2018.07.21 Shoma interviewed at Disney on Ice in Nagoya. Highlights:
On performing at Disney on Ice: When he was 12 years old, he performed in the Disney on Ice pre-show and hit his shoulder on the boards while doing a triple salchow, because he was not used to the narrow rinks at Disney on Ice. (Shoma talked about this once before.) He skated this time with the thought of having the audience enjoy themselves. The best way for them to have a good time is for him to give a good performance. There were a lot of small children at Disney on Ice, so the atmosphere was different from usual.
On his new programs: His free skate “Moonlight Sonata” has been used by many well-known skaters and he hopes to make the program his own. His short program “Stairway to Heaven” is in a tango (actually flamenco) and rock style, and he hopes people will notice the difference and see another side of him.
On Daisuke Takahashi’s return to competition: It feels strange, and Shoma does not feel like he is in a position to say something. As a fan, he is looking forward to seeing Daisuke skate again. He really respects Daisuke’s decision to return to competition after retiring.
On his goals for the season: He does not have one big goal, only to take things day by day and climb up one step at a time.

Yuzuru’s interview after the last FaOI show (Shizuoka) on 1 July 2018, at 23:30 of this video, translated by me.
Q: Last show of FaOI is over, your thoughts–
Yuzu: Well, really, when it just started, thoughts like it’s long, maybe it will be tough, the condition of my injury, I did have some worries like that, but it has gone by in a flash. There were many people that I met and also many, many things that I could learn from, within this period. When Fantasy On Ice ends, I also get the feeling that the season is finally going to start. I want to look towards the season and prepare for it properly.
Q: About preparing for the new season, you have recovered most of your jumps–
Y: Well, competition is competition. I have to put in a lot more hard work to prepare for competition. To be in front of everyone like this, including the period of rehab, putting into practice, while taking good care of my foot, to be able to do this, it’s really a space filled with happiness for me, a time where I receive a lot of happiness. Looking ahead towards the competitions, I want to adjust my body which is still in ice show condition; I need to make it competition condition. From here, so as not to have any big injury, I want to work hard while learning and studying efficient ways of training.
END
I watched ‘Haru yo, Koi’ in Shizuoka and it was really too beautiful for words, especially with the live piano music. After the finale, when he was alone, he shouted, “Next season too, I will work hard! …… Arigato-gozaimashita!” Watching this video, I had tears when I saw his expression as he waved and bowed at the end. His sincerity and love for skating and for his fans always moves me deeply. I am happy that I was there with many good fan-friends and we shouted “Omedetou!!!” (congrats!!!) to him on this last FaOI day which was the day before he received the People’s Honour Award. ゆづ、おめでとう!本当に ありがとうございました!!!

From adriana_rodriguez0103’s Instagram : July 2nd was definitely a day I will never forget. I would resume everything that happened that day but I don’t think you all want to know it. I will just tell you a little but about him so you can understand how important he is for me. He is Shoma Uno (宇野 昌磨) he is a figure skater from Japan, silver Olympic Medalist and 2 best of the world standing, for me he’s THE BEST tho. He is a person I admired a lot, not only because of his skating skills but for he’s dedication, it doesn’t matter If he does wrong in a competition, he would fight his way to the top. He just doesn’t give up and I love that. Of course he can’t do it all by himself so that’s why the woman from the last picture is also important, she is his coach Mihoko Higuchi. I really hope the best for him and his team in this next season 💜🇯🇵 #shomauno #宇野昌磨
