him how much she loves him.

Maria Elena Milagro Hoyos was the woman Carl Tanzler was obsessed with even after her death due to tuberculosis. Carl Tanzler was a german radiology technologist and Maria was one of his patients. After her death, he had built a mausoleum for her where he would go and visit her body daily; after two years he took her body and brought her corpse back to his home.

He was dedicated to preserving her body the best way he possibly could. He would stuff her lifeless body with rags to maintain her shape, replaced her eyes with glass ones, kept her bones together with wire from a piano and metal hangers, and patched up her rotting flesh with wax, plaster, and silk. 

Her final resting place is currently at Key West Cemetery in Key West, FL.
