hey, so i've seen some EGO manifestations and Distortions, and some Distortions to Manifestations, and i'm pretty sure that...

from all of that, Distortion is (probably) a state of being consumed greatly by your own EGO (which is normaly in a very partial state, with your distortion "sight" [for there are no easier words to put it] suggesting that distortion is usualy held back a bit.)

now, if you held the EGO of another being, such as an abnormality, you would not distort but corrode. however, corrosion seems to be a lot easier of a thing to fall into than distortion (probably because the EGO of abnormalities is fully manifested and conflicting with your own)

am i right or wrong in the broad strokes?

When it comes to the broad strokes you are mostly correct, especially when it comes to differentiating between E.G.O corrosion and full-blown Distortion.

In my research of the Distortion phenomenon, and my newfound privilege of observing the LCB team in combat i can come to various conclusions as to the nature of both these phenomena.

The Distortion Phenomenon occurs when an individual experiences a significant spike in their emotions, we have no reason to believe that this spike in emotion needs to be negative in nature, but as this is the city, that is the main cause. In all cases the individual then proceeds to have a conversation with a unseen third party that seems to provide them with a choice, should they accept the offer of this third party, they will distort, taking on a form that reflects their deepest, primal desires, they will then act on those desires that gave them their form to the most extreme, usually violent degree.

However, when it comes to E.G.O corrosion we can observe that this only occurs in individuals that are experiencing a unstable state of mind, which manifests in the conscious of the user, and the conscious of the E.G.O temporarily merging. Leading the user to take on the characteristics of the E.G.O's parent abnormality.

As for your question on the nature of partial distortion and my ability to see said partial distortion, I simply use it as a measure of how close someone is to having that interaction with this mysterious third party, as the partial distortion doesn't have any physical presence.

With all due respect, Carmen, ever since that wing collapsed, and the white nights followed, the city as a whole has been in a state of utter disarray, not a single day passes where I don't see someone affected by your voice, and far too few pass before I receive another case related to the distortion.
